Oh, four in one! This would be fun~! Ilex had Hyacinth wait outside once again as he fluttered inside the sleeping Park family home, humming as he decided on who he should visit first. Well, save the best for last! He went through the house until he found Daniel's room, moving quietly so he didn't upset the sleeping animals as well. They were so uncanny when it came to little fairies! Anyway, the creature found a shelf to set down a white rock speckled with gray and copper spots – a carbonatite to be exact. Ilex always found rocks and stones to be pretty, so it wasn't a bad gift as one may consider it. Underneath the rock, a yellow envelope with Daniel Park written across it was set.

Hi, Daniel~!! I know you've been pretty quiet this year and that's just how you normally are, but I still think you should go out sometime! Go meet some people, find friends, and.. just do stuff! You should get a more outdoorsy hobby! Have you ever thought of mining? It's a great exercise and really fun! Plus, I've been kinda lonely since the blacksmith went off on his honeymoon – it would be fun if you went to visit me! Anyway, here's a pretty rock I found – I hope you like it and be sure to keep it safe! Good luck, I hope to see you be more outgoing for now on! Try your best and don't give up~!!

Ah, now that that was done, Ilex left Daniel to go to the next room in mind – Alex's! He headed into the man's room and found a small table for his gift to be placed on. The boys first, then he had the girls to do.. Oh, he did love this house! A whole family under him~! Maybe they all could go to his shrine sometime?! And have a fun picnic – ah.. Well, it was a bit of an odd place to have a picnic, but.. oh, well. He set a nice, leather wristwatch for Alex on the desk, next to it the usual yellow envelope containing Alex's letter.

Oh, you've been doing okay this year, Alex! But, you've been too into work for my liking.. I know Hyacinth would like that in someone, but she's not yours to listen to! So, listen to me when I tell you you need to go out and find more friends! And visit me! Or the Goddess, she needs visitors too, but mostly me because I'm kinda bored.. Anyway, I'm happy you've been doing well and I hope you can continue with that spirit, but improving it is even better for you! Go out and find a girlfriend – have you ever thought of Rachel or Winifred? I think they both need some cheering up! You should ask one of them out for a picnic at the mine~! Um.. or the lake, it may be a prettier place to picnic.. I hope you like your watch! Visit me sometime!

Good, next was Elliot's room! He fluttered down the hallway to find the redhead's bedroom, him having to double check to make sure that kangaroo mouse thing of hers was sleeping too. It didn't take long for him to locate a desk for him to set down her gift.. Well, if a desk could fit it! He set his sack down, reaching deep inside it to pull out a much too large for such a small bag cuckoo clock! Two brass owls sat on top, while a pair of little people came out once every twelve hours to kiss above the face. Such a classic gift and he knew Elliot would be able to appreciate it! How did he know that? Oh, well, there was no need to ask that! He was her fairy after all! He moved aside a few books to set the clock down, pulling out her letter to set atop it too.

Elliot! I'm so happy you made a friend, even if she's a little weird and I don't know how good of a person she is.. Um, you should still have hope and understanding! I know you're a good enough person to not judge, but you're also so quiet, which is why I'm happy you have someone to spend time with! You should go out with Zhi more often and find more friends to play with, too. I'd be careful of Andy, though, she's.. kinda scary, but Usagi, Ai, and Blaire would make a good set of friends too! I'd like for you to visit me sometime, too – I mean, I can be a good friend too! Maybe take the whole family~? That'd be fun! In short skirts and tight shorts!! Keep up your hope in the coming year and have fun! I hope you like your clock~!

Yes, now, lastly was.. River~! Best for last! He started to giggle before slapping a hand over his mouth. Oh, he didn't want to wake any of them up! Especially not.. that fox. It was kind of scary, but he could handle it. He nodded and darted out of the room, traveling down the hall to find River's room. One moment to stop and check to see if she was asleep (especially that pet of hers), before he went in search of.. a desk! He smiled and cleared a small area for him to set down River's gift – candy! A basket full of different types of sugary treats~! Chocolate, gumdrops, taffy.. The majority of it was rock candy – Ilex's favorite! Atop the basket was another letter, this time with River Park's name on it.

You've done really good this year, River! It's why I gave you one of the best gifts out of everyone's!! I'm happy you've been going out so much and helping your siblings get to meet more people, but I think you should do the same sometimes too! You should find some more friends for yourself.. Rachel and Ethan could be good friends! Oh, so could Cid and maybe Winifred? Just take a look, I'm sure you can find lots of people you'd want to be friends with! I hope you have a fun year and get to make lots of friends, River! Be sure to visit me sometime or give the Goddess a visit – she likes the company, I bet~!

With that all done, Ilex left with Hyacinth to finish their work in the other houses.

After a hastily written journal entry, Zhi had three things in mind to get done. In one hand, she had a bag slung over her shoulder, while the other was brushing back her hair and fixing her dress to make sure she looked presentable. There was at least a 25% chance that River would be opening that door and Zhi wouldn't have her idol seeing her looking.. looking like she was in a rush. She always had time to stand around and talk to River! Even her Disney movies, which were bundled up and tucked away carefully in that bag among other things, could be put off for her. She checked her hair once again, cursing at herself for not having a mirror or something in her pocket to check her make up. The window's reflection could only help her so much! She craned her head about, trying to check every angle until she gave in. She looked decent at least. She nodded to herself confidently and knocked, waiting with a wide smile just in case~!

River had been happily reading on the couch with her fox on her lap. She was reading a real book too! Just because she was a little more enthusiastic and energetic than everyone else didn't mean that she wasn't smart! She may say stupid-sounding things on a regular basis, but she read a lot. Hell, if she hadn't been such an awful student in high school, she probably would have gotten decent grades. Granted, she was reading a book on the secret romances of samurai that probably had zero historical accuracy, but it was still reading!

Anyway, she was reading on the couch, Jaeja curled up on her lap, when someone knocked on the front door. She looked up for a moment before moving--was Alex back so soon? No, he wouldn't have knocked. He always brought his key, and even if by some freak accident he had forgotten it, he wouldn't have knocked so politely. He would have yelled for someone. He was good at that, yelling. So it wasn't Alex. She looked at Jaeja. "Who could it be?" she asked the little fox, who simply let out a yawn and stretched its front paws out in response to its owner's movements. Satisfied with this "reply", River quickly relocated Jaeja to the back of the couch and stood up, hurrying over to the door. Without bothering to check to see who it was, she swung the door wide open and stared up at Zhi. For a split second, she was startled, but it quickly gave way for her typical grin.

"Zhi!" she exclaimed cheerily. "What are you doing here? Did Elliot invite you?" River asked as she glanced towards the stairs. Elliot normally would warn her of guests, not that she got many of them.

Thank God Zhi had prepared for River opening the door! It was all Zhi was thinking as she looked at the brunette, smiling in approval to her appearance. What if she had seen how crooked her hairline was a second ago?! That would have been a disaster! She had to applaud herself for thinking quick on her feet and using the window like that! Not that she had time to, what with River being so.. well, there. The girl smiled back at River as politely as she could manage, shifting from leaning on her left leg to standing up straight, stiff as a board. Had she been invited? No.

Yes, Elliot and I were going to have a sleepover tonight. To study for the finals.” She added in explanation, just in case River got some odd idea that they were sleeping over to do something else. It did seem odd for a girl to want Zhi to sleep over in her room, after all, and – oh. It took a moment for her to realize that two girls having a sleepover was a totally normal thing, not something to really be misconstrued. ..So, it was pointless to be making an excuse.. Real smart. She didn't even have a textbook to make up for it! Now she was either going to seem forgetful, lazy, or a liar! She knew River wouldn't like any of those things, but.. she didn't have to study in front of her, right? Still, even if she didn't like the risk, she couldn't back out now. “And hang out.” But she could save herself a little in case River caught her and Elliot not studying. Now, back to studying River's face and hoping that Elliot wasn't home so she would have to wait with River in the living room.

River looked at Zhi blankly for a moment. Finals? Oh that's right, they still had those. She had never really paid attention to finals when she was in school, so she always forgot it was a normal thing. "Well, then, come in, come in!" she replied with a bright smile, waving the younger girl into the house. Closing the door behind her, she looked Zhi over, her eyes lingering at the bag. Oh, how exciting, a real sleepover. "Elliot didn't tell me there were finals. Must be rough." Again, not that she knew first-hand. But she remembered the nerds they used to harass always looked extra stressed around finals time. She paused for a moment before turning to face the stairs. "Elliot...! Zhi's here!" she called upstairs. There was a long silence, and then the sound of a door opening.

"She'll be down in a minute. Would you like anything to eat or drink?" River smiled at Zhi. Her mother always used to say that when she brought friends over, and it tickled to recite it herself. She was getting to play hostess again, it was so exciting~

Elliot stepped silently down the stairs, her eyes fixed onto Zhi the entire time. "...Hello, Zhi."

Zhi kept one hand on her duffel bag, steadying it so only her hips would sway when she walked through the door. Can't blame a girl for trying. She spent a short moment looking over the downstairs of the Park household, admiring just how nice and modern it all was. Nothing like that shed! Seriously, she didn't know why she hadn't thought to sleepover before. Elliot wouldn't tell her 'no', she would actually be ecstatic to have someone like Zhi over! ..Well, however 'ecstatic' someone like Elliot could get. Her eyes landed on the cute white fox-thing on the sofa, lighting up with interest and awe that a child at the zoo would have. She hadn't seen something like that before! It was so.. cute! And not like the fox that she thought River liked, she noted with memory of the Harvest Festival. It certainly was cuter than that creepy mascot costume she had on then. She looked back at River, done staring at the fox.

They're not for a few weeks, but it never hurts to start early.” She replied, easing any excitement to keep up that 'cool, calm' demeanor she held around River. She was sure that, while being perfectly awesome and cool in gangs and stuff, River kept a perfect report card alongside it! It was just all around perfection in Zhi's eyes and no comment or gesture could really get her out from thinking that.

No, thank you – I just had lunch.” Not really. She skipped that with the idea that she may be seeing River. She didn't want to feel fat during their meeting, after all! Now, hurry, she had to find something to talk about before it got awkward. She looked back at the fox on the sofa, considering that to be a good topic.. before she saw something else around that area that caught her eye. “You were read-...” She flipped her head back around her to look at River, just when Elliot made her slow descent down the stairs, forcing the girl to stop her inquiry. Damn it, she thought she would have more time! Now she had to go greet Elliot. She inwardly sighed and gave a small wave to the redhead, “Hey! I'm here for the sleepover.” Just to clue her in on what was going on.

River smiled at Zhi as she spoke. Really! They prepared for weeks? How odd! She wasn't sure why it was such a foreign concept, studying for a big test. Afterall, she had graduated from high school. But she had never paid much attention to final exams for some reason. And her high school was all too happy to have her gone, so they probably had overlooked some missing credits.

Elliot stared at Zhi at the mention of a 'sleepover'. "...Ah... yes... the sleepover," she nodded slowly. This was honestly the first time she had heard of anything, but she wasn't the type to get offended because Zhi hadn't warned her. In fact, she was pretty excited to have her over! Even if she didn't show it. At all.

River clapped her hands together happily. So it was true! Not that she had doubted Zhi, it was just if Elliot had confirmed it, it meant that something great was happening! "I can take your things, Zhi," she offered, holding out her hand.

Zhi nodded – hey, at least Elliot caught on pretty quick! Or it was more likely she thought she had forgotten, from Zhi's own view on the teen. It wasn't so late, just a little before dinner time and.. Zhi already planned on filling up on snacks and such during the movies. Speaking of which, River was pretty close to grabbing her bag! She didn't know what to do for a moment. Either let River have her bag and show her how much she loved a gracious host (River, specifically) or.. No, she was over thinking this!

She shook her head and pulled the bag closer to her side, “No, thank you, I'll be needing the books. I heard that Principal LeBlanc is going to be very tough during the final exams, so it's best if we start as soon as possible.” Well, she was honest on that rumor. It was pretty obvious – Judith was a total slave driver. As soon as she was in charge, the workload had almost doubled and they had at least a five-page-essay to write every week! Sometimes even more than that! Only issue now was that going upstairs was her only option, if she didn't want to just stand there and do an Elliot. Yes, Elliot's blank, expressionless stare was now a verb, go figure.

Er, we'll be watching a few movies later, if you want to join us. It's not car chases and samurai,” Aside from Mulan I & II, those could be counted as samurai, she guessed. “but, yeah.” She ended with a cleared throat and now decided that she should take her leave. She went to the stairs and started up them, “Let's go, Elliot.” Just so she wasn't the only one leaving – that would be awkward!

River was a little disappointed that Zhi had declined her offer, but knowing herself, she probably would have gotten overly excited and would run off with the bag. And then what would they study with? Her slight slump didn't last long, however, as she cheered up almost instantly at the mention of movies. "Sure! I'd love to! That is, if you don't mind me intruding," she added, to be polite. But really, she would have invited herself either way.

Elliot followed Zhi up the stairs as she called for her to follow, while River smiled up at them. "I'll go call Alex and tell him you're here," she said before disappearing into the kitchen.

Elliot stared at the back of Zhi's head, trying to figure out why she was there. She wondered if she was really just there to study, but couldn't figure out how to ask. When they reached the top of the stairs, Elliot passed by and led her to own room. Bokonon was in its cage on the floor, and aside from that, it was surprisingly bare. Or not, considering her nature. Elliot was quiet for a moment before she looked at Zhi. "Studying?" she asked, which was her (unsuccessful) attempt to ask why Zhi was really there.

Oh, no. Did Zhi just hurt River's feelings?! One half of her informed her that firstly, River was too cool to have feelings and, secondly, she was related to Elliot, no way she could actually be expressing feelings. It was probably more like hidden rage that she – No, River was still a SHE. She had feelings and she had just brushed them off like.. oh, she was happy again. Wonderful! Zhi was about to get worried and maybe hug River in an attempt to get her to cheer up, which would have been.. really fun. Damn, now she was conflicted on wanting River to be hurt so she could comfort her or wanting her to be happy with Zhi. Ah, woe is the name of a teenage girl in love! She inwardly sighed and watched River hop off before heading after Elliot into the girl's room. Once inside, she took a look around. It was the first time she had been in another girl's room since, well, 'then'. Though, she didn't think she could honestly call it a girl's room when it was Elliot's room. Pretty blank and boring, aside from the cute Bokokon in the cage. She found a place to drop her duffel bag (which was pretty easy) and then turned to Elliot.

She gave her a look as though the girl was insane, “No. The sǐ sānbā will probably just fail us if we don't get a perfect score anyway.” She stated bitterly, using her favorite nickname for Judith. She used to have such pride in good grades, but now that Judith had taken over, she had become just another average student. She was only a few points above being a C student and that always irritated her. “Besides, didn't you hear? River wants to watch a movie with us, so, as her sister, you'll have to tell me.” She got down on her knees and unzipped the duffel bag, starting to take out the multitude of DVDs she had ordered through the mail and spread the out beside her. “What would River like?” All of the movies were, of course, Disney. Just about every Disney movie, as well as a few of it's smaller studios, title could be presumed to be there. Zhi hadn't spent more than half of Kotone's charity money on nothing, after all!

Ahh, that made more sense. Elliot nodded in agreement with what Zhi was staying. There was really no way they would do well unless they did perfectly, and Elliot didn't feel like trying that hard. She had managed to fall under the radar of the principal up until that point, and she didn't really want to gain her attention, even if it was because she had aced the test. She was happy being ignored.

"Disney?" Elliot looked down at the DVDs that Zhi had spread out on her floor. "You like Disney, Zhi?" she wouldn't have thought her the type to like cartoons. "Uhm... Alice in Wonderland, Robin Hood, The Rescuers, Mulan..." she listed, pointing to the DVDs as she went through. River liked anthropomorphic animals and action. "Why River, though? Why not what you like?" Elliot asked after a moment of thought. Zhi was acting a little odd, she thought.

So, both of the girls were in agreement that they wouldn't try with Judith. Good! Zhi would have felt some sort of shame if she was the only one giving up, but if even Elliot was admitted defeat this early, then it was safe to assume most of the others were too. Plus, River seemed to like Elliot, so sticking with Elliot's decisions on things like that seemed to be the best bet to stay in River's favor should the topic come up. Not that Zhi wouldn't try to look as perfect as River was, but it was nice to know just in case something backfired.

She nodded at Elliot, confused as to why she had to ask that. She thought most people loved Disney! Why else would they still be making so many movies after such a long time? Besides, it was fun! The cute, simple characters, a magical, but easily empathized with dilemma, then always a tie in with a happy ending! It was perfection! Plus, she always felt some kind of kinship with the princesses. Ariel especially, but Zhi hadn't had a chance to watch much more than a few movies. Despite her collection, she didn't own a DVD player, so she was stuck just reading the summaries and staring at the pictures on the cover. “Hm.” She hummed out in response simply, looking over the movies Elliot picked. She hadn't seen any of them, so it was just a matter of picking what looked the best. The mice were cute, but she knew that River liked foxes, so Robin Hood had to be at the top of the stack.

She kept the others that River would like to the side, Robin Hood on her lap as she worked on putting the rest of her collection back into the bag. She paused, Sleeping Beauty in hand when Elliot continued. Why River..? That was too obvious for words! But, if she told Elliot everything she was thinking on the girl's older sister, then she may spill it and.. well, even if Zhi hadn't had the nerve to confess to River, she still wanted to do it herself. She was a woman! She could take rejection or, and she really hoped it was this, acceptance herself without having to send a messenger. So, she went back to putting the DVDs into the bag. “It's polite. I asked River to watch a movie with me, so I should put something on that she likes.

...Polite. Elliot tilted her head to the side slightly. Was it really that important to be polite? They weren't strangers. They had spoken on several occasions, so did they need to be formal? She didn't understand. Maybe she couldn't understand. Probably first she'd need to figure out why Zhi liked River so much. She loved her sister, don't get her wrong, but River wasn't Zhi's sister. It didn't make much sense!

"But she wouldn't mind. She's not picky," Elliot continued to push the issue, but not for longer. For whatever reason, Zhi wanted to be on River's good side, and she wouldn't get in the way.

As if right on cue, River' footsteps came hurrying up the stairs, down the hall, and then the woman herself appeared in the doorway. "Hey, I called Alex, and he'll be out late tonight. Since you won't have to worry about bothering him, do you two want to move downstairs?" When Alex talked about staying out late, it meant he was pulling an all-nighter and staying at work. River glanced down and noticed the DVDs. "Oh, Disney movies?"

Zhi rolled her eyes at Elliot. Wouldn't mind? Not picky? Please, Zhi didn't want to just be 'okay' with River, she wanted to be 'perfect' with her! Then maybe that 'perfect' could be dragged over to a few other subjects in the woman's life and.. and, well, Zhi could hope. She didn't have a chance to tell Elliot any of that – or some kind of cover up yet again – for River herself opened the door to shut her up real quick. She looked down at the DVDs she still had left to put away, then to the duffel bag that was wide open, showing off the complete lack of textbooks for their 'study session'. She took only a split second to decide on which to cover up first, diving for the duffel bag in the end and zipping it up. Her thoughts had been on why she should bother hiding Disney DVDs when it was silly not to like them, but those flipped right around when she heard River speak. There wasn't excitement or joy or any of the excessive emotions Zhi had predicted. It was a simple, flat question asked idly with a bit of curiosity in there. That meant she must hate them!

Yes, I've only seen one before a long time ago and I wanted to try watching another one again to see if they were good.” The lack of experience in Disney movies should have her saved from any embarrassment in case River stated that she hated them or something along those lines. “Move downstairs? Er, yeah, for the movies.. I think studying up here would be more comfortable, though.” She replied while standing up, taking whatever DVDs were left out of the bag along with the Elliot's picks. “Do you want to watch them now?” If so, then Zhi would happily follow them downstairs to put the movie in~! Hopefully it would be that, because she really did want to watch the movies! It had been weeks since she had gotten them, which was too long for her to wait.

River's face lit up at Zhi's proposal. It was almost like she was being invited to the sleepover, too! She had never been to a real sleepover. Sleepovers for her as a teenager consisted mainly of her and her friends loitering around places. "Yes, yes, yes! Studying can wait~" Well, there went hostess-River. She was saying some reckless things; it was good that Zhi and Elliot were older, otherwise she'd be afraid of them copying her attitude. Of course, not now, but later in her life, when she was wiser and more considerate.

"You guys can go head on downstairs. I'll go get some pillows and blankets and snacks. Elliot, you know how to use the DVD player, right?" Elliot nodded, then gestured for Zhi to follow as she made her way downstairs to the living room. "Which one do you want to watch, Zhi?" she asked, once they were away from River.
