"If we spoke seagull I'm sure we'd find they have the same opinion about us." Mercury had begun to slowly walk forward. Their current tide pool wasn't the only one; there seemed to be a tunnel in the rocks that led to another complete, minature ocean world.
Mercury felt the need to move, because he was a tad nervous. He had a question he'd wanted to ask Amaidi, but so far had yet to acquire the guts needed to just ask. He was hoping for a sign maybe, something that just pushed him into action instead of leaving him dithering.
All of this he tried not to show on his face or in the way he walked.

Amaidi cocked her head over at mercury he seemed to be nervous about something. He was walking fine and seemingly acting fine, but being a girl made her think some thing was wrong. She shook her head, she wasn't one to pry into things a person didnt want to share and so she silently followed behind the rainbow swirled fox. "yes I'm pretty sure it would" she smiled back at the sea gull comment

"Amaidi." The word was just as abrupt as his sudden stop. Mercury decided to just grit and teeth and go for it. But, rather than the question he wanted to ask, an evasion popped out instead. Still a productive evasion, but an evasion nonetheless. "You know I think the world of you, right?"
((Might have put that out too quick. It's hard to stretch a single event over five pages >.> ))

Amaidi paused and turned around to look at mercury. She slowly nodded wondering just what Mercury was going on about. He wasnt going to say they needed to stop seeing each other was he. "uh yes" she said very nervously wondering what was going to happen next.
(lol thats true.... and there she goes having the wrong idea)

"Well, and I was hoping-," Mercury stammered, squirming in place like a small kit who had to do something embarassing. It was too late for him to back out now though, Amaidi probably wouldn't have let him even if he could. "I was hoping that you...you think the world of me too?"
Black fur meant that blushes couldn't be seen, but if you stood close enough you could feel it. Mercury was throwing off enough heat for three foxes!

Amaidi giggled, suddenly quite relieved that it wasnt what was running through her mind and leaned forward to gently lick mercury's cheek. Where ever he seemed to be going with this he was definitely having a hard time. "Of course I do silly. Why would I think anything other wise"

"But we're not," Mercury started, then paused as he tried to find the correct words. He didn't want to give Amaidi the wrong impression, but it was difficult to ask in a way that didn't seem at least a little off.
"We've never talked about whether we would become mates, or if this was just a...a brief romance." Okay, that didn't quite come out right either.

Amaidi made a funny face before tilting her head to the side. "well you see. It doesn't really matter what we finally decide as. If we go as a fling and then break apart I will be extremely sad I believe but you still will mean a lot to me, because I had the pleasure of meeting you." She tried to explain. "because even then, I would hope that we would still be friends."

"What if-, What if I don't want this to be just a brief romance?" Mercury's voice was very quiet to start with, but grew in volume in confidence towards the end.
He scuffed a paw against the rocks, claws making gentle clicking noises. A small pebble in the way took a trip over the edge, clattering down the short distance until a tiny plop indicated it had joined the ocean aquarium below.

Amaidi paused in looking into tide pool and glance back up at Mercury smiling. "ah well I would have to say I would be very happy. I already said I also thought the world of you. Why would I think other wise if you wanted to have more than just a fling?" Amaidi laughed leaning over and licking Mercury on top of his muzzle.

"Really," Mercury asked, voice hopeful as he looked up. "You love me enough to become my mate? To belong only to me as I would belong only to you?"

Amaidi choked a bit in her statement and looked down at the ground her eyes getting rather watery in happiness. She turned up and looked at Mercury with a happy smile. "really? I... yes. I would. I do very much." she nodded frantically.

((Mercury isn't the leapy and hollerin' type, so he's just gonna be almost critically stunned. Cue the shove into the tide pool XD ))
Mercury was effectively rendered speechless by Amaidi's answer. He knew she always said she loved him and everything, but deep down he'd always wondered how someone like hiim managed to have the luck to end up with someone like her.
It would take a long time for his brain to start processing again. When it did it would take him through a list of people who needed to know, Runaiu definetly being one, all the changes that would come with it, the possibility of a family. That one would leave him stunned even longer than the realization he was now a mated fox.
The list can go on and on. To sum it up, Mercury would be quite lost inside his head for the better part of an hour unless given outside stimuli

"uh mercury.... mercury?" Amaidi asked waving her paw in front of his face. She rolled her eyes and tried waving again. "Mercury, gah you" and with that the normally bubbly vixen pushed her mate into the safe end of the tide pool.

What was that whoosing sound? It was like wind, but different. All of a sudden Mercury's world was nothing but water. The black and rainbow male paddled his way up the the surface.
"Tidal wave! Women and children first! Don't worry Amaidi, I'll save you!"
Clearly there were still some disorientation issues.
