I'll also have leather, wool, and other buffalo by-products. Buffalo wool is so soft--and excellent for knitting bikinis!

Sounds like a good deal. I'd probably have a few goats on hand, but mostly for milk, not leather or wool. Sheep too. I kinda want to have a few of everything, just in case. razz

Buffalo are not domesticated, so that presents a slew of problems you wouldn't have with a longhorn.
I also want an alpaca or two.
And my farm is going to be a mix of mustangs and Percheron. ^_^ I think Percherons would be good for herding buffalo because they're so big and so mellow.

I don't know if my ranch would ever qualify as a "commune" but if it did, it'd probably be a monarchy of hard work. razz Although something about being the matriarch of my own community is appealing...

ScarletFrost .....Although something about being the matriarch of my own community is appealing... It really is. I have no idea how I would run the place but it is fun to think about. When I was younger, probably like 10, I had an interesting idea. I didn't want to be the queen, I wanted to be the princess. That way I had no real responsibility but I would have all of the benefits lol. But now I realize that a princess probably has a lot of responsibility.
