I usually play as a female. I play as a man after I have played first as a woman just to try the different scenarios.

I always play female. She looks like a lesbo though... Well...guess that kinda suits me x'D

I'm going to play as a female hawke. I always play my first playthrough as a woman if I get the choice. It's much more fun that way.

I have always played as a female, I have had one male character and it's still sitting at the begining of Ostigar sweatdrop
But having played as the male character on the demo Bioware has made one I want to play.

-A BIT OF SPOILER-
The game starts with Hawke's family runing from Lothering with his/her brother Carver, sister Bethany and mother Leandra. If you pick to be a mage, Bethany will be crushed by ogre, if you play with rogue or warrior - Craver will die the same way.

Female. And I like the default appearance so much, I think I'm going to use it my first time through.
The question now is... what class?
I want to play mage (it's apparently a lot different than it was in the last games. I'm curious), but I want Bethany to live (I want to protect her, and embarrass her, and support her, and scare away all her suitors...)... and I want to both be able to have Anders in my party, and have a balanced group (With Varric! Yay!). Plus, I really like Hawke's token mage armor.
If I played rogue... Bethany would live, and in theory, I should be able to keep my beloved Varric in my party without trouble if I stick to dual wield. Plus, I like picking locks... though Varric would be able to do that as well. The only downside I can see is that I love Isabela (I'd marry that woman if I wasn't dead certain that she's going to betray Hawke at some point), and she's the token DW rogue already. :/
Hawke's token rogue armor, with the hood, is pretty BAMF.
If I played warrior... well, there wouldn't really be any problems. Anywhere. Bethany would live, and I could have Varric, Anders and Isabela all in the same, well-balanced party. Even if I decided that I actually liked Fenris, it wouldn't be a problem because I would steer clear of two-handed weapons.
Not too fond of Hawke's token warrior armor... and I don't usually like playing warrior unless it's one of a few certain types that I doubt I'd be able to create with Hawke. :/
Hm... so, the real contest is between mage and rogue. We'll see. :/
