For some reason or another, caught up in Lucas' sheer elation, Lennyka jumped to her feet and pointed a finger at the man.

"That's genius!" she pronounced to the entire whole of the room. " . . . and extremely understanding and believable in a story! That will definitely make for a good sequel . . . maybe even a series! How many books do you think you'll right? Three? Four? Twelve? Oh, imagine your fan base! They'll cry out, "This man is a genius! His name? His name is Mister- err, what's your name again?"

If wasn't that she had forgotten his name no- she didn't know his name at all . . . nor did he probably know hers.

"I'm Lennyka . . . Lennyka Dinkley. I should have said that from the start, humph."

"Wha-" Oh, right, the book. "Oh, uh... Maybe three? Three sounds like good number. Or jeez, maybe more... Maybe I'll just write as many as I can!" He could write for the rest of his days, until he realized the finale of a reunion with Morrison. As long as he was striving towards that end, Lucas felt invincible. They would meet again, no matter what.

"Ah, name's Lucas Bristow." A hand extended in greeting instinctively. "And don't worry about it. I completely forgot about introductions myself." His smile betrayed no animosity towards the blunder.

"That is a good idea, hmm? I guess a writer cannot stop writing if writing is what they do . . . does that sound a tad bit confusing? I am a tad bit confused myself."

She sighed and drew out her tongue when he introduced himself. "It's a pleasure to meet you Mister Bristow!" she chirped back. "T-This is my first time meeting an author and all so um, I hope you don't mind the formality."

When her hand locked with his, she gave a deft up-down and withdrew. "So, why exactly are you here? I mean here, in well, here." she asked. "TR doesn't seem like a great place for a to-be author to be!"

"Ah, no, I know what you mean. Something like Pidgey gotta fly and Magikarp gotta swim, right?" It made sense to him in a way that things that made actual sense never would.

"It's a pleasure to meet you too, Lennyka," he smiled. Truly, he was starting to feel deeply guilty for perpetuating his lie, but it seemed that he had already dug himself in too deep to climb back out. He hummed at her question, considering how he should answer. "I'm in hiding," was the response he finally gave. "It makes for great character research, too." He gave a small nod, satisfied with his own answer. "What about you, if it's all right for me to ask?"

"I'm . . . trying to bring my brother back home." she said with a huff, digging her chin into the palm holding up her head. "It is not that I want to or anything . . . my parents, you see, are the ones who want him home and they sent me out to drag him back."

She inwardly sighed at the length of her own story. It wasn't an extravagant tale like Luke's one in Lucas' book (why did their names sound so oddly alike?) but it was a tale nonetheless.

"My poppa got up in an accident that didn't include him. A co-worker, well, his friend liked to experiment with construction. Did I mention my father's a construction worker? The company's owner's daughter, the head honcho himself and a potential marriage prospect for her were checking out the construction sight when my poppa's friend decided to well, have a little fun . . . " She sighed. "Do you really want me to continue? It is a boring story, you might lose interest and all . . . "

Lucas was confused by her wording. Her whole countenance seemed to deflate so suddenly, and he wondered what kind of relationship she had with her brother to react so soberly after being so excited moments earlier. Lennyka started into an explanation, though, and Lucas was more than content to listen.

"No, I'd like to hear," he encouraged at her pause. Just what circumstances had found such a good-intentioned girl in the ranks of a criminal organization?

"Alright." Silence. "That friend of my poppa's? He had gotten into trouble before at another company for his fun. Lost his job even though he had a lovely wife and an adorable daughter. He was lucky to have gotten this job at the construction site, for some reason or another. His fun caused the owner's daughter to get hurt. Seriously hurt. She ended up being hospitalized for some time."

She sighed but the grit of her teeth was evident come her second spawn of silence.

"He asked poppa to take the blame. My poppa's a soft man . . . no matter how burly he may appear. He accepted, only because he was thinking of the man's wife and kid instead of the man himself. He was fired the following day and the man decided to sue . . . even though he had a lot of money to pay for his daughter's care. It was an act of sudden hate, because that man loved his daughter so much. He thought that is what his comatose daughter wanted, revenge. But no, she had such a kind heart . . . she didn't want to hate. He hated my father and his family anyway because the love for his daughter was so strong."

It hurt, of course it did, to know she was hated. She tries so hard to get along with everyone, she doesn't want to be hated. Yet, there are people out there that are going to hate. Len just hasn't realized that yet. So naive she was, always looking for the good in people.

"We felt into a deep debt after the court case. We lost, obviously, the man had tight bindings with a lot of people. We suffered for a good long time, I even forgot about leaving for my own Pokemon journey at ten to help bring in some money. We were pedaling in solid mud for a good year or two, going no where no matter how much we fought. That is when my mother decided that we needed another hand to bring in money. We needed Sorano, my brother, who had long disappeared into the world without a trace."

"I tracked down Sorano's friend, Moose. Funny nickname, huh? He told me about Sorano and what he was doing, where he was now and how I could find him. He pulled strings with a higher up in TR's Kanto branch, did I mention I was from Saffron? And I got in. I was transferred here to Kodo and I discovered my brother. That's it really. I am still trying to bring him back home but he doesn't want to come. Now, he's an agent . . . really, an agent! . . . and it doesn't seem he is going to give up being here anytime soon. I don't know what to do anymore . . . I hate it here and I want to go back home."

Lucas's brow furrowed as he listened to her story. She really had no place being thrown into the same lot with a bunch of crooks. And, more than that, her talk of wanting to go home stirred a terrible fear deep within him.

"Jeez," he breathed, shaking his head slightly. "Can I- I mean... Is there anything I could do to help somehow?" He pressed his forehead against the edge of his palm in thought. "I could try talking to your brother, or... or... I don't know. Something." Somewhere in the world, there was a family wondering where their sweet little daughter disappeared to, and here in front of him there was a girl trapped in a place where she didn't want to be. There was no way he could just ignore it.

"Do you know lines forty-five and forty-six or T.S. Elliot's "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufock"?" she randomly asked the not-so author, brown eyes cast elsewhere. "Mister Prufock asks himself, "Do I have disturb the universe?"" Len turned her gaze back to him, unwavering though brimmed with a deep emotion.

"Do I dare disturb his uniquely formed universe? Do I dare send another to disturb what sanctum he has formed for himself? I have tried to talk, tried to reason, but have come to no avail." She deeply sighed. "We are separated by two worlds now. He to the coffeehouse, I . . . I to the cloister. He to the science of Man, I to the glory of . . . whatever God there is. Ariadne's thread has been snipped . . . and I have already been consumed by the Minotaur. Thank you for the offer and kindness, Mister Bristow, really . . . but I doubt even your words can change what his heart is already dedicated to."

Lucas honestly had no idea whatsoever what Lennyka was referencing, but he at least understood the intent of her words. He knew that she understood hers and her brother's circumstances better than anyone, but he didn't dislike it any less. "Then, at least..." he ran a hand through his hair, gaze entreating, "...if there's any way I can help you, in your universe... I mean, I'll always be here. Any time, anything you need." There were, of course, things that were beyond him - magically resolving all her troubles with a snap of his fingers, for example - but he at least wanted to believe there was something he could do to quench the flames of what seemed to be a personal hell, even if only a little.

Len flipped her gaze back to him and dipped her head forward to hear his words. "Thank you, Mister Bristow." she simpered, a somewhat goofed, cracked smile lighting her features aglow. "I extend the same offer to you. If you ever wish to talk, especially about your book, I will be glad to listen. Thank you for listening today . . . it feels nice to have relinquished such . . . thoughts to another pair of human ears."

Lucas's features softened into a smile in response to Lennyka's own. "I'll be sure you're the first to know once I've got anything worth talking about," he promised. By this point he had resigned himself to writing the book, and the guilt that emerged at the very thought of disappointing the girl was enough to assure that it would get done. "And if you ever need someone to listen, well... I'm not hard to find. Don't let this stuff eat you up, all right?"

"I promise it won't." replied Lenn as she began to find her way off, arms linked behind her back. "I'll see you later, Mister Bristow. Have a good one, okay?"

With that, she disappeared.
