Jak snarled at her brother's insistent command to obey him. She couldn't believe he thought she'd just do what he said, without thinking about whether there might be other, better ways to accomplish the same goal. Besides which, she was just ornery and didn't much like to be bossed, even when it was for her own good. Especially when it was for her own good, really, if the person doing the bossing sounded too high and mighty.
"You're not the boss of me," she retorted wittily. Clearly clever comebacks were not yet part of her repertoire.
It brought a smug grin to her face to dislodge her brother, even though she still had to scramble to get away from him, and he hadn't moved as much as she would have liked with her kick. She guessed it would be unrealistic to expect him to fly several yards away. It would have been very satisfying though. Particularly if there'd been a bit of spinning involved as he was catapulted through the air. But none of that had happened.
Instead, Jak crouched warily and watched her brother. She didn't believe he was done yet. No doubt he thought this was some sort of training or practice session, and had some secret goal in mind that he wouldn't tell her. He'd just make her do the same thing over and over until he thought she was doing it well enough. Vaako could be really annoying that way
Her wariness turned out to be justified when Vaako jumped again. This time she skittered sideways to avoid him. She didn't want to end up pinned again. So maybe jumping after him in an attempt to land on his back while he was recovering might not have been such a good idea.

Vaako snorted at his sister’s retort but he couldn’t think of an appropriate response so he just remained quiet. He almost felt proud as Jakyra avoided his attack and immediately jumped on top of him. Boy, she was fast! Not that strong yet though and the young cub managed to remain standing under the weight of the girl. His legs pushed to the sides and he could feel every single muscle in his body tensing.
“Your reflexes… are good.” Vaako grunted under his breath, not completely pleased with the current turn of events despite his best intentions. “But you need to be stronger.” It seemed the cub had a difficult time giving a compliment without a dreaded “but” attatched and it wasn’t any easier deciding what was more important at this point: the current "lesson" or getting away from this uncomfortable position. Perhaps that was why he tried to dislodge his sister a little more roughly than he normally would. His paws kicked the ground as strongly as he could and the cub’s body twisted violently. If that wasn’t enough to get her off, Vaako was fully intent on throwing his own body backwards and twist his body to pin her down again… oh well, it seemed easy in his mind.

Jak's satisfaction at an attack successfully performed dimmed as Vaako spoke. Couldn't he just keep his mouth shut and let her enjoy having done it right? He never gave proper compliments. Not ever. It was very frustrating, and annoying, and made her want to bite him harder than was allowed in play.
"I'll get bigger," she reminded him. "But you may never get faster."
When he bucked to throw her off, she let him, and stalked to a safe distance. There she sat down primly and began licking her tail, an unmistakable sign that she was done with all of this. If Vaako wanted to pounce at leaves or shadows that was fine, but he'd succeeded in taking most of the fun out of her pouncing practice, and so she wasn't going to play it with him anymore.

“Pff. I’ll get bigger and faster!” Vaako replied at once but he didn’t feel quite as insulted as he might’ve sounded. It was obvious that he’d grow into those awkward paws of his and there was absolutely no way that he’d remain the same helpless cub that he was now. From his point of view, as long as he practiced every day his hard work would be rewarded in the future. Riddiq might’ve been born with a slight head start but that was all there was to it. Vaako would definitely surpass him one day!
“Not much stamina either. Or resolve.” He grunted quietly more to himself than Jakyra as she seemed to grow tired of the gam-exercise (and her brother by association) but it was definitely loud enough to be heard. Pouncing on his sister right now would be the same as attacking from the back and even though there was a proper time and place for sneak attacks, this was most certainly not one of them. The cub let out a deep sigh, defeated. He knew better than to try and change his stubborn sister’s mind once she’d decided on something.
“You should practice with Kofie. She’s getting good.” Even if it wasn’t with him, she definitely had to practice those moves. It was obvious she had it in her, she just needed a little push… and Vaako would always be willing to lend a helping paw. With one annoyed lash of his tail, Vaako turned to leave. Maybe Svan or Kofie would be up for some sparring as well.

Jak's tail continued to twitch, even while she groomed it. Her mother would tell her not to let Vaako get to her like that, but she noticed Gintare didn't practice what she preached. She let Riddiq get to her sometimes. Well, Riddiq could be a little scary. Even Jak found him so from time to time.
Kofie! There was no way Kofie could get as good as Jakyra was. Ever. At least as far as Jak was concerned. But Vaako's words needled her. What if Kofie did get better than her? Would Riddiq like her more then? It wasn't a pleasant thought. Jak resolved to practice more.
She decided to let Vaako have the last word. Mostly because she couldn't think of anything else to say. It was enough for her that he was leaving. She had plenty of stamina and resolve, but Vaako just had a way of making fun things not fun. He was a...a...a funsucker! She liked the sound of that, and so when he was far enough away she muttered it under her breath.
"Funsucker."
