Aila was quickly losing her patience. Fleur was difficult to manage, but at least she followed commands when it came down to the wire. "Heed me, you reprehensible wretch!" she shouted in a fit of utter frustration.
Who should be heeding whom, Revenant wondered with mild distaste. She sank to the ground to avoid the Ice Beam, letting it instead sail along its path to her human. Served her right, the bossy thing.
Aila quickly lifted her arms to protect herself from the ice attack. The cold crept along her forearms, freezing them in that same protective pose. To add insult to injury, the force of the blow caused her to stagger backwards, and she toppled to the ground.
Never had she known such absolute mortification.

Mau felt a twinge of pity for the girl. This battle, it was basically over, if she couldn't figure this out. "Rather poor form of you to think that any pokemon should know the moves it's line can learn. Your pokemon is too young to know the things you're demanding of it." At least with the heat of the desert, the ice on Aila's arms wold melt quickly, and she should be able to free herself in a few moments.

Aila turned away, having no desire for this man to see her face with her in such a state. She swallowed her bitterness and spoke, her voice strained by her firmly set jaw, "How am I to know what she is able to do? She cannot speak." She tested the ice. Still too solid, she determined.
"Dreeeavus," Revenant corrected in her swooning voice. She could speak indeed. It was not her fault the silly human could not comprehend.

"When you joined team rocket, you should have been given your own rocket dex. Like the one's made by Professor Oak, they can tell you what your pokemon knows. However, there's a lot more that ours can do... with the right upgrades that is."
Aki had grown bored now that the excitement of the fight had calmed down, and began blowing bubbles in the air around Revenant.

"I prefer not to trust databases compiled by strangers if I can at all avoid it." She frowned at a sudden realization, murmuring an amendment, "Although I suppose in this instance I could not avoid it..."
Revenant watched as the bubbles drifted past her. They were an annoyance, she decided. She cast a glare at Aki that served as the only warning before she moved to Astonish him.
"Revenant! Cease! Honestly-!" Aila fumbled with cold and largely frozen hands to reach the Misdreavus' pokeball in hopes of recalling the little ghost before she further embarrassed her trainer.

Mau shrugged, simply trying to be helpful. "It never hurts to see what's available to you. Modify what you need so it fits you. If you can't figure it out yourself, we have a tech department that could help. Of course, I'm not too sure about the tech department... they seem like they have a little too much free time." He recalled a mass Email that had been sent out a while ago. Mau had forgotten about it till now.
Aki looked at the ghost, thinking that she may be a little too full of herself, like her human seemed. Though he liked the human. He wanted her to pet him. But this ghost... well, judgment was reserved for now. Maybe a surf... no, maybe freezing it in a surf would chill this pokemon out...
"Do you need help?" Mau asked, in regards to Aila's hands.

Aila locked her gaze on the ground. She did not wish to accept his advice, but deny it as she may, his words made sense. She had only recently met Revenant, and she knew little of the Misdreavus species apart from a general sense of what moves they were able to execute. And this Misdreavus in particular was apparently a disobedient troublemaker...
That same disobedient, trouble-making Misdreavus turned her head from Aki aloofly. Who was he to behold her form? If he continued to pester her so, she would retaliate. It was a much more significant threat in her imagination than it would prove in reality.
The girl flushed at Mau's offer and doubled her efforts to break free. "I-I can manage on my own," she dissented stubbornly. She wrenched at her wrists, desperate to prove her words. She could discern that it had weakened considerably and hoped she would be able to break free before she appeared anymore a fool.

"Alright." Mau said, not making a move to help her. "Might be faster if you used some of the reflecting heat from the sun baked ground behind you." He looked away, as if he hadn't said anything. He turned his head just in time to see Aki.
That was it. Aki wanted to show this ghost her place. She wasn't going to be any fun, so she might as well go to sleep. He started running a circle around her before using surf, to create a ring of water around her, and looked up, and ice beamed the water as it came crashing down into the center of the circle at the annoying ghost.
Not that Mau could do anything about it. He wouldn't be able to call Aki back unless Aila agreed the match was over.

She took the opportunity as he turned away to act on the suggestion, holding the ice in the heat that rose from the ground. She applied some force, and the frost shattered. Aila unclipped the pokeball from her person to recall Revenant to find the Misdreavus encircled in a freezing pillar of water.
"I could offer to remove you from your unsavory situation," she said bitterly, "but I wonder if you would listen?" As far as Aila was concerned, the battle was over. She had not the will to continue after the embarrassment that ghost had caused her.
Revenant could only accept what was about the happen, but that did not mean she would go down without a fight. She put all her strength into a radial burst of Psywave as the ice began to close around her.

"It would probably be best to call her back before she decides to cause serious problems for you. It sees some ghosts are prone to harassing the elites." He was thinking, specifically, of Newton and what he'd heard of his antics towards Nadja.
Aki was staring at the lovely ice pillar he had crafted with the falling water, and even if the ghost had managed to protect itself slightly, she was still trapped. The vaporeon pranced away and flopped beside Mau with a yawn.

Aila hummed thoughtfully. "Would it be best to call her back? I had considered it, but I am not certain she feels the same."
Revenant glared, thoroughly unamused by her human's musical, almost condescending tone. Aila lifted the pokeball and pulled the Misdreavus back in, not for her safety or comfort but because she could no longer stand the sight of the ghost. She toyed with the idea of continuing the match through Fleur, but she felt no real drive to do so. For the time, her desire for revenge against the Vaporeon had been subdued, and her wits returned to her.
"She is certainly a menace," the girl muttered, mostly to herself but at a volume that could be overheard easily. "I should hope that she will not continue this unsightly behavior for much longer."

"Just think what a testament it would be to you if you could get her to behave." With the match now officially over, Mau called Aki back. "I must admit that I'm surprised you're now apart of Team Rocket. But I suppose you have your reasons." He figured after the raid, for some reason, she wanted to join.
"Anyways, I'm sorry we interrupted your reading. Keep getting stronger alright?"

She made a sound between a scoff and a chuckle. "And what a testament to her stubbornness should I fail." Her expression steeled at mention of her "reasons." Once more Aila found herself grateful that the results of the investigation Nadja had mentioned in their meeting were not disseminated openly.
"Indeed." She untucked her book from its temporary residence under her arm. Who was this man, anyway, to behave so coolly, going as far as to offer advice and encouragement, when she considered him an obstacle to be overcome?

Mau smirked slightly. "Just remember, she could always be worse." He suddenly thought of Newton and Nuu. Shaking the thought from his mind he put on a smile. "Well, time to get back to work." He nodded to her before turning away. "Take care." And with that, he left.
