Sin watched the other as they entered her eyes trailing over them for a moment and trying to match names and faces, but she couldn't quite place all of them. She was determined to know at least everyones name if not more, she grinned a bit at Davi's...enthused entrance. She smiled a bit at Alcyone and then watched to see where Arachne sat, she had yet to be introduced to the ghoul but the demon seemed interesting.

Then her attention turned and focused fully on the professor, she was here after all to learn. Patience, flair, physical stamina...well she possessed all three...granted patience was something she had to often work at. Flexibility, and a catalyst. What would her catalyst be? Did it need to be a physical item or something alive? She instantly touched her demon eye brooch, an item she always wore, a family heirloom. It was easily her first choice as a catalyst, but would it suit the job?

A spiritual channel...perhaps they needed something more lively? She thought of her two pets, the unmentionables would make for excellent catalysts. They knew her well, she knew them, they were sneaky creatures and who knew what type of energy they possessed.

She drew away from her thoughts and focused up at Israfel, birds? hiding and looking harmless? Sin wanted the opposite, she wanted to stand out, she wanted to frighten...or entrance.

"I'd like to be able to create an illusion that my opponent is safe, in a dream, please them until they are giddy with my presence. I can draw from the emotions of others with my fear...but I'm still practicing that, it enhances their emotions and flavors some of mine. If I could lower someones guard with an illusion...it would be most helpful."

Yes enchanting and seducing were more her style for now, she wasn't anywhere near terrifying anyone just yet. She softly touched her brooch and then looked at the professor. "Can our catalyst be any object or does it need to be sentient? Something with spirit or energy to draw off of?"

It was surprising but Lucien had realized he had a class to attend to. It wasn't surprising that when he realized this he was all the way at the other end of Town Hall checking his rainbow pumpkin seeds into his bank account. He finished up as fast as he could with gnomes running the bank and hurried his way back. He flew by the Wishing Well, noticing a few students trying to put another student into the well, along with someone trying to make a wish in the middle of it all. He got a little absent minded watching, and took the long way back to the school going all the way through the campus dorms first.

He grunted in displeasure when he got to the school. Hurrying inside, he found himself floating as fast as he could down the hall, desperately looking for his class. Every door he checked in just wasn't his class. Then he spotted it, nearly sliding past the door as he spotted it. He took a breath and floated closer to the door. He peered in, listened. The teacher was talking. Lucien was late! He stared in... listening intently to the teacher. Lucien was trying to grasp his head around the idea of a catalyst, one arm squeezing around his lantern and the other fiddling with the goggles around his neck.

Finally when the teacher was done speaking, Lucien thought for a moment about what sort of illusions he'd want or need to be able to harness. He imagined the illusion of appearing as if he wasn't there and just part of the sky would be key. The sky, the air, it was all important to his species. It was key to his abilities. The wind was something he'd love to be able to do more with, perhaps an illusion with wind storms or creature illusions would be interesting at one point.

Lucien heard the sound of a familiar voice speaking and when he turned his head to see who it was he noticed not a person but a shadow first, and from there he seen a little bird whom he was able to identify immediately. Israfel was an interesting guy from what Lucien could tell, and he just seemed so... Lucien paused his thought when he heard another voice speaking. It was a much softer tone, the sound of a woman? His eyes moved over to notice her. He didn't remember her name, but he was pretty sure he seen her in Shadowcraft 101 as well.

He slowly moved over to the teacher. It was rare he took his lantern to class with him, but he had it carefully in one arm. It was very noticeable as he toggled with his goggles with the other. He addressed the teacher whose name he was unable to catch and paused, floating in front of him. He hoped the teacher hadn't noticed he had been late, or at least not mind enough to put him on the spot in class. Without addressing reason, Lucien said "I'm sorry," before he moved onto the purpose of his sentence. "I'm an air elemental spirit. I can make clouds," he said, lingering on the thought of someday maybe making storms. "Illusions involving the air would be perfect. Maybe something to build up to like an illusionary wind creature, to something simple like blending into the environment like I'm not there."

Lucien then took a step back from the teacher as his feet briefly touched the ground and he moved from the front of the classroom to the back. There he was a lot closer to Israfel and he hoped the teacher wouldn't mind. He really didn't want to have to stand at the front of the class all day.

"Alcie!" She smiled at the Water Demon, remembering their first meeting in the Dorms - indeed, the Dorms were a great place to encounter people, even if all she ever met were of her own kind. Turning to see the other ghoul better, her smile widened, "Its good to see you here!"

Her attention was then diverted to another Demon, Arachne, whom she had also met in the Dorms, offering her a nod and smile as greeting. While the Spiderkin was comfortable to be around, Lizzy felt that she was rather lady-like and prim and proper compared to herself! Maybe that's why she felt a little... Distanced from her. Just as class was about to start, the arrival of a familiar Demon made Lizzy blush slightly. While they were simply acquaintances, he always carried himself so well that she couldn't help but notice him! She quickly returned the gesture, nodding back with a faint smile.

After Lucien was done speaking, Lizzy shifted her position on the beanbag again; seems like this class' professor is a lot more slack than those from the other classes! Keeping his words in mind, the Spider Demon took out a pen, jotting down notes in her notebook as her classmates spoke.

"I would like to learn to create an illusion over the surroundings," She nodded, blushing a little as she continued, "While my webbing is somewhat... Hard to see, its difficult to find a place to put it that looks 'normal' enough for people to want to walk through it... If I could create an illusion over my surroundings, I'm sure it would aid me in trapping my prey in the future."

Reaching behind her, she held her giant spool of webbing on her lap; could that be her catalyst?

Braum listlessly held up a tarot card, raising an eyebrow as if that explained everything to Phairren.

The professor himself simply sighed, and frowned at the lack of participation. Crossing his arms, the normally lax professor decided some penalty homework was in order.

"Alright, class! Seeing as many of your peers dislike speaking out of turn, we're going to do a little take home project!"
he announced, going to the hidden closet and shusshing some small creatures that were hidden inside, while pulling out some unobtrusive orbs. He began handing them to the students that had failed to come up with a catalyst and input of their own, plopping each little orb into their laps.

"Take these. These will help to initially channel your energy into creating something in the physical world with just your mind. They feed on pure willpower and Fear, so tend to them. I expect there to be results by next week,"
he instructed, starting to hand the orbs to the students whom HAD given him input. To those, he managed a small, encouraging smile.

"Some of you that already have a determined and clear mindset will find that by the end of this exercise, your catalyst's "familiar", conjured by the power of your Fear and your first illusion, will take on a more unique form. I'm looking forward to seeing what all of you manage to produce," he intoned, passing out the last of the orbs and bowing his head slightly, going back to lounge on his dias at the front of the room and waving them off with a smile.

"Go on then, ghouls and boils, go cause someone else a migrane,"
he chuckled, dismissing the class while rolling a smaller, softly glowing orb inbetween his fingers, his own Chanelling Stone.

assignment

ASSIGNMENT::

Please post your acceptance of your Chanelling Stone, and post a link of your minipet profile, so the stone can be sent directly to you.

In a weeks time, the stone needs to grow to it's second stage at LEAST in order to pass. You'll receive a higher grade if you can make it to the final stage, and students whom participated in class will find their final stages are personalized alternates.

When you come back to turn it in, please provide a link of ONE COMPLETE RP (can be a solo, group effort, ect, it just needs to meet an 800 word requirement) of your character attempting to channel their energy through the stone. Remember, it works on their pure energy/willpower, so feed the stone lots of energy and emotion!

Assignment will be due on December 17th!

Sin took the orb curiously and peered into it's depths trying to figure out what was special about it. A channeling orb hmm? Now she wondered if any orb would do or not. Still this was her homework assignment so she took it carefully in her hands.

Looked like she would have to set aside more time for homework and less time for the maul. What a pity there was a sale going on...maybe if she went on spiderday...no she had fearleading practice. Ah well, school came first she thought rather unhappily. Still she liked this professor more then some of the others and the assignment didn't sound wretchedly difficult.

When she heard his dismissal she waited a moment watching him and his orb. Then she nodded and walked out feeling that all in all it hadn't gone too badly. Maybe she could study buddy with that cute demon boil...

Alcie stepped up to receive one of the orbs and she observed it carefully once she had it in her hands. It looked interesting and even though this was a homework assignment, she looked forward to attempting to channel her energy. Focus was something that she lacked and knew that she needed to work on if she was going to develop her Fear. This was clear because she couldn't even procure an appropriate answer to the professor's earlier question. Though, she should know better considering her fear was based off of the illusion of drowning so she better try harder in this class! Her lack of concentration did not allow her to hold this illusion for long and figuring out an appropriate catalyst would definitely help her. Well now, instead of daydreaming, Alcie had something productive to do to occupy her time.

Having been sort of preoccupied within his own mind, Raziel had not had the chance to respond to the assignment, describing his reasoning for taking the class. He sat there, belatedly going over what he would have said.

Well, my illusion comes in the form of multiple arms extending from my body. But these arms are as real as you and I... Or at least they feel as real. He wasn't sure what he could use as a catalyst really. He wasn't even entirely sure what one was.

Snapping back to the present, Raziel sheepishly watched as the other students moved to pick up their orbs. He wanted to move forward and accept one for himself, but held back, unsure of how the teacher would take his actions. As the last few students were getting orbs, Raziel tried to exit with the others unnoticed.

((sorry i never made it back or anything D: RL got super busy))

Lizzy liked this professor more and more by the minute; unlike some of the others whose class she had attended, he seems nicer and more encouraging. Taking the small orb from him, she smiled back and muttered 'thank you' before holding it between her forefinger and thumb, turning it around to take a better look at it, wondering what her final illusion might be.

Then, realizing that class was over, she exited the room, slipping the orb gently into her bag.

Lucien watched Professor Phairren seemed to lecture the class about lack of participation. The air elemental couldn't help but wonder if the professor was referring to him. He didn't mean him right? Lucien was late but he participated! Right? Lucien's thoughts flew wild as he thought about it, was he going to be punished?! Why was he going to a... what was that? A closet? Lucien's imagination was really getting the better of him until luckily, Phairren didn't bring out anything too strange and Lucien cooled down a little, enough to listen.

His eyes settled, staring at the objects the professor had in his hands. What were they? Orbs? Lucien thought about it as he watched Phairren hand the stones out until he finally got to him. Lucien held his hand out to accept the channeling stone, looking up at Professor Phairren in time to notice a small, somewhat encouraging smile directed at... at Lucien! A small sense of relief rushed over Lucien all because of that small smile. Upon accepting the stone, Lucien managed a meek 'thank you' at the professor.

He finished listening intently to what the professor had said and after Professor Pharrien had finished and addressed the class to leave, Lucien did so. He left slowly, not in a hurry, grasping the stone carefully in his hands as if it were his precious lantern itself. He was carefully considering what the professor had said about the stone, about the homework he'd have to do before the next class. Distracted in thoughts, the air elemental almost walked into the door on his way out, just managing to slide against the door wall instead.

"Ah," he managed to say under his breath before he disappeared around the corner of the classroom.

Earwings fell back as the teacher approached, half expecting to get some kind of personal reprimand for his choice in a catalyst or his lack of participation. Thankfully it was not the case, as the orb fell harmlessly into his hand, a tiny smile from the teacher. Tales from his sisters of illusion teachers playing tricks and being purely spiteful 'brutes' were now proven untrue, as were many of the stories his sisters had apparently had told him were turning out to be. Briefly the siren considered the idea his sisters were the ones creating an illusion of words, and if it were true, boy, Israfel certainly felt like a dodo! the smile of encouragement was nice, and he certain felt a weight lift off his shoulders knowing he was not to be chided.

Rolling the orb in his hands, the texture felt cool to the touch, and it certainly seemed harmless. Worst case was that his mini kappa would use it in building the little stone piles around his bedroom. It was...really not that impressive? not impressive yet at least! The point was FEAR manifestation, so no doubt by the end it would be great and beautiful and just like Israfel. Totally fabulous.
Still, homework was homework in the end and from what the professor who smelt kind of like flowers said, he had a week to do it. Placing his assignment into his pack, Israfel wanted to briefly take a moment to write down what he'd been told on just how to get this project done in a week.

Something told him he might need it for future reference.
