Aila stretched her arms and legs to wind down from the exercise. Now that the rush was wearing off, she was beginning to feel increasingly winded. She turned curious eyes on the Metang as it disappeared and Liam introduced it. Anti-social as it was, it seemed most beneficial to have a psychic type at one's command for such operations. Passingly she hoped that her Misdreavus could one day become so useful.
Liam would soon find his lap full of Ivysaur as the grass pokemon bounded over and veritably tackled the boy, uttering all kinds of happy sounds.
"Fleur--!" Aila reprimanded, reaching to restrain her. "Please excuse her. This is Fleur, and she is too friendly." She tugged at the flower on her back, but Fleur would not budge.

"Aww, but I like friendly Pokemon!" Liam replied, giving Fleur a hardy scratch on the chin. He hadn't seen an Ivysaur before, even though Team Rocket had an abundance of these 'rare' Pokemon running around, probably the result of its extensive cloning program. "I bet you'd let me go if I promised to give you something to eat at lunch, huh Fleur? Maybe some nice berries? I bet you like Pecha since they're sweet like you." And that reminded him... he owed someone a lunch. But he would let Aila decide when she wanted to run off and eat, though he could use a nice refreshing meal right about now.

Fleur was eating up the attention as it was, and the mention of actual eating sealed the deal. Liam, welcome to best friend status. Two vines reached up to form a heart shape, giving physical gesture to the joy that swelled in the Ivysaur's bosom.
Aila was glad to see Fleur's nature accepted so eagerly, but still her hands hovered nearby, seeking an opportunity to seize her and draw her overwhelming glee away from the boy. "She does enjoy her sweets," she assured, "but you must be sure there is no ketchup nearby before serving them..." Her expression became almost apologetic as she recalled subjecting the grunt Claire to the wonderful view of Fleur's mealtime habits. "Speaking of eating," she glanced around for a clock; was it nearly lunch time, was it not? "When would you like to go to lunch?"

"Ohhh, but I bet you like ketchup and Pecha berries. Don't you Fleur? Don't you?" His babying voice had kicked in while he was talking to the Ivysaur and he continued to scratch on either side of her face, just like the wild Meowth had liked back home. By the time he realized what a dork he was being (he would later grill himself over that very fact) it was too late and he was staring up at Aila, embarrassed. "Uh, I mean..." he cleared his throat for effect, "Yes, of course. And... I guess I'll be paying, huh?" he didn't mention that the base's cafeteria was free for all members so he wouldn't actually have to pay anything, but he figured Aila would understand the joke. "And how about I meet you there in about ten minutes? I have to, you know, wash some of the sweat off..." This fact wasn't nearly as funny, but he smiled anyway. With a lovestruck Ivysaur in his lap and her thoroughly intriguing owner standing over him, it was easy to forget that they had beat him in a race on his own turf just moments before.

Fleur was practically melting in Liam's hands. Between his tone of voice, the scratching, and the references to food, she was beginning to seriously consider following him everywhere he went forever. But that simply wouldn't work out, she reminded herself, since Aila was her trainer and that was a fact that could never be changed.
A slight giggle escaped her at the words, "Shall we split the cost, then?" She beckoned Fleur to her side, and the Ivysaur grudgingly obliged. "Yes, I could use a moment's time to refresh myself as well. I shall see you in a while." A second curtsy signaled her temporary farewell, coupled with a polite smile, as she turned and proceeded in the direction of her room. She could probably manage a brief shower, and she certainly needed to change into a less disheveled uniform... Perhaps scented powder to sweeten her fragrance as well, since she would be unable to shower sufficiently...?

With Fleur off of him and Aila making her farewells, Liam took a second to stoop down and pick up his hat, tattered Apricorn patch shining brightly on its black surface. Few would know the meaning of the patch, but Liam refused to remove it from his uniform, even if it wasn't considered 'standard' issue. By the time he got up the nerve to respond, Aila was gone, probably halfway to her room. "Ye-yeah... see you in a while..."he said to the now empty room, devoid of traps and lasers.
It took him less than five minutes to run back to his room (though standard living quarters for Grunts were cohabited, he was still alone, a fact that he thanked Arceus for every day) and take a shower, and run to the cafeteria, almost working up yet another sweat. He had said ten minutes, but that didn't mean he couldn't be fashionably early.

Aila showered as thoroughly as her allotted time would allow and dressed herself in a fresh casual uniform. She rubbed at damp hair with a towel as she searched for the pins and bands to tie it properly, surrendering the effort when she noticed the time. A brief survey of her person in a mirror and she started in the direction of the cafeteria at a brisk pace. Small hands investigated the pockets borne on her clothes for some way to contain her hair to no avail. It would simply have to remain down, it seemed.
Fleur followed closely at her human's side, entranced by the faint lilac aroma the girl was exuding. It was sweet, like the Pecha berries with which she had been tempted. Pecha berries and ketchup. The Ivysaur practically swooned at the memory.
It was approximately one and three-quarters of a minute past the designated meeting time when Aila arrived, to her shame. She located the grunt and bowed her head, hands folded in front of her as she offered her apology, "It seems I have kept you waiting. I have no words to excuse this inelegance..." Fleur was not nearly as remorseful, though, and threw herself at Liam once more. Scratches! Lovings! Food!

"Nonono, of course you didn't! I-I-I just showed up, uh... early! Yeah, that's me! Alwa- Umph," his crazy ramblings were cut short by a mass of flower throwing itself into his lap. "Oh! Hello Fleur. I promised you Pecha berries, huh?" The scratching from earlier continued with full force as he reached into a satchel at his side to pull out one of the Pecha berries he had secured while in his room. "No ketchup... yet, sorry!" He turned to Aila after satisfying the little Ivysaur's attention and hunger needs. "I guess... we should get some lunch?"

"Fleur!" Aila reprimanded as the Ivysaur took hold of the berry in her mouth. She turned to her human with a questioning expression. "Please, if etiquette is beyond you, do at least practice patience." Fleur frowned slightly but heeded the words; perhaps there was some merit in waiting if it meant she might gain access to ketchup...
Aila sighed and brushed her loose hair behind her ear, "I must apologize on her behalf. Please excuse her... and myself as well." A faint tinge of pink colored her cheeks. "I am not very familiar with the workings of the cafeteria. If I may rely on your guidance..." She had continued to cook for herself since arriving at the base after bringing with her all of her leftover ingredients from her apartment, replenishing them during her visits to Camphoreon as was necessary. She had been intending to acquaint herself with the cafeteria for some time, though, and this seemed to present an excellent opportunity to do so.

"Oh, oh yeah. Sure, no problem." Liam felt this to be a suitable response to both her apology and her request and set down Fleur beside the chair he had been sitting in. He did this with as much care as possible while giving the demanding "Well... first things first, I guess... getting in line?" he added as he swooped an arm in an arch in the general direction of the line. "There are plenty of choices, I guess, and the food's not too bad... I guess. Well, you get used to it." As he talked, he led her towards the line and stood behind another, taller, Rocket who was gabbing it up with the person in front of him.

Aila hummed in acknowledgment as she followed, Fleur trotting along at the pair's heels. She had passed through the cafeteria before and seen the ritual as it took place, but she was wary of performing it herself, worrying that there were nuances she would be unable to imitate without exact knowledge. It seemed simple enough, though, and she was somewhat embarrassed that she had been so concerned. She leaned forward slightly to try and see what sorts of meals were offered but could discern nothing beyond the Rockets in front of them.
"Is there anything in particular you would recommend?" she asked, hoping that said recommendation would be available.

"Miltanburgers and berry shakes! It's almost all I eat here... I, uh... you know... sad to say..." The line continued to move as they spoke, and soon enough they were close enough to begin selecting their food. The selection wasn't limited, but it wasn't a five star restaurant either. A number of burgers, hotdogs, salads, drinks, and desserts were piled up, with some of the more unusual choices (sushi, vegan pizza, etc) on the side. At the very least, Team Rocket didn't starve its members, one of the reasons Liam hadn't attempted to cut and run not long after joining. (The others being lodging and a safe haven from the outside world.) "See? They have, uh... whatever you want, I guess. B-but that depends on what you eat?"

"I do not have much preference," - truly, instant ramen had become a norm after the sale of gems declined, especially the sort that came in a cup, leaving one only to add water and heat - "so I suppose I shall have the same as you." She had never had any sort of burger before, but she chose to trust the grunt's enthusiastic opinion. She pushed her hair behind her shoulders and reached forward for the recommended dishes. They certainly looked harmless enough, perhaps even tasty. It seemed like an awful lot of food, though, and she hoped she would not end up wasting any.

Liam grabbed his favorites, just like he had told Aila: a burger and shakes, as well as a handful of fries for good measure. Had to keep his calorie intake high enough to deal with everything he had burned while training all day, after all... "Looks delicious, huh?" he asked, having to force himself not to nudge her in the ribs. Still, he smiled at his little pun, something he had done more times today than in the last couple weeks combined. When they got to the front of the line, he realized that she may not have understood that his offer to 'pay' for lunch was also a joke if she had never been in the cafeteria before. After all, Rockets got lunch for free... He continued on, hoping she wouldn't ask about it. if so, he'd have to explain himself, a thought that didn't seem exactly pleasing. He dropped his tray on the table where he had sat originally and waiting for Aila to sit before doing so himself. Always a gentleman, he.

Aila was slightly confused by the fact that they went from the line directly to their table without stopping to pay anyone, but she ceded to Liam's greater knowledge of the cafeteria's workings. Perhaps he had paid in advance, or maybe there was some kind of bill that would arrive at the end of a set period of time. She would have to ask at some point, she decided.
She took a seat with a nod of acknowledgment, refreshed by the boy's practice of etiquette. In response, she awaited him to seat himself before turning any attention to her meal. Fleur bounced about under the table, hoping there was ketchup in her immediate future.
