You seem quite wise to me. I don't really have anything to believe in other then I love my gray angel. Without her I feel lost and alone. I shouldn't stay that way though. At least that's what your words tell me. If I do I might end up bringing trouble to her... I don't want that. I will find a strength of my own and grow so that when I see her again I will be able to hold my head up and tell her about new and fun things since I last saw her, rather then clinging to her and dragging her down. Charis answered Leo's question with perhaps the most long winded speech of his life. Strangely enough it didn't bother him to reveal so much of himself to such a total stranger. Perhaps because in spite of what he says he does seem sage-like. Charis shifted his wings and stretched a little on the branch thinking things over.

Leo nodded, sitting and turning his gaze to view the forest. "Very wise. If your whole life is based on your love for someone, if that's all that gives it meaning, you lose touch with the essence of yourself. If that makes any sense."
Leo could give examples from his own life. When he was with Aegle he forgot this side of himself, how wild and connected with nature he became. He was acutely aware of the tree beneath him and the pride that radiated from it that it's strong branches could easily lift these furred ones. With Aegle his focus was more on her, and matters that concerned other foxes. To remember this side of himself he had to be away from her. Balance, it was all about balance in life.

Nodding his head was all of the indication that Charis gave that he heard and understood Leo's words. Calmly gazing at the sensory from their perch in the tree Charis couldn't help but wonder at the view. The landscape was beautiful and thriving. It reminded him of Az though. I'll have to go someplace far away if I'm going to learn to stand on my own. What a nice view. This was the only comment he stated as he started plotting out where he would go in his life.

"If you think this is amazing, you would love Omaticaya lands. The trees there make all these look like babies. It's especially pretty at night, a lot of the plants naturally phosphoresce and light up the ground." A wind ruffled the crowns of the nearby trees so that the branches seemed to nod in agreement.

I probably would. Though if I stayed I would only be reminded of her, and that wouldn't end well. Charis had an itch right at the base of his wing. It was starting to really bug him but he couldn't dispel it by simply twitching the area and he thought it would be rude to rub the spot on the tree trunk right in front of another fox so he suffered in silence. His face showed a hint of mild irritation though.

Leo noticed Charis' wing twitching and the stiffness of his body, like it wanted to scratch. "Bug bitin' ya," the green male asked. He looked around and found a small branch just below them. Carefully he lowered his body onto it, pacing around a bit to find a comfortable spot. Sitting still for long when in the presence of others wasn't in his nature.
"If I may ask, why does this place remind you of your mate? Did you meet her in a forest," Leo asked, craning his head up to see Charis.

Charis blushed and nodded. So Leo had noticed. Charis leaned over the branch to look at Leo wondering why he had moved. No. The first time we went on a date was in a forest though. Charis leaned over to far and ended up taking a tumble down to a lower branch. He winced in pain and shifted his back. He had landed on his wings and they hurt! oooch. Well this sucks. He was afraid to roll over to get up fearing that he would roll right off the branch that had caught him. Well at least the spot that was itching does anymore. That's a plus right?

Leo couldn't help a slight snicker. It wasn't too often you saw a clumsy Phim. He crawled down to the branch cluster when Charis had fallen. The branches gave a little under his weight, but were solid enough to hold the two foxes.
He moved forward very slowly, trying to put as little weight on the branches. He carefully grabbed Charis' scruff and pulled. Slowly the Phim was turned on his side. Leo released Charis, allowing him to continue rolling over on his own.

Thank you. Charis was blushing even harder. I can't believe I fell! So much for being used to trees. Without help I would have eventually had to roll out of the tree. That would not have been a good plan Charis decided on. His left wing was numb and he was having trouble moving it. The result. His right wing was tucked up close to his body while his left hung down. I don't think anything's broken but it's definitely a bad sprain. I won't be fling anytime soon. He sighed internally at this thought and waited for Leo to burst out laughing rather than just snickering. I look like a fool.

Leo examined the Phim, paying attention to how he moved his wings. He had no personal idea how bady they might be injured, but with Phims in the tribe and watching birds he did know they were just as delicate as they were strong.
"You didn't injure anything, did you," the green male asked. He wasn't sure if the Phim would be able to get down from the tree without flying, since most weren't very good climbers. As a reflex he looked down, mentally noting which branches would make the best path to the ground if he needed them.

My left wing. Charis sighed. He really was hopeless. He sat on his back legs as he manually shifted his wing tucking it close to his body. He winced in pain as he did so. It's not broken I don't think... Taiat held on to his wing a bit longer feeling out the bones just in case. So far no damage. Now how was he going to get down?

Leo turned, trotting further up the branch so that it wouldn't bounce so much when he removed his weight from it. He hopped down, this time on a branch that was perhaps a tad too thin to hold Charis.
He looked upward at the white and rust Phim. "What kind of climber are you?"

Thankfully Charis had a firm hold where he was sitting when Leo went to a different branch. Even the slight bouncing was enough to unnerve the Phim who couldn't save himself from falling by flying. His one good wing spread to it's full extent so quickly it caused a wave of pain to Charis. He shut his eyes for a moment.The kind that falls. He looked at the branch Leo had jumped to and didn't dare risk getting onto it. He was scared.

Leo grinned ruefully. He sometimes forgot, squirrel that he was, that climbing didn't come naturally to everyone.
"Alright then. Just sit there for a moment. Get your balance, clear your head. I'll look for a path that you can take, as easy as I can make it."
The green male hopped downward from his branch, free-falling for almost six feet before landing on another broad branching. He contiued the drop-style of decent until he reached the ground, then began to circle the tree to find the simplest way back up to the branch Charis sat on.

Charis had no intention of moving until Leo showed him a way down. The green fox didn't have to say sit to make Charis stay as scared as he was. Charis's heart nearly stopped when he watched Leo just drop like he did unto another branch. He had been certain that he was going to be witness to the death of the green fox. How does he do that without wings? Is he insane? Doesn't he know how dangerous that is?
