(( first roll is matthias' 1d20+2 to mook 3 second is 3's attack to matthias.))
Matthias: Hp:21/24 Ap:9/9
mook 1: Hp:0
mook 2: Hp:0
mook 3: Hp:3
another successful hit! the swing came upward from the ground, almost like a golf swing. it caught the unsuspecting baisterd on the chin, and sent him back flipping for a couple feet. he looked at the remaining man, waiting for him to do something, as the guy mad a feeble attempt to punch this bat wielding monolith of pain that he hadn't felt yet. he didn't have much time to think of his error as the baseball bat came careening towards his jaw.

mook 2: Hp:0 mook 3: Hp:0
The strike hit swift and true as the bat sank briefly into the temple of the third ruffian. the punk spun around 4 times before stopping in a daze. Matthias took the bloodied bat, wiped it off on the mook's shirt, and nudged him with the tip, knocking him over, unconscious. Matti then looked at the now stunned woman at the back of the alleyway. he removed his hat and began to speak. " I thoroughly apologize for the actions of these cruel men.they obviously do not care about human kind as a whole, and chose to steal rather than make an acceptable living. you have a cell-phone, don't you?" the woman, speechless mind you, nodded. "excellent! the do me a favor and call the police for a two-pronged reason: 1, to send these criminals to jail where they belong. 2, to get the poor fellows medical attention, for I seem to have done quite the number on them." the woman began to comply with the offer, reaching into her bag for it, and when she looked up, Matthias was gone without a sound. "Th.Thank you." Matthias was around the corner, and heard her token of appreciation. he walked off, putting his hat back on, towards the forests outside of Ely. when he was a sufficient distance away, he muttered under his breath "you're welcome."

((Roll 1 - 1 : Fayt's bluff Roll 2 - 1 : ML's sense motive.
Success means the tiger is unassuming of the next attack, and Fayt can sneak attack.))
Fayt HP: 18/18 DB 17
Cougar HP: 17/30 DB 12
Fayt watched the arrow drive itself into the target, but it stayed in the poor lion. Damn! She readied herself for the onslaught as a hardly wounded tiger stood confusedly before inevitably spotting the Ranger... I need to work on my aim... it occurred to her that for all her years spent living in the forests, she'd never actually gone out of her way to perfect her art. She never really had time. Hunting and pruning the populations seemed to keep her busy, and she didn't want to risk breaking her arrows, anyhow. She only had ten... Well, nine, if that mountain lion decided to fall on the one protruding from her side. "Well, come on, then!" She turned and began running, setting her bow behind a fallen tree and beginning to play to the tiger's instincts. You see, mountain lions pounced on prey that were running, unless threatened immensely. Fayt needed to play this one's instinct against it if she was going to win.
As she pulled her spear, she passed a strange man in her woods. She must have been closer to the edge than she'd anticipated. The lions are being pushed back... This isn't good. "Get back you fool, and let me take care of this!" She would throw her arm to sweep him out of the way, and would continue regardless of whether she hit, missed, pushed, or didn't push him. It was more of a wild sweep than a swing. The lion would leap from the brush behind her with a mighty roar. She would leap forward, turning to hit her back as she watched the mass approach her in a hulking, fur-covered avalanche.

((Roll 1: Cougar attack, 1d20 + 6 Roll 2: Fayt's counterattack, 1d20 + 8
Fayt's success means no damage to Fayt))
Fayt HP: 18/18 DB 17
Cougar HP: 17 - 26 /30 DB 12
Fayt aimed her spear at the falling lion's heart, with all the fierce, defiant resolve that dragonslayers were shown as having. "ONE OR BOTH OF US!" She planted the end of the spear in the dirt beside her and held it rock steady as the creature came at her, its eyes wide and its claws outstretched. The arrow that protruded from its flank didn't seem to bother it at all, and after the initial surprise, it bore the same resolve Fayt showed: Even if it had to land on that spear, it would take her down with it. Or so it hoped. Nothing was sure in survival, only death.
As the cat came down, Fayt's spear dug into the earth and stayed there, the cat's heart being skewered on the weapon, Fayt's breathing coming hard as she stared into the eyes of the cat, just inches from hers, its claws still fully extended on the wrong side. It had completely swung at her, and the claws had come within a centimeter of her face. As the light left its eyes, Fayt pressed her forehead to the cat's, still breathing hard. "I'm sorry that we did this to you... She rolled the cat off of her, planted a foot on its ribcage and ripped her spear from the corpse with a twist, finally looking back at the intruder without a word, a feral light in her eyes, blood spattered on her face and chest, her hair in tangles and her chest heaving as she breathed. She planted the spear in the earth and looked at him, watching him carefully. Almost nervously. She could see the blood on his person. Spray, from bludgeoning. She had a bet that it wasn't animal blood.

Matthias used his bat to tip up his hat in surprise, his emerald green eyes wide at what he had just witnessed. the beauty of the woman in front of him astounded him as well, but he tipped down his hat again, and regained composure. he removed his beloved Mariners cap once he was satisfied about his temperament, and hung it on a nearby low branch, but keeping his bat shouldered. he looked grimly at the corpse of the mountain lion, having been stuck like a pig. he sighed in remorse for the dead. "It is a shame that these magnificent creatures are having the over-population that they are. then none of them would need to be killed." he sauntered over to the unfortunate creature, and placed his free hand on her head. "I hope you and your would be young are treated well in the after-life." he removed his hand, and clenched his hand briefly, hearing the red leather of his glove squelch the way only leather and latex can. he looked at the woman, and acknowledged the odd look that he was receiving. he glanced down at his clothes, and instantly knew why. "Oh, that's right. even scum bleeds." he looked up at the lady and smiled. "Sorry, I must look like an absolute terror all bloodied up like this. had to defend a woman from three muggers, and they wouldn't listen to my words of wisdom." he de-shouldered his bat, and held the tip in his left hand, tapping it there a few times. "So I had to convince them. I am very persuasive, you know." he re-shouldered his bat, grinning all the while, and proceeded to bow. " I am the gentlemanly sports fanatic, Matthias "The Slugger" McLean. Most call me either Matthias or Matti though. May I ask who you are, and what you are doing in this neck of the woods, pardoning the pun?"

Fayt didn't honestly remember speaking to another human. She of course remembered that she had, but she couldn't recall completely any specific example. She just watched him cautiously, deciding whether or not to trust him. Apparently, she couldn't come up with a proper decision as to how to react. She finally jerked her spear from the dirt, walking past him as she covered the fifty yards to her bow, ripping the arrow from the cat as she walked by. "These are my woods. What are you doing here?" She knelt by her bow, beginning to clean the blood from her weapons in a highly practiced maneuver, cleaning the whole spear and the arrow in less than a minute.

He watched the lady cleaning her weapons. she had obviously done this for extended periods. He made note of this fact as he formulated his response. "I come out here because mankind is a cesspit of hatred and lies, and that is on the best of days." he stares off into the city. "some days, I just need to get away from it all." he looks back to the lady. "well, I've told you about me, now is the time when it is impolite if you don't tell me about you."

Fayt glared at the boy with neutral ferociousness. The intense strength behind her gaze made it seem as if she were at least constantly annoyed, at most completely enraged. She never relaxed, constantly alert. Even now she scanned her surroundings with all her senses, keeping an open path between her and the inside of her forest, and closing the path to the outskirts. "What do you want to know? I was born. I grew up. I freed myself. And have constantly been bothered by people who can't leave me alone."

he was amazed at the rudeness of this woman, but chose to ignore it, and take it in stride. he cracked a smile. "your name, at least. that's about as much as I've told you." her exterior look made him inwardly nervous. he was glad that he had a hand on his bat, however he did not let anything but that friendly smile pass his emotional wall.

1d20 + DEX MOD (+5) = ease of traveling through the woods (She's like a jungle ninja XP) This is purely a comparative roll. Nothing to lose or gain by it.
The woman decided finally that he was just as tense as she was, but that he wasn't aggressive. His muscles were infinitesimally tensed to spring back, not forward. She jerked her spear out of the ground and began walking toward the interior of her forest. "Fayt. If you're not going to leave me alone, at least walk. The longer you stay soaked in blood, the higher the chance gets that something's going to notice. We've got to shake our tail." It wasn't even a question of whether or not there was something following the blood. Animal territories were constantly changing. True, other lions might not encroach on this land just yet... But there were a great many things worse than mountain lions in these woods. She avoided any and all trails. In the forest, smelling like a human was even worse than smelling like a dying animal. Blood could be washed off. The stink of civilization stayed with you. And the tourists and disgusting people from the towns seemed to think that they had every right to trespass in Fayt's home. after a few years, it was almost like she could smell the human stink in the air. Soon, after a winding path through the trees, slipping lithely over stones and through branches, avoiding poison plants and animal dens on instinct, they came upon a flowing, frigid stream. She pulled a washcloth from a satchel on her quiver, dipped it into the water and began to clean the blood from her clothing, all silent. She didn't flinch from the frigid water as she plunged her hand in it, obviously used to such temperatures.
