"Takes more effort to frown than to smile, you know."
He could sense discomfort, maybe a hint of contempt? Regardless, she was clearly not too amused with him. But he was not about to apologize, he couldn't let the slaves walk all over him, especially not now. He was normal. There was nothing wrong with him. He was like every other hound. Right?
Right.
"Listen, Akila~ I have a proposition to make you. See, I do need this help around my clinic and I am sure being stuck in this filthy hole in the wall isn't a fun experience for any creature. I will pay to take you away from here and, in return, you will help keep the clinic tidy and to serve as a guard if the need arises. Insolence and running away will not be tolerated, of course, but you will find that though I run a tight ship, I am not unkind. Hard work and obedience does not go unrewarded."

Akila's ears perked forwards and she listened to what he was saying. She didn't have the slightest clue what proposition meant, but by using context clues she was assuming he was making a deal. Which surprised her. He was acting as if she had a say in the matter. And, that was probably what sold her right there. The fact that he addressed her... well not as an equal but not so much as a slave.
There was still a frown on her muzzle, but it was more a worried frown. she had never been out of the market, she didn't know what to expect. She would take on an animal twice her size, but the unknown frightened her. A bit silly huh? Akila looked up at him, her eyebrows creased as she debated. "I guess...." she said, which was as close to a "OK take me home" he was going to get.

"Right, then, it's a deal."
He cracked a light smile at her simple words. Seemed as though this was going well so far, at least he thought so. One slave down, one more to find. He just hoped he wasn't biting off more than he could chew in deciding to pick her over some more docile, mild mannered creature. His mind was already made up, though, regardless of how he tried to reason with himself
"Sit tight, then, and I shall let our dear friend, Mr. Hyde, know that I shall be taking you back to Giza with me. You will like it there, I think. Fishing town, right on the water. Sun and sand." He sighed for a moment, recalling the pleasantries of the property he had purchased.
"I am going to bring home one more little feline companion to help out around the office, so I shall be looking while Mr. Hyde prepares you for travel. I shall be back soon, Akila." With that, he gave her a curt nod and began to walk towards the hyena. They were far enough that conversation did not carry well over the sounds of the market in general, but there was a surprised look on the slaver's face.

Akila sat there for a moment after the hound departed. She had to let the fact that she was being bought sink in. She blinked in disbelief and looked around the small cage that had been her home all her life. She couldn't exactly say she was sorry to be leaving it... But... she was a slave... like... a real slave now. Sure she hadn't been free before or anything, but now she belonged to someone, she was someone property. That fact bugged her, even though it would seem that she wasn't going to a bad place... She sighed and looked around the cage again.
"So, ye finally got yer sorry self bought huh." she heard Hyde say from in front of her cage and she scowled at him. "Yeah, well I hope yer master beats ye regularly like I do so ye don't miss it." he said and unlocked the cage to grab her neck chain and pull her forwards and out to a tub of water. Hyde was above giving the slaves a proper bath, but he would dunk them in water and rub them vigorously when they were bought anyways. "There now that yer all clean.." she most certainly was not!! And she hissed at him to show her point which earned her a good clot in the head. Now he drug her up to the front, soaping wet and now cold, where she would wait up front in a smaller holding cage till the hound came to take her to her new home.
