Oh, could just die trying to keep himself from giggling when Kay noticed the trail had ended. He shivered in silent anticipation, claws piercing the bark in order to keep him in place while his friend inspected the bushes. Blue eyes wide, Kafele was glad that the laughter inside his head couldn’t be heard by others. Oh, Kay was so clever. He’d figured it out now and aiming towards the tree!

When Kay almost collided with said tree, Kafele had trouble suppressing a chuckle that came out as an odd snort. It was very smart of Kayin to anticipate an attack because a red shape was now rapidly dropping down the tree until it reached the lowest branch, from where it was safe(r) for the young lion to pounce on his light-colored friend.

“Ah-ha!” he cried with a wide smile, all worries and troublesome thoughts suddenly forgotten.

Kayin was very glad he'd thought to move when he heard the cry from up above. He just managed to catch a glimpse of red falling, and had enough time to worry about his friend getting hurt, before the other lion landed on a different branch and... uhoh...

With a squeak of surprise Kayin started to scramble only to change his mind about escaping. He doubted he'd dodge in time, given how much gravity was helping Kafele to beat him. Instead, he was torn between trying to brace himself and trying to anticipate the playful attack and, mostly didn't really do well about picking fast.

Oh well, at least he wasn't going to hit the tree.

Kafele was surprised when his friend didn’t move but it didn’t really matter. It was impossible to change directions midair so even if he had changed his mind and decided to land on the ground… well, too late for that. He hit Kay harder that he had anticipated and his sight went black for a second as his head hit something hard. One of his paws missed his friend, hitting the ground at an odd angle and the young lion felt a sharp pain running all the way to and through his spine which caused him to jump back right after landing.

“Aw, you’re so nice, Kay. Softening my fall.” he was gasping for air but obviously still had enough in him to offer a witty retort. His right paw hurt a bit but only when he put all his weight into it so when the young lion stood up he was leaning to left side instinctively. He grinned, lowering his head a bit as he readied his body in case his friend was looking for payback.

It felt like Kafele had gained weight since the last time this happened.

With a tremendous woof of air being slammed out of him, Kay found himself once again lying in the dirt after being landed upon by his friend. Everything that hit the ground was sore. Everything hit by Kafele was sore. So basically everything, except for an ear and his tail, was unhappy with the current situation.

Blinking the floaty light things out of his vision, Kayin wobbled back to his feet. Bruised and scuffed but otherwise he seemed to be okay. He didn't even think he was bleeding. "Of course," he giggled a bit too amused by the situation. Ow. Or maybe not that amused. "Can't have you cracking...your silly skull..." he teased, lifting a paw to bat lightly at his friend's lowered head.

“Yeah… it was a little higher than it seemed.” Kafele admitted somewhat apologetically, allowing Kay’s hit to connect with his head… he deserved it, after all. So this time there were no jokes about the immense superiority of an Atmaja lion but Kafe’s eyes narrowed and he flinched, an expression of mock pain suddenly taking over his features. His head wavered from side to side and his body followed suit before he suddenly collapsed to the side and rolled over until his back was comfortably settled on the ground. A very dramatic fall indeed. His blue eyes seemed blank as he watched the sky.

“You have killed me. I am now dead. Here fell the greatest Atmaja warrior that ever lived.” He spoke solemnly before closing his eyes, a hint of smile on his otherwise neutral expression. He wouldn’t be able to keep this up for long, that much was obvious.

Kay's ears flicked nervously back at the expression of pain on his friend's face before he recognized that it was feigned. He'd worried that he hit his playmate harder than he'd intended, but the two of them had always played roughly with one another. Actually, that was pretty much everything Kayin knew of play. That other cubs didn't bleed or bruise during a game never even crossed his mind. They always had so much fun that banging his chin on a rock or falling out of a tree hardly seemed to matter at all.

But standing here, watching his friend lay sprawled on his back... Kay couldn't help but giggle. He choked it hastily, turning it into a quick cough before stepping forward to place on paw lightly on Kafele's chest. "You may rest in peace, oh great warrior, knowing that your honorable opponent could only have been of the mightiest Tama lions." His own solomn speech was someone ruined by the snerk that escaped him between 'mighty' and 'Tama', and he held his breath as he sat back, his shoulder shaking with suppressed laughter.

So much for a straight face, even if the giggles did keep reminding him of sore spots.

A black tail twitched and suddenly Kafele’s heroic “death” was cut short when the young lion started laughing, obviously unable to keep up the little make-believe game for too long. Normally he’d hate to have his belly exposed and very rarely would he ever admit someone placing a paw on him but, somehow, things were always a little different when it came to Kayin.

“Oh, to be young.” The red lion said with a sly grin, as if he was much older and about to say something naughty. “Only little cubs indulge in such fantasy games.”

He stood up, slow and deliberately, and sat very straight in a ridiculously exaggeration of a dignified pose that matched his smug expression.

“After all, in reality one knows that a Tama warrior would never be able to defeat an Atmaja one.” Kafele said more seriously though he clearly meant it as a harmless tease judging by his typical mischievous wide grin. “Isn’t that right, little Tama? Catch me if you can.”

His last words were but a quick-spoken whisper and the red lion hopped sideways before dashing off in a mad run away from his cream-colored friend.

Kay was utterly lost in a giggle-fit that shook his shoulders and was slowly starting to make breathing more complicated than it ought to be as he watched his friend laugh and then sit up to speak more 'seriously' to him. It looked far too exaggerated to possible be seriously serious, and it only make Kayin giggle more fiercel, though he bit his lip to try holding it in. He wasn't particularly successful.

He wasn't the least bit offended by the red youngster's teasing, even if Kafele had seemed serious about Atmaja and Tama he would not have been upset. After all, the Tama were more well known for being thoughtful rather than fierce. It only made sense that there would be exaggerations regarding the strengths of each.

Kafe's quick whisper was almost lost, though thankfully the worst of the giggles seemed to have subsided by then. Kayin blinked when his friend leapt away before racing off. And then the cream colored lion uttered a gleeful laugh and tore after his red friend. "Better run fast!"

Atmaja and Tama were just words, titles, names. They meant only a little to Kay, they didn't make a person any different than that person was. And this Atmaja was his very best friend. Nothing could ever change that, ever. At least, not in this moment.

((Do you feel like this could wrap it up? We always seem to go on and on and on with these two XD ))

Kafele looked over his shoulder - still grinning despite how hard that made keeping his breathing under control – and saw his friend following him closely. He laughed and showed no intention of slowing down as he kept racing forward, thoroughly enjoying the feeling of the wind in his face and the freedom that it implied.

He knew it wouldn’t last long. Soon, Kafele would have to return to his new “home”… preferably before one of the Ligi came for him. But these moments, these precious and rare little moments with Kayin were enough to lighten his heart for weeks. Not being completely honest with Kay would later bother him of course but the young lion still had his insecurities and he would never allow the word “heir” to ruin something so precious. He really had no desire to test his friendship with the cream-colored Tama.

He kept running, a free youngster with absolutely no worries or fears at this particular moment. What would come later, would come - whether he wanted it or not – but right now Kafele was just a perfectly normal young lion playing with his best friend.
