Iola was mentally prepared to have her request dashed against the rocks. Trying to ready herself for the ‘inevitable’ by means to keep herself from getting too disappointed. Iola kept her gaze on Mlinzi as she rose to her paws. Still no answer. Iola idly wondered what the goddess was going to do. A rehash of what happened in the river? She severely hoped not. The bird perched atop the goddess flitted away, leaving the pair to their own devices. Iola grew slightly more apprehensive. WAS Mlinzi going to launch an attack? But Iola’s answer came soon enough that she didn’t needlessly have a panic attack.
Her mildly worried clouded face brightened significantly once the goddess inquired of the game. Iola’s ears perked forward expectantly as her slender tail erupted into random lashes that whipped around behind her. Looking similar to a wagging dog’s tail. “Wha-hahaha~!” Iola contently laughed, springing up to a standing position and continuing to hop in place a few more times. “Uhm.. uhm…” Iola sat down shortly after, her head titling downwards in thought of just WHAT they should play. It’d have to be something ‘fair’… but really, playing with a goddess meant there were no ways to even the field by any degree. “Tag?” Iola perked, her head jolting forward and looking towards Mlinzi expectantly, “No, no, no…” Her paw pressed to her maw, dropping her head down again to think over a good game. “Hide ‘n seek?” She questioned again, sporadically looking upwards again at the goddess for her opinion. “I’ll hide ‘n you find me?”

The lioness looked positively thrilled when Mlinzi agreed to the game. The crocodile goddess felt slightly disoriented. She had never met an adult lioness that acted quite like this one. Was the purple lioness really as old as she looked? Maybe she was just a very large youngster.

Mlinzi waited patiently as the lioness thought of a game for them, wondering what she'd gotten herself into. Hide and seek didn't sound so bad, though. If Mlinzi had been a bit craftier she could have told the purple lioness to hide and then just taken a nap, but such mortal trickery was pretty much beyond her. She had said she would play, and so she would. "All right," Mlinzi said. "Go hide. I will look." Dredging through her memories for games her lion cubs had played, Mlinzi sat back on her haunches and raised one wide scaley foot to cover her eyes. It wouldn't be fair if she watched the lioness hide, would it? "One." She began ponderously. "Two..."

Iola studied the goddess, watching as the immortal benevolently humored her request. She couldn’t believe it! Mlinzi was really doing it! Iola’s wide grin couldn’t grow any larger. But she wanted it to. Watching the other female cup a paw to her eyes for Iola’s sake, was cute in its own right. A small giggle escaped her maw, before she turned sharply on her heel and crept away. Iola wasn’t sure just how long the goddess intended to count… so Iola slinked away quickly to find a sufficient spot.

Heavy paws were placed delicately atop the ground, taking heed not to stir the pebbles. The miniature rocks shifted slightly under the female’s slender frame. As she inched away, cobalt optics scanned the surroundings for sufficient and difficult hiding spots. The tree? She’d be found out with just one glance. The river? That was the goddess’ territory. The only sensible hiding spot left were the tall grasses that framed the pebbly shore of the river. The wind combed through the lengthy grasses frequently enough. If Iola timed it well enough she could creep around as the grasses rustled when the goddess came to look for her. The grass was long enough that if Iola slid along crouched down she would be completely concealed by the sea of green blades.

Although she had on occasion played this game with her cubs, time had made the details hazy. She continued counting for some time, on the basis that the foolish purple lioness would probably need some time to pick a hiding place. Hopefully she wouldn't try to hide in the river again and drown or something similarly disastrous. Mlinzi blew out a sigh, briefly interrupting her counting. She didn't want to think of the purple lioness as a hapless cub, but she hardly acted like an adult.

"Two hundred. Seventy eight," Mlinzi intoned, finally deciding that she had counted enough. There was something else one was supposed to shout after counting, something about coming to get the hider, but Mlinzi couldn't remember what it was. "Now I will come and catch you," she called.

First Mlinzi checked the river. Not seeing a sodden lump of purple fur washed up anywhere, she decided that the lioness probably hadn't managed to drown herself. She glanced up at the tree, rejecting that as well. Even if the purple lioness was hiding up the tree somewhere, Mlinzi was no climber. She turned and surveyed the grasses.

Another sigh. Probably the lioness was out there somewhere, but finding her seemed like an exhausting task. Maybe she should just take a nice nap on the riverbank ... putting that thought aside, the crocodile goddess ponderously moved into the grasses, swinging her heavy head from side to side as she looked for the lioness.
