I didnt choose my career. It chose me. Most want tobe Lawyers, Police, and Fireman. Things like that. Me? I wanted to be a doctor. Save people, Ya know? I figured it would feel good to do that. I figured people would look up to me. I figured It would warm my, as well as the familys, heart when I came out of a sucsessful surgery. Kind of Ironic how it turned out, Huh? Its funny too. I look like a doctor. People mistake me as one alot. Im glad, that makes people look away from me. My name is James, first Name Christopher. Ive killed 13 people in my life. Thats the career life has chosen for me.

Faylana peered out from behind her sturdy oak leaf, scared to Venture out of it for the first time. Faylana was an Oak Heit, and had the tendency to be timid, though strong. Her brown hair, straight as the oak tree she was born in, that was always tied back in a braid was wet from the morning dew that had fallen a few moments before. Her Autumn frock was wrinkled all around, and she had forgotten her bark belt to tie it secure. She was not ready to Venture at all. She was about to turn around to go back inside when her mother appeared in front of her, waving a broom and screeching at the top of her lungs.
“Oh no you don’t, little Sproutling. You are going to march yourself out in to the sunlight even if I have to drag you out.” Her mother said firmly as she held her broom in a threatening manner. Faylana sighed and started back outside. She tentatively stepped out, and shielded her eyes against the sunshine, her nervousness transforming into joy.
Though, before she could step so her whole body was bathed in warmth, her two twin brothers, Edgarn and Gunthi, bowled past her, and jumped into a pile of pollen that had been left out by a lazy honeybee. Edgarn and Tunthi had Ventured 3 Autumns ago, and they hadn’t let her forget that. She rolled her eyes at her brothers and wiped the pollen they had disturbed off her nut shell boots. She was about to go back inside when her mother marched out and thrust a basket in her hands.

(This is my most recent story. I got this idea when I was, like, 3, and then I remembered it a few weeks ago. VOILA! xd )

The Final Destiny

PostPosted: Wed Dec 22, 2010 5:19 pm

Is a poem o.k.?

Midway upon the journey of our life
I found myself within a forest dark,
For the straightforward pathway had been lost.

Ah me! how hard a thing it is to say
What was this forest savage, rough, and stern,
Which in the very thought renews the fear.

So bitter is it, death is little more;
But of the good to treat, which there I found,
Speak will I of the other things I saw there.

I cannot well repeat how there I entered,
So full was I of slumber at the moment
In which I had abandoned the true way.

But after I had reached a mountain's foot,
At that point where the valley terminated,
Which had with consternation pierced my heart,

Upward I looked, and I beheld its shoulders,
Vested already with that planet's rays
Which leadeth others right by every road.

Then was the fear a little quieted
That in my heart's lake had endured throughout
The night, which I had passed so piteously.

And even as he, who, with distressful breath,
Forth issued from the sea upon the shore,
Turns to the water perilous and gazes;

So did my soul, that still was fleeing onward,
Turn itself back to re-behold the pass
Which never yet a living person left.

After my weary body I had rested,
The way resumed I on the desert slope,
So that the firm foot ever was the lower.

And lo! almost where the ascent began,
A panther light and swift exceedingly,
Which with a spotted skin was covered o'er!

And never moved she from before my face,
Nay, rather did impede so much my way,
That many times I to return had turned.

The time was the beginning of the morning,
And up the sun was mounting with those stars
That with him were, what time the Love Divine

At first in motion set those beauteous things;
So were to me occasion of good hope,
The variegated skin of that wild beast,

The hour of time, and the delicious season;
But not so much, that did not give me fear
A lion's aspect which appeared to me.

He seemed as if against me he were coming
With head uplifted, and with ravenous hunger,
So that it seemed the air was afraid of him;

And a she-wolf, that with all hungerings
Seemed to be laden in her meagreness,
And many folk has caused to live forlorn!

She brought upon me so much heaviness,
With the affright that from her aspect came,
That I the hope relinquished of the height.

And as he is who willingly acquires,
And the time comes that causes him to lose,
Who weeps in all his thoughts and is despondent,

E'en such made me that beast withouten peace,
Which, coming on against me by degrees
Thrust me back thither where the sun is silent.

While I was rushing downward to the lowland,
Before mine eyes did one present himself,
Who seemed from long-continued silence hoarse.

When I beheld him in the desert vast,
'Have pity on me, ' unto him I cried,
'Whiche'er thou art, or shade or real man! '

He answered me: 'Not man; man once I was,
And both my parents were of Lombardy,
And Mantuans by country both of them.

'Sub Julio' was I born, though it was late,
And lived at Rome under the good Augustus,
During the time of false and lying gods.

A poet was I, and I sang that just
Son of Anchises, who came forth from Troy,
After that Ilion the superb was burned.

But thou, why goest thou back to such annoyance?
Why climb'st thou not the Mount Delectable,
Which is the source and cause of every joy? '

'Now, art thou that Virgilius and that fountain
Which spreads abroad so wide a river of speech? '
I made response to him with bashful forehead.

'O, of the other poets honour and light,
Avail me the long study and great love
That have impelled me to explore thy volume!

Thou art my master, and my author thou,
Thou art alone the one from whom I took
The beautiful style that has done honour to me.

Behold the beast, for which I have turned back;
Do thou protect me from her, famous Sage,
For she doth make my veins and pulses tremble.'

'Thee it behoves to take another road, '
Responded he, when he beheld me weeping,
'If from this savage place thou wouldst escape;

Because this beast, at which thou criest out,
Suffers not any one to pass her way,
But so doth harass him, that she destroys him;

And has a nature so malign and ruthless,
That never doth she glut her greedy will,
And after food is hungrier than before.

Many the animals with whom she weds,
And more they shall be still, until the Greyhound
Comes, who shall make her perish in her pain.

He shall not feed on either earth or pelf,
But upon wisdom, and on love and virtue;
'Twixt Feltro and Feltro shall his nation be;

Of that low Italy shall he be the saviour,
On whose account the maid Camilla died,
Euryalus, Turnus, Nisus, of their wounds;

Through every city shall he hunt her down,
Until he shall have driven her back to Hell,
There from whence envy first did let her loose.

Therefore I think and judge it for thy best
Thou follow me, and I will be thy guide,
And lead thee hence through the eternal place,

Where thou shalt hear the desperate lamentations,
Shalt see the ancient spirits disconsolate,
Who cry out each one for the second death;

And thou shalt see those who contented are
Within the fire, because they hope to come,
Whene'er it may be, to the blessed people;

To whom, then, if thou wishest to ascend,
A soul shall be for that than I more worthy;
With her at my departure I will leave thee;

Because that Emperor, who reigns above,
In that I was rebellious to his law,
Wills that through me none come into his city.

He governs everywhere, and there he reigns;
There is his city and his lofty throne;
O happy he whom thereto he elects! '

And I to him: 'Poet, I thee entreat,
By that same God whom thou didst never know,
So that I may escape this woe and worse,

Thou wouldst conduct me there where thou hast said,
That I may see the portal of Saint Peter,
And those thou makest so disconsolate.'

Then he moved on, and I behind him followed.

Girls

Now that I really think about it, everything that happened was because of her. Everything was because of that girl that is now lying six feet under the pretty, green grass. She was the reason I wasn’t in one of those wooden cases, six feet under, last winter. But now that I sit here, and really look at things, I don’t know whether to say ‘thank you’ or ‘f*** you’.

It's only the first paragraph to something I am working on right now.
I wouldn't call myself good, but I do write.
Lol.
Anyways, I've posted one or two things of my writing on Gaia.
: )
I don't know if people like them or not.
Ha.

The Charm

Tears rolled down my cheeks. I'm in a house with my parents and 35 miles away from my friends. There was a enormous patch of trees and wild animals for that distance and maybe even bigger. I miss my friends so much and I was lonely. No brothers or sisters....

There was a knock on my door. "Sweety, are you okay?" My mom asked worriedly. "I'm fine, mom," I said sadly to my mom. I heard my mom sighed and walked downstairs.

I hate living in a house in the middle of nowhere. My tears streamed down my cheeks. I punched my pillow hard. Life sucks! MY dad wanted us to be in nature for summer vacation. I simplied refused, but my dad ignored my answer.

I got up from my bed and walked out of my room and headed dwnstairs. My dad smiled when I came down the stairs. I gave him a fake smile. "I have something to give you, Kiri," my dad explained. He handed me a charm braclet. There were three charms: wings, a wolf paw print, and a blood drop. "What do these represent?" I asked suspicously.

"You will soon find out," my dad said happily,"put it on." I put the charm on my wrist. I swore that they glowed for a few seconds when I touched it. "Uhmm, thanks dad." My dad nodded his head and read his newpaper.

I went outside for some fresh air, Somehow I love the smell of pine for some reason. I walked deep inside the forest. The animals here don't attack me, thankfully. I'm loved by the animals, I guess. I went to the stream and took a sip of water.

"Hello, human," a starnge voice says. I turned and looked around. I only see animals around me. I shrugged my shoulders and thought it was my imagination. "Excuse me, human," the voice said again. Okay now I wasn't imagining. I looked back and saw a wolf behind me and it looked into my eyes.

No one ever bothered to learn her name
No one ever cared to ask about her interests
No one ever wanted to hear any of her stories
Though they all seemed to noticed when she was in fear
Fear of...well..if they asked, they would know
Instead of walking by
Playing ignorant to the fact
As she crawled off into her corner
And coward from her demons
Hoping that they wouldn't find her again
And leave their familiars marks for all to see
As if they cared to ask how they got there
Instead, they just pass by
Playing ignorant to the fact
As the demons slowly tear away at the poor girl
While her screams and cries go unnoticed
Pleading to the people
As she tries to run
Though she has grown too weak to defend herself
As her body hits the floor
Again, with sheer will
She screams and cries and begs and whines
Hoping for some one to come to her aid
Yet no one bothers to look her way
As she grows ever silent
And becomes still and cold
Now laying broken and empty
As if they cared to check
Instead, they just pass by
Playing ignorant to the fact
No one ever bothered to learn her name

Okay, so this isn't just one paragraph, this is the first part in Book One of The Hearts of the Elements that I've called Of Earth and Of Life. Tell me what you think though, of the quick preview.

The young man stumbled out of the dark cave, his hair matted to his forehead with sweat. His eyes were so wide with fear that there was more white than blue. The blood trickling from a gash on his forehead created a stark contrast to the color of his skin. Pausing against the ice slick wall to catch his breath, his head jerked back the way he had come to stare into the darkness as the creature's dying screams reached his ears. With a renewed since of terror, he realized that if he could hear the wail, so could more of the horrible monsters. A ghastly wind blew from deep inside the cave as if summoned by the creatures screams, carrying the stink of blood and long rotten meat. The memories of the short time he spent in that hell were enough to urge his battered body into movement, compelling him to get as far from here as possible.

White puffs of his breath preceded him as he stumbled from the nightmare he was putting behind him. He held clutched in a white-knuckled grip the splintered shaft of bone he had used to kill his tormentor. Almost laboriously he came came to a stop in the lightly falling snow, allowing the tingling cold to bring him back to his senses. Shaking with the abating terror and slow removal of adrenaline from his blood stream, he looked down at the bone held in his hand. Now that he was further into safety, he had a moment to gather his thoughts.

Blood still dripped to the ground from the gruesome makeshift weapon, and while he was loathe to give up his only means of defense, it was creating a glaringly bright trail in the fresh snow to lead the Yeh'ti directly to him.

Still shaking, though now from the cold more than anything else, he hefted the jagged bone and a made a fresh cut on his bicep, dragging the sharp edge haphazardly through the flesh. Lathering his own blood over most of the bone, he threw the weapon as far to the left as he possibly could. Hopefully, the large amount of his own scent would mislead the Yeh'ti for long enough that they would lose him and be unable to trail after.

Ripping a strip of cloth from his already tattered shirt, he bound it tightly around the fresh wound in his arm and took off again at a markedly improved pace. The creatures were by now frenzied, and would catch up soon. In his heart, he held out hope that the meat of their fallen comrade would sate their hunger long enough to give him an even bigger lead.

A very slim hope.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Unbothered by the cold or even the Yeh'ti, a hunched old lady knelt above the opening to the clan warrens that the boy had previously been prisoner to.

She sat quietly for the entire duration of the boy's stay, observing events as they would happen and still not allowing herself to interfere in the slightest. The green gem that was incased by gripping white gold vines had been glowing brilliantly in her palm when the lad was beneath her. Verdant green grass sprouted beneath her feet, dandelions and other assorted bouquets of flowers rapidly blooming into full summer attire.

Still she watched in silence as the boy beat a slow retreat, and as the boy gathered distance the green glow began to dissipate, softening until the gem was an unremarkable emerald once more. The brief life that had sprouted around the old crone withered and died as swiftly as it had been born.

Still, even as the Yeh'ti ran screaming in pursuit, she waited in the bone chilling cold. Her eyes, the color of the emerald in her palm, continued to stare long after in the direction the boy had gone. More and more time passed. One would almost be sure that she had frozen to death until a small, black and white lemur came trotting up to her side. Only then did her gaze shift to meet the solid whites of the small animal at her feet.

The lemur returned her gaze solidly and nodded once. With that nod came massive implications for this world and that of the next. Omens swirled around the old lady like a cataclysm.

Reaching down with her wrinkled old hands, the crone attached the gem she had been holding to a tiny, unadorned collar around the lemur's neck and scratched fondly one last time behind his ear.

"Go," was the only thing she said. It was enough to send the small creature leaping down the cliff face and racing to his new destination in a haste borne of utmost importance. She herself finally stood, and as she did, her cloak and white hair billowed in the icy wind behind her. She knew she must be getting along to prepare for the times and trials to come.

Softly, she spoke to herself.

"I only hope we know what we're doing."
