And Your Voice Was All I Heard...

Pyry looked to the sushi, putting some of that on his plate first. His gaze turned to her, his eyes widening faintly as she claimed to want to eat him. It took him a moment to register the joke and, when he did, he relaxed once more. He had heard of a children's story where a witch had fattened up two children before preparing to eat them, and this immediately came to mind. He didn't quite understand why in the world people would tell their children such awful stories about other children being eaten, but he assumed there must have been some reason for it. Fighting with his chopsticks a minute, he manages to get a piece of fish into his mouth before she asked her question.

Looking thoughtful as he chewed and swallowed, his choice is nearly made for him; he didn't know his way around electronics, and he didn't know much about modern subjects excepting one. "American Sign Language." he answers a few moments after swallowing the food in his mouth. Now, one might wonder how a spirit knew the main language used by the deaf in the United States {and some of Canada}, so he felt the need to explain. "Adney's little sister was deaf, so he and his brother both learned ASL so they could communicate with her. After I ran into the Sol brothers, they taught me the language. It is very convenient if you are busy eating, or are too far away." among other things, but these seemed to be the more common uses. They'd also use it if they were having a private conversation that they didn't want anyone else to understand, or if they were communicating secretly. Eating another piece of sushi, Pyry turns his attention to Mizuki once more. "If you weren't a popstar or a teacher, what would you do?"

Mizuki giggled before she got up and grabbed a fork. It was easy to tell that Pyry could use chopsticks so well. She passed him the fork before going back to her seat. She really didn't care that he didn't know how like she did. Mizuki probably had more practice than he did. She then continued listening to him talking about what he would do. She gasped in surprised. "So that explains why you both make those weird hand movements." She mentioned remembering them doing that in front of her a couple of times when they were together. Then the popstar/teacher question came into play. "I don't know. I don't really have to even work because of my father. He would probably marry me off to some lord or something. I would probably be partying." Mizuki thought it was best that he learned a little about what her relationship between her father and her.
"I chose to leave home when my father and I started to disagree about foreign relationships. After that happened I left home and started to go to school here. From there I did online study to get my degree while I released a couple of CD's." She told him. Confessing how her life played out. She may act and be a princess, but she was still fair minded and smart.

Accepting the fork with a look of embarrassment, he decides it best not to mention that he'd only just gotten used to the most basic of eating utensils. He nodded as she realized they had been having private conversations in secret, wondering just how much they'd be able to get by her now. One of their favorite things to do was hold random conversations in the presence of others, and see how long it took them to figure it out. It was never anything relevant, and if one could understand what they were saying, they'd learn quite a bit about Pyry's new book or Adney's new favorite song.

As she answered his question, he started in on a piece of Tempura. Chewing as he listened, his expression becomes rather flat at the mention of marriage. "Adney and I couldn't afford to go to school to get our teaching degree, so Reed's paid for it." he stabbed another piece of fish with his fork, lifting it slowly to his lips. "And in return we're trapped here for seven years." not that either of them minded, really; they knew what they had signed up for.

It was interesting how they got their own teaching degree. It was different from her. She just payed her way through schooling. She had the money to do so and even if she didn't there was still the political scholarships that she could use if worst came to worst. "At least Reed's school is a great place to get trapped." She mentioned before taking a bite from her rice. It was a nice break from all the flavor and a good transition from other types of food. Not that fish was bad.
Mizuki pushed her hair back. Revealing her stitches on her head. It was a nice gash. Most likely leave her her first scar. It didn't matter. Pyry still liked her. That's all that counted at the moment. "So what countries or places do you want to visit?" She asked trying to figure meals for the next time they had a dinner date. Almost all countries in the world had fish dishes that she probably had a fish for.

Nodding in agreement as she commented on Reed's, he doesn't say that he didn't care where he was stuck as long as his friend was there. He was glad he was stuck here, though, as it had led to his meeting the woman across the table. Restraining a small smile at the thought, he transfers another piece of fish from his plate to his mouth. He notices her push her hair back from her face, though if it hadn't been for the odd color of the stitches, he wouldn't have noticed at all.

Her next question was slightly more difficult, as Pyry wasn't exactly a geography master, and probably couldn't name half the countries on the map. Not that most people could either, but he had never been much interested in the outside world. It was hard to worry about other countries when you were focusing on having your next meal on the streets of the city. Taking his time as he thought, he chewed and swallowed another piece of fish before answering. "Alaska." he answers finally, picking the location for various reasons. They spoke English, and it was supposedly rather cold. Most of the state wasn't populated, which suited him just fine. As much as he loved the water, the snow and ice suited him much better. "I think I would like to take a boat there, and then just wander around the place. Maybe climb a mountain...." his tone was surprisingly casual, as if this would be no big feat; difficult as it may be for a human, Pyry would feel right at home in the freezing temperatures. He had seen pictures and postcards of the landscape, and had long since decided it would be a worthwhile place. Keeping the different food items separate on his plate, he pushes one piece of sushi to the side in preparation to eat it. "Where would you like to go?" he asks, turning the question back on her.

Mizuki's eyes lighted up with delight of his choice. For a different reason than he had. She though of the cool weather and the beaches along with the many sea animals in the state. There were plenty of new friends to make. The only thing that could be better to her was Australia, Hawaii, or California. They were probably not popular spots because of their warmth for Pyry. "I like any place with water. Alaska is a really nice choice. My ancestors came from Denmark so the cool water would be in my blood." She commented. Then again she was mixed. Just like rulers of the past her family married other ruling mermaid families to gain alliances.
Mizuki knew that though she may like Pyry it didn't mean they were distened to be together and she needed to ask questions to find if there was something there between them or if she should look else were. In all truth the ice spirit was her first real relationship. "Hm... What scares you a lot?" She wanted to make sure that she didn't do something that would drive him away from her. She wanted to stay by his side as long as they didn't have a force to drive them away.

Not positive where Denmark was, he decides it must be somewhere within Northern Europe. Leaving it at that, he seems satisfied that his choice wasn't a poor one. Though he was being honest, he couldn't help but wonder if one of his answers would affect her poorly. Continuing to eat his way through the food on his plate, he hesitates at her next question. What scared him? What an interesting question.

He flashed back to his first year or so in the human world; everything was so different than his home. The flashing lights of the city were fascinating and, as he'd shortly found out, were very hot to the touch. He'd nearly gone mad from the noise of the cars, and all the smells that combined in the air were strong. From the time that he first entered the city limits, his senses were continually assaulted. He was like a lost kitten until he had met the Sol brothers and, even afterwards, was fairly jumpy. He still had no idea how to work some of the most simple of electronics, as it didn't help that they'd had little to no access to such things while on the streets, and so some of them still disturbed him. He especially did not like microwaves.

"Guns." he finally decides, remembering the time one was pulled on them. "They are unnecessarily loud, and produce this odd shaped pieces of metal that cause great pain when hit. Digging them out is also very painful, especially when the digger is armed only with a knife."

Mizuki flinched at the thought of the bullet. She had never had one hit her and she hoped that she never had to feel that experience. It would be pain full. Then again she was mauled by a shark like thing. That was painful enough for her. "That does sound terrible. Then again I can't say much." She touched her stitches with her broken arm. It hurt to raise it too high like she had just done. The pain distorted her face and she quickly returned her arm to her side to ease the pain. The woman then took a drink of tea to help hide the pain though it was easy to see on her face.
"I've never been afraid in much. I guess I'm lucky." The women commented trying to get off the subject. It wasn't a had topic for Pyry. It was just bad for her. She put her eyes on her boyfriend. "Why don't you ask some questions. I'm sure there are things about me you would like to learn." Mizuki had learned once to never make the conversation about him, him, him what about her, her, her. That a modest manners were not always the best.

Waching her carefully, noting the pained expression on her face. He wonders briefly if he should inquire about pain killers. She seemed to be trying to hide it, and so he decides he would insist afterwards. "Adney is very good with a knife, and it was out quite quickly. I am luck it only hit my leg." though at the time he'd been screaming curses in the language of his world, though he feels only a phantom pain looking back on it. Continuing to eat, he keeps his eyes mostly on her, a faint look of suspicion on his features.

At her suggestion, he pauses to think. He didn't want to barge forward and ask mindless questions when he the opportunity to learn something useful was laid in front of him. Chewing and swallowing thoughtfully, he glances down at his now clear plate. There was still plenty of food, and so he begins his own interrogation while refilling his plate. "What are your hobbies? Besides singing and dancing."

Mizuki made a smile on her face as she came up with a clever answer. She still thought of what else she would say to go with the answer. She nibbled some tempura as she though about it. She really didn't do much else now that she thought of it. Her eyes glanced at Pyry as he grabbed more food. She was happy her food was good enough for a second round. "Swimming." She answered him teasing a little. "I like fashion and cooking a little." She continued.
To say she liked fashion a little was an understatement. It was more of a love fashion. Her closet and drawers were filled with different pieces that someone who was 'in' would wear. The woman's thoughts turned. What if she was boring. She really didn't do a lot of things that normal people did and her things were that interesting. Not like collecting or traveling. A little bit of fear creep into her mind.

A small smile lifted his features at her teasing response, and it becomes obvious that he should have seen that coming. He noted the glint of pride in her eyes as he picked his way across the plates of food to fill his own; if given the chance, he'd probably eat everything on the table. This would be rude, however, and he would restrain himself.... but not just yet. Sorting the food on his plate into separate piles, he begins with another piece of sushi. He hadn't taken the time to really look at her clothing when in her dresser, being far too embarrassed, but according to Adney most women were picky about their clothes.

Now that his first question was answered, he began searching for another. Chewing contentedly on a new piece of fish, he searches for a new inquiry. "If you could be granted one thing, anything in the world, what would you ask for?" he asks, wondering briefly if it was too personal. He hoped it wasn't; he was curious, as he had been presented with the same situation earlier.

That was a good question. One thing. Just one. There were some many things in the world that she wanted. How could she pick one. All the latest fashions, all her songs and albums become hits, finding the right relationships in live. The teacher ate another piece of tempura as she thought of the right thing to answer. Once she took a moment she knew the answer. She looked Pyry in the eyes. "I wish to have piece of mind. I wish everything would be alright." She answered. It was a selfish answer and it was very philosophical. If she was fine then so were all the people around her.

Considering her answer a moment, part of it seemed odd to Pyry. "Peace of mind does not necessarily mean everything will be alright." he points out, piercing another piece of fish with his fork. The belief that everything would turn out right and everything actually turning out right were two different things, and yet he understood her answer. Even if everything worked itself out, stress and worry was enough to drive someone mad. Peace of mind was definitely something worth having.

Taking his time, Pyry continued to dig a path through his plate. He was having trouble searching for another question that wouldn't easily be answered by more time together, and so speared another piece of fish. Is there anything else I should know?" he asks, this question rather broad. Were there any other aliases she worked under, anymore overly muscled men that would be glaring at him, or anything else that would be important.

Mizuki munched on her food. She ate on the slower side. She was one of those girls who seemed to chew fifty times. That was unless she was in a hurry. She never saw a need to eat very face. It also allowed her belly to fill so she didn't over eat. It was one of her many secrets to staying thin. She then swallowed her mouthful to talk to Pyry more. "True. It does however let me have a clear mind to figure out things as they happen." She confessed. The girl pushed back away from the table. Showing that she was full.
"Hm. I don't know. I'm a princess in secret and a hit popstar, I teach dance classes and I'm a mermaid who loves swimming." She had to thing. She was pretty much restating what they had already talked about long before this moment. "I have twenty brothers and sisters. Most of them are older so there is little chance to get the throne unless there is an outcry for me to do so." She told him. Mizuki didn't want Pyry think she was out of his range. She was only a princess because her father was a king. Once people thought of it she was probably closer to a Baroness.

Twenty siblings? That was a lot. At least, he thought it seemed like a lot. He couldn't know for sure, as the only family he knew for comparison was Adney's, and it wasn't as if they were royal. Or mermaids, for that matter. Eating one more piece of seafood before setting down his fork, he nods to accept her statement. It still seemed a ridiculous amount, but he didn't see the point in commenting further. Smiling faintly, Pyry leans against the back of his chair. "Thank you for the meal... It was very good."

He made a mental note not to let her cook to often; he had a feeling he might gain quite a bit of weight if she did. He'd never had a problem with weight gain before, with all the swimming he did, but it was better to be safe than sorry. "What would you like to do now?" he asks, a little curious.
