Theluji looked up at Dege and saw his paw coming at her. Before she could duck, his mud print was sitting on her cheek. "Hey!" She pounced Dege laughing as she did so, covering the few patches of his exposed fur with mud.
Theluji jumped up and away from him, scooping some mud into her paw and flung it at him. "Catch me if you can!"

Dege laughed, not minding the pouncing. Or getting even more muddy. It was fun! He shook himself when Theluji got off...only to find himself pelted with mud. Ah! So it was gonna be that way, huh? He grinned and bounded after her as best he could. "Imma get you!"

Theluji ran, slipping and sliding in the mud to try and avoid Dege's pounces. He was very muddy now and she wasn't that far behind. Not that she minded. Muddy was fun and Mud Tag was even better. Even with all the fur on the top of her head sticking up at odd angles. Theluji wondered if she looked like a swamp monster and if she could scare her brother and sisters like this.
Theluji stuck out her tongue and laughed. His hair kind of reminded her of the big fluffy manes of the big males that scared her, only Dege's didn't. Dege's muddy mane imitation only made her sides hurt from laughter. "You are the Mud King!" She said around her giggles.

Dege enjoyed chasing through the mud, and definitely didn't care he was getting muddier by the second. MUDDY WAS HIS NATURAL STATE OF BEING! When she started laughing at him, he finally stopped and blinked. What? He tilted his head to one side...and nearly fell over thanks to the mud encrusted in his mane tuft and around his head in general. The sound that came out of him was...well, less than dignified.
He shook his head, trying to recover himself (and remove some excess mud), then sat in what he thought was a 'kingly' manner. "Darn straight I am! No one knows the mud better'n me! Well...'cept Mama Asali."

Theluji fell over laughing. She really liked the Mud King! Dege was more fun then her own brother. "Who's Momma Aseli?" Theluji asked, taking deep breathes as she lay in the mud. She'd laughed too hard and lost her breath in the excitement.
Theluji pawed a mound of mud together as she looked up at Dege. He seemed so much taller than her like that, but it didn't scare her. Not anymore. At least not with Dege standing over her with his royal mud mane.

Dege just...stared a little, bewildered. "You don't know who Mama Asali is?" He made a face. "She's only our goddess, the lady who watches over our home and helps keep us safe." He grinned. "It's 'cause of her that we can grow up safe, before goin' out t' find our grown-up names!"

Theluji tilted her head. "I thought that was Mama Bwawa? Goddess of Swamps and Swampie creatures." She admitted. Asali sounded familiar, but then a lot of names sounded familiar to Theluji. She couldn't keep anyone's name straight that she didn't know personally.
In the silence between their sentences, sounded too quiet to Theluji. She took a moment to focus and try to find mommy's voice. It wasn't there! She had to go. Now. Theluji jumped to her paws, slipping a bit in the mud, but managing to stay up and dashed out of the mud pit. "Bye, Dege! I hope we can play in the mud again soon, but I have to go find mommy now!" Flicking her tail as friendly as she could while still running away, Theluji left in search of mommy.
