 lacy bit her lip. "I'm sorry to hear that. I hipe it gets better for you." she scoffed at his last comment. "It was no big deal. I'm sure you could have done it yourself." he was tough, she could tell he was thr type to pick himself up if he got ran over by a semi. But at that moment he was just down, all she did was mess with his head a little

He smiled after a moment "Some things you can't do on your own." he said sighing and running his hand over his face after taking another sip of the coffee "Saving your life long friend at the expense of your own safety and health only to have it been all for not is a pretty rough blow to the mind. " he said after a moment and sighed "that or if I did I probably would be more gray if not bald by the time I did." he finally said.

she had seen his thoughts and tried not to think of them. She pushed the picture from her mind. "I'm sorry. I'm not sure I can completely understand. I've never had to be in that situation." Lacy had never saved a life. She had....well now she tried to make a difference. But saving a life, that was still beyond her. "your friend Cody?" she asked softly not wanting to bother him with the past, especially if it was painful to remember. Lacy downed the rest of her coffee and watched him carefully

"My best friend since I was Seventeen." he said slowly and nodding at times it was better to talk about what hurt him and get ti out of the way. But for Devlin it was hard he generally just bottled everything up which gave everyone the impression he felt from Lacey the kind of hard a** to take anything and still walk ten stories tall.

Lacy frowned her eyes worried. "You know, I may not be the best for advice outside of the medicinal field, but I am one Hell of a listener. If you ever need to talk I won't mind just hearing you out." she gave him a friendly smile. "scouts honor." she added with a mock salute

He chuckled "Well, we could do that as i help you unpack." he said gesturing. "After all you helped me right?" he said smirking. and then sighing and finishing his coffee he put his hand to his chin in a thoughtful gesture. as he looked at her. "Or we could just sit and talk." he offered. smiling "And I'm one hell of a listener to, something you pick up as a soldier listening." he said jokingly.

she shook her head. "no its alright. I'll save it for another time" she glared at the boxes with disdain. When he offered to listen to her she shrugged trying to find a way to avoid it. "not much of a story to tell. And I'm very poor at story telling" lacy sat up tk get in a more comfortable position and didn't hint at anything else. She would unpack when she had the opportunity. Plus a lot of the stuff she had with her was quite old, and she was certain, might make Devlin wonder

He nodded after a moment "fair enough i can tell when someone doesn't want to talk about something." he said after a moment. Even though he was a rather understanding person and could understand almost anything. He let out a deep breath after a moment and got more comfortable himself wondering what to talk about next. He had a feeling about this woman and wasn't sure what to think if he was honest with himself.

Lacy shrugged and stood looking at him closely. She gently put a hand on his forehead. "damn. I'm sorry. Stupid side effects to everything I suppose." he had a bit of a fever, nothing too bad. Her messing with his head sometimes would bring up something little like this. "you're in luck. The doctor'smin the house." she fixed him with a warm smile and said backing away "think fast" she teased as an ice pack landed on his lap from the kitchen. She sat down again and said. "so are you human? Or, rather I suppose the question is, what are you?"

Devlin chuckled and smiled gently placing the ice pack on his forehead. though he appreciated her concern and her touch much more. Laughing after a moment he smiled "Oh well I do suppose that is quite a common question here." he said laughing. "I'm a human, with psychic abilities, all human." he added smiling still. he then smiled at her first comment "And don't be, a little fever won't do me in if a nade won't." he said joking though he knew fevers and infections were nothing to sneeze at. smiling some more he wondered whether he should ask her the same question she'd just asked him or not to.

She heard the last bit and wondered if he was trying to get her to say what she was. Lacy replied hesitantly "demon. But more psychotic then psychic." she said for herself. bet you had a blast in school being psychi and all"

He grinned a little bit. "I'm a very late bloomer for my powers." he said slowly and then nodded "Well a little madness and psychosis doesn't hurt every now and again." he said grinning still. he knew she felt somewhat hesitant in telling him but he was a pretty accepting person and she did after all help him and seem to be good humored. "So my powers showed up after my girls were borne." he said smiling "No fun for Devlin reading minds in school." he said using a crying motion with his hand "So sad." he joked.

lacy was relieved he wasn't bothered by the fact, at least not that she could tell. "unfortunetely your one of the only ones that seem to think that." she felt a little throb in her side and took a deep breath. she looked at him confused "after you had your girls? How?"

He nodded and patted her leg comfortingly "Well that's because I'm comfortable in chaos." he said winking than getting comfortable in his semi-reclined position in the chair he pondered her question for a moment. "I don't know, but I'm sure it's not a rare occurrence. I just more or less became more in-tune if you will with my surroundings people included." he finished with a shrug.
