Kasumi shrugged, and after having spent some time thinking about it, realized no amount of effort on her part was going to bring the memories and purpose back to her any faster. "I suppose it will come to me eventually, but I do worry about it sometimes. I don't remember much at all before coming here to the Academy, aside from a rather hellish train ride in..." The ghost almost shivered, but kept it down. She wished to find the others on the train to make sure they were alright. She really worried about them after everything that had happened. She made a mental list of people to track down once she had the chance.

Tapping her chin, she continued to walk next to Tess as they traversed the hallways. The Academy was such a nice place to be for one such as her, but sometimes she yearned for something more familiar. She just couldn't place it. "Well, onto happier topics! I'm very excited to start classes. I have all these ideas for clubs I've wanted to join too... I saw posters of them while I was getting my dorm all set up. Did anything interest you, Tess?"

Perhaps they'd see each other in class!

Tess wasn't too familiar with ghosts or spirits. Her family tended to associate with their fellow undead and select reapers, something about it being unproper. The manananggal never really understood the logic behind it but as it had been hammered into her head for most of her unlife, it was one of the biggest things she was determined to rebel against.

Besides. Kasumi was nice! And Tess liked nice! So why shouldn't she be friends with the onryo regardless if she was a ghost or undead? So she continued to listen with rapt attention. She would have asked more about the train ride Kasumi mentioned but seeing the other student's mild discomfort, Tess decided against it.

Instead, she focused on the happier topics, "I'm excited to start classes too!" she nodded in agreement, "There are some subjects I wish I could take but I'm just not qualified for them." Tess frowned, but there was no point whining about something beyond her control. "Oh! And yes! I saw the Fearleaders are going to have tryouts! Though I hope there will be some sports clubs too! A balance between brains and body is important, my parents always say." Of course her parents may have been referring to their food but Tess was free to interpret it however she wanted, right?

Oh good, she wasn't the only one interested in classes where she wasn't qualified in the slightest. "I really wanted to take the hexes class I saw the information for but... I don't have any magical ability either. It's pretty disappointing, but... what can you do?" Whining about it would get her nowhere. It's not like she could complain enough and be suddenly bestowed magical powers like a reaper possessed, or even a demon. Kasumi rubbed her hands together in thought. There were other classes and clubs to attend!

"I'd really like to try that gym class with Miss Professor Red... she greeted us when we got off the train. And I'd like to get some exercise if at all possible." But wait, she was a ghost. How could ghosts exercise? "I'd love to try out for Fearleading! Are you going to as well, Tess?" Tess wouldn't even have to worry about the skirts being too short! How convenient was that? "There's a human studies class, and the Headmistress is teaching something too... I'm so glad there's a lot to do here! I was afraid it would be all studying, to be honest."

Tess was becoming more and more relaxed as she and Kasumi continued to talk about classes and clubs. "I'm a little nervous about gym," it wasn't because Tess wasn't athletic. She enjoyed her fair share of sports back in her old academy. But she wasn't sure if she would be up to snuff compared to the other students who have family members who were Amityville alumni. She was the first in hers to be enrolled, and, well, nerves and general anxiety from being a small-town ghoul in a big academy did nothing for morale.

"I hope the learning curve isn't murder," she made a face at the prospect. She didn't mind studying, but she didn't want to be doing that all the time. There were clubs and oh Kasumi sounded like she would be trying out for the Fearleaders! "I do have plans to try out. One of the captains is an undead I've seen in the dorms and I've heard her talk about it," she explained. In no way did Tess ever hope to stand a chance in getting accept, what with her missing lower half. How was she supposed to do splits or anything involving hips? Maybe they wouldn't mind her doing aerial moves? "I'm definitely going to do my best to sign up for the human studies class. I need to know as much as I can about my future food source."

She chuckled lightly when Kasumi mentioned her worry about them constantly studying as she had the same thought, "I also heard there's a Maul nearby but I haven't been there yet."

Kasumi fidgeted a bit, as Tess' admitting she was nervous about gym class made her realize, well... "I'm a little nervous too. I mean, I don't have any muscles to work out. I mean, what happens if Miss Professor Red asks us to stretch or something? What would I do, stand there?" The ghost realized the same thing went for Fearleading. Not having a corporeal form had its obvious advantages and disadvantages. Of course she could pretend she was running around and flipping and flipping like a lunatic but she couldn't really sweat or feel tired or anything like that.

Or heck, she couldn't even really eat when Tess mentioned a food source.

Speaking of! "Since I used to be human, I'd love to learn about what it used to be like, you know?" Being born an undead meant Tess didn't necessarily know what it was like to have fleshy parts and have to go to a job and drive a car and whatnot. She remembered the basics. Or she thought she did. Butterflies outlined in neon floated past the vampire's head and it made Kasumi tilt hers in response. "You know, now that you mention a Maul, I wager you'd look positively frightening in some nice, bright colors, Tess. You strike me as a fashionable lady."

Perhaps sometime after things settled in, they could take a trip down to the Maul together to discover what it was like. But Kasumi didn't have anything in the way of cash with her. Did they get that from the school or something, or could you just take what you wanted? "I'll need supplies too but... what do we do in the way of money here?"

Maritess had never considered the difficulties a ghost went through. While the undead generally needed to limber up in the event of rigor mortis, her particular specie didn't have such challenges. "I'm sure the teachers will consider our conditions when giving out assignments. Maybe she'll ask you to help um, what was that term, check-spot the others? To see if they're doing it correctly?" her lips twisted into a frown as she struggled to think of the word.

Her train of thoughts derailed when Kasumi mentioned having been human. Huh, she wondered what happened to the other humans her family had eaten. Did they become ghosts too? Would they come back to get their revenge on her and her kin? That wasn't very proper. It's not as if they could help needing to eat humans! "That sounds like a very reasonable thing to want. To remember, I mean." Like wanting to remember what it's like to walk, Tess? She wryly thought to herself.

At the mention of being fashionable, Tess wanted to laugh. Instead she shook her head and tried her best not to look ashamed, "Everything I wear was chosen by my mother and approved by my father. I'm not allowed to dress improperly. But they never said anything about modifying the ones they already gave the okay on," she grinned, allowing a hint of mischief to flash in her eyes. "We use pumpkin seeds for currency. As for supplies, I think you can get some from Mr. Blobby."

(( I'm going to see if I can wrap it up here so we can start another one? Maybe for after gym class or something? surprised ))

Kasumi nodded as the flying vampire explained. Pumpkin seeds, eh? She wondered if there existed pumpkin fields full of the carcasses of squash due to raids for money. Maybe that was the equivalent of robbing a bank? Kasumi blinked, tapping her chin in thought. "I guess it's a good thing I don't have to worry about money yet, right? I can still raid the Lost and Found Bin for what I need for now, and then work up from there. That sounds like a plan, don't you think?" Indeed, it was the best she could come up with on such short notice as it was.

"Perhaps we can go shopping sometime, Tess? Would you want to even bother with pants?" the ghost giggled. Tess probably kept her legs in storage in her dorm and flitted about the halls in order to strengthen her wings. Just brilliant! Kasumi was quite grateful to have someone like her as a friend, and it showed. The ghost, if she could, would have beamed and glowed with pride. Just as she was about to compliment Tess and her brilliance, the bell began to ring, reminding Kasumi that she wanted to finish unpacking before classes started.

Darting ahead, the ghost turned to bow at the vampire. "Thank you very much, Miss Tess, for being so kind to me. I'll be sure to find you later, so we can sit and chat again. I hope that would be alright!" The ghost turned and mimicked a run as her form flew down the hall. So many things to unpack!
