If I may suggest, if there are any newcomers who are unfamiliar with all this "make stuff up and play" businees, might I suggest you visit this thread. It was a little something I put up quite a ways back with the hopes of attracting community involvement, adn thus increase interest in RP'ing in the GGG. Alas, other fates did unfold. But if you are interested, or just looking for something to read and pass the time, go check it out!

I have a few thoughts on cheese. First on storage. Because of the fat content in cheese, it is not recommended that one stores cheese in direct contact with plastic. There may be some leaching of potentially hamful chemicals [specifically bisphenol A or BPA] into your cheese. This is theoretical of course, but why take a chance? Harmful stuff can cause bad things like impotence, blindness and irrepressible laughter at awkward moments.
The American Cheese Society makes the following recommendations:
1. Always rewrap cheese in fresh wrapping, preferably in waxed or parchment paper, after the cheese has been opened to avoid having the cheese dry out or pick up other flavors. Remember that natural cheese is a living organism, with enzymes and bacteria that need air and moisture to survive. Thus, rewrapping the cheese in paper and then in plastic wrap to create a microenvironment for the cheese is the preferred storage treatment. However, you should not leave cheese in the same wrappings for extended periods of time.
2. The recommended temperature range for storing cheese is between 35 and 45 degrees Fahrenheit, at a high humidity level, preferably in the bottom vegetable/fruit bin. To avoid accidentally freezing the cheese, don’t store it near the freezer compartment or in the meat bin.
3. Double wrap strong, pungent cheeses, such as blue, aged brick, or washed rind varieties, to avoid having their aromas permeate other foods. It is best to place these cheeses in an airtight container for extra assurance against aroma leakage. And it’s best to store cheeses separately if possible, especially blues, washed rinds and milder cheeses, as they will pick up each other’s flavors.
4. If cheeses other than fresh cheeses and blues have surpassed their expiration dates (imprinted on the packaging) or if the cheese develops a blue-green mold on the exterior, make a cut about a ½ inch below the mold to ensure that it has been entirely removed; the remaining cheese will be fine.
5. In general, never freeze natural cheeses, as they may lose their texture, and in some cases their flavor profiles will be seriously altered. If you must freeze cheese, allow the cheese to thaw slowly in the refrigerator and use it for cooking, as the texture will become crumbly and dry after it is defrosted.
6. If stored and wrapped cheeses are overly dry, develop a slimy texture, exhibit ammoniated or any off odors, it’s best to discard them. If you find these characteristics in cheeses at your local shop, do not purchase them, as they are past their prime. If a retailer’s offerings consistently display the above characteristics, it’s best to find another resource for your cheese.
I have also given the subject of wet cheese some thought and it is my considered opinion that the cheese is sweating, despite whatever temperature it may be in. And why would a cheese sweat? Well, think about it. Wouldn't you be nervous if knew you were destined for a sandwich or worse, a casserole or tex-mex taco and then gobbled down without so much as a by your leave? Refer back to #1 if you will and remember that cheese IS a living organism! Cheeses are people, too! And we sweat when we are nervous, don't we? I personally have noticed Tes sweating on more than one occasion. Icy might never have sweated, but I don't think she gets nervous, so she doesn't count. Anyway, that's my two cent's worth and really what I was hoping for was a post that was longer than Tes's. I'm going to do a word count now, and if it's not longer, I can always edit, right?

I would definitely be nervous if I knew I was about to be eaten. However, would the cheese be sentient enough to know that it is about to be eaten?

Ah, so it is sentience that determines ummm important things. Pish posh on sentience is all I have to say about that. Knightmaer loves me and that is what counts. Love is a many splendored thing. *sneaks in through a window when he thinks no one is around to tack a couple of things on the bulletin board. As he's tacking up the flyer done in purple, one of the staff members happens to walk by and he quickly pretends like he was just reading it and not putting it there himself ninja The staff member rolls her eyes at him and returns to the front desk. Mumbling incoherently to himself, he tacks up the second flyer and crawls back out the window, even though there isn't really a point to doing so. It just seemed like a good idea at the time*

*Walks in and reads the info on the bulletin board and nods. She goes up to the person at the desk.* Where is the sign up sheet for the trick-or-treat thing?  *The person behind the desk pulls out a clipboard and hands it to her along with a pen. She grins as she takes the clipboard, fills in the info and signs. She slides the clipboard back to the person.* You tell TES or Ryzan to let me know what we need to do. wink You think you can handle that Sport? *She then turns and pulls out her iphone as she walks out of the place making sure she enters Nei's Birthday information into it.*
