"Yes, indeed it was." A small smirk formed on her face at the memory. She never said it was an honest win. When the Ivysaur appeared and offered a vine, Claire made an amused noise and shook it, nodding politely. "Pleasure to meet you, Fleur." It was odd to introduce herself to a Pokemon, but she couldn't help but humor the both of them.
She waited for Aila to give her order once the waiter got to their table, and she gave a little dismissive wave. "Just a glass of water for me, please." Odette didn't need anything.
After a short pause, she turned to Aila and couldn't help but chuckle slightly. "Saltines and ketchup?"

Fleur was overjoyed. She turned next to Odette with a similarly gleeful exclamation. Meeting people was fun! Making friends was fun! She hoped to do so more often!
The waiter recorded the orders and departed to assemble them, leaving Aila to explain herself, "Fleur's habit is to eat nothing without ketchup. I have tried to break her of this inelegance, but she refuses to comply." The named pokemon huffed indignantly. Ketchup was delicious, and no amount of scolding could change that fact.

Odette hardly spared her a glance - if the Ivysaur expected a vine shake from the Pidgeot, she certainly had another thing coming. Mostly just the cold shoulder, as the vain bird resumed her preening and trying to attract attention to herself from passers-by.
"So she'll only eat something if it has ketchup on it...?" That was.. extremely odd, to say the least. Huh. Well, there could be stranger things, she supposed, than ketchup. Like hot sauce or something ridiculous like that. As if anyone would put hot sauce on everything they ate... "Ketchup is good, but only on some things. I don't eat much of it, myself."
Claire paused to look at the subject of their conversation, studying the grass-type curiously before turning her attention back to Aila. "Will she eat sweets with ketchup, too?"

Fleur tilted her head in curiosity. Did the Pidgeot not notice her? She waved the vine back and forth like the tail of an interested cat, then bent into the shape of a heart to visually convey her friendliness.
"She will if I allow it," Aila said with a grimace. "Fortunately she does not consider it a necessary addition to sweets, and she will eat them as they are if there is no ketchup in the immediate area." Her tone quieted to conceal the next information from her pokemon, "Often it is enough to simply hide it."
The waiter returned, announcing the orders as he set them down before the women. Aila took the small platter of crackers, a pool of ketchup on the side, and set it down on the floor for the Ivysaur to eat at her leisure. The seed pokemon was preoccupied with Odette for the moment, however, and so the former thief turned back to doctor her tea.

The bird continued to blatantly ignore the grass-type, as per usual, preferring the attention of humans instead of other pokemon.
"Odette, don't be rude. Say hello," Claire told her before rolling her eyes. That Pidgeot certainly tried her patience sometimes...
With a huff, the golden bird turned to the Bulbasaur, unable to really 'shake' her vine that was... now shaped like a heart. Ugh.. She made a snorting sound before extending a wing a bit and waved it up and down slightly at her. Humans could wave at each other, so she figured the same would apply here.
"Very good," she said and reached up to pet her bird's side. Turning back to Aila, she made an amused noise again. "Yes, that seems to be quite a simple solution. But at least it's not with everything, but still... That is sort of.... eww.." Seriously... Ketchup on sweets...?

Fleur straightened out the vine, waving it back and forth enthusiastically. Finally satisfied, she turned to the crackers Aila had left for her, pushing them into the ketchup before partaking.
"I know," the girl replied, unamused. There were worse habits to indulge, but that did not make Fleur's any less strange. She raised the teacup to her lips, blowing away the steam before sipping the beverage. A change of topic was in order, she decided. "Might I ask what brought you to Camphoreon today? Merely gaining a bearing of your surroundings, or...?" It was a worthy enough effort, but it seemed somehow odd to venture into such a major city with no other purpose in mind.

Odette rolled her eyes at the Ivysaur, then stuck her tongue out and shuddered when she saw the creature eat crackers with ketchup. Ketchup! Disgusting!!
Claire had a similar reaction, shuddering slightly before deciding not to look at the grass-type again until they'd left. Ugh...
She turned to her glass of water and raised it with, peculiarly, her pinkie out, before sipping at it slowly. "Ah, yes, just to get an internal map of the entire city. The more important buildings, maybe some of the residential sectors, that sort of thing," she replied, taking another slow sip of her water. "I've never been in Kodo before. I just transferred in several days ago, so obviously my first task was figuring out the layout of our workplace. I figured Camphoreon would be a good place to memorize after, since it's such a large and busy city." Hopefully she'd have missions here at some point. She couldn't wait.

Aila knew Fleur's habits well enough to keep her eyes away from the grass type when she was eating. Truly a graceless creature, that Bulbasaur. Claire's table manners, Aila noticed, were refreshing in comparison; it was rare that she saw someone treat a simple glass of water so delicately.
"It is good to be acquainted with places one will frequent," she said with a nod. "Where did you live previously, if I may ask?" The idea of a completely different place piqued her interest - she had every desire to travel some day, and the more she knew in advance the better.

Claire absently swirled the glass, watching the ice cubes twirl around in the small space at the surface of the water. She thought nothing of holding her pinkie out while drinking. In fact, it had grown to be second nature whenever she held a drink in her hands.
"You may ask," she stated with a nod, taking another slow sip of her water as she tossed ideas around in her head, trying to decide the best way to arrange her words. "I've lived everywhere." Actually, now that she'd said it, it sounded quite misleading. "Well, I've lived in several other regions, in many different towns. Most recently, Johto. That's where I transferred from." There, much better. "You said you've lived here before? For how long, if I may ask?"

"Ahh, Johto." She had read about it before. She hoped to visit Goldenrod one day; it struck her as a town with a number of 'opportunities.' "It must have been nice to be able to see so many different areas. Myself, Camphoreon is the only place I knew for so much of my life. I lived in this city from the day I was born until the day I was hired."
Another sip at the tea. It's scent and flavor were sweet and warm, and Aila stored a mental note to purchase the items necessary to prepare such a beverage at her leisure in the base. "I find myself curious: How do you like this city?" In a way, she still considered it her home, and she felt it interesting to know Claire's impressions.

She nodded absently, taking another sip from her glass. "Yes, it was a very pretty region. Very interesting, and full of interesting people and pokemon. Goldenrod especially," she said, a sly twinkle in her violet eyes.
"I don't envy you for living in one place your entire life. But it does seem like a very interesting city so far. Some areas are quite pretty," not as pretty as some of the cities in other regions, but still nice nonetheless. She sipped from her glass slowly again, contemplating on what she'd seen of Camphoreon thus far. There were several buildings and districts of interest, where valuable information or items may be found. Pokemon too, perhaps.
"Would you mind showing me around the city? Since you've lived here and I'm assuming, know your way around it like the back of your hand." It was enjoyable exploring it herself, but it would also be nice to have the company of someone who knew their way around quite well. And perhaps she'd offer the girl a ride back to the base on Odette when they were finished. Neither of them were very big at all, so the bird would more than likely be fine.

"Certainly, if you would like." She was already rifling through a number of locations of import, trying to narrow them down to the ones nearer by to save time on walking. The bus was an option, she considered, but she had never used it before, and she had no intent to start now. "How much have of the city have you so far seen?"

Claire took another sip, noting that there was only half of her water left. But was it half-full, or half-empty? An interesting question, indeed. She'd be more inclined to call it half-full. "Humm, well.. Before we arrived, I got a good aerial view of the whole city before we landed on the outskirts, to the north-west, I believe." Yes, north-west sounded about right.
Had Aila suggested the bus, Claire would've scoffed at the idea and immediately dismissed it. Take the bus, indeed. She'd much rather walk.
"After that, we've walked through to the middle, and I think that's about when we ran into each other." Maybe a bit past the middle? Somewhere close to there, though, she was certain. "So that's about it for what I've seen so far."

"Hmm, this area is mostly commercial, I believe," she thought aloud, the cup hovering just before her lips. A ten minute walk would find them at the hotels and banks. Twenty minutes would bring them to the upper class residences. Fifteen minutes in the opposite direction would begin to display Camphoreon's darker underbelly. A thought dawned on the girl as she considered her options.
"Actually, our employers have a separate branch here. Would you like to see it?" She hoped they would not be intruding. Will had been affable enough when she last visited, but she did not wish to cause him any trouble.

She took another sip from her slowly diminishing glass of water, and perked up at the thought. "Another branch, here?" Hmm, very interesting. "I hadn't heard of a branch in Camphoreon. I would love to see it," she said earnestly. That would be an extremely important point to remember.
Assuming they would leave in a moment or two, the young woman finished her glass of water and placed it back on the table before patting Odette's side, signaling for her that it was about time for them to go. The bird chirped unhappily, quite enjoying her perch beside the window. The sun was so nice and warm!
