Her ears flicked slightly as she studied the strange hound, daring to risk looking higher than her paws, but not quite near to her vibrant, energetic green eyes. That was just a no-no, no matter who she was speaking with in the hound's world. It was at the moment that she pronounced Shemesgisa as her own that her heart caught in her throat and her eyes widened in fear, despite Chione's reassuring words.
She bowed hastily, as if to make up for any wrongdoings.
"Sorry Chi-er-miss-er-ma'am! Lookit me, bein' so daft as t' not even notice! Ra laughs at my mistakes, surely, I ought 'ter have know'd it paces 'n paces back, I oughta. I 'ope I ain't been rude none, not that I'm usually rude, I just mean---" She rambled on nervously, hoping she hadn't made a poor impression on the lovely lady of the house. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself and to clear her thoughts so she could answer intelligibly.
"What I'm tryin' 't say is I 'ope my company 'as been good t' ya, ma'am."

"It has been the best company I've had in awhile quite honestly. You can never get the same sincerity you can with a kitten."
She watched her recoil nervously at her findings. Chione was nervous herself that she had made a bad impression. She after all was nothing like the other hounds. She loved kittens and wanted everyone of them to be free and happy. It was mutiny to the eyes of the others so she kept her thoughts between herself and Anpu.
"And don't you at all worry. Everyone make mistakes little miss. No need to be sorry for it!" She wagged her tail not having an ounce of mean in her. She really dearly hoped the kitten would come about and see that she didn't need to be proper at all around her and Shemegisa would be completely free to be herself.
"So little friend. My husband hasn't been TOO mean to you has he?" She meant it in jest not knowing about his need to throw sharp objects at passerbys.

She seemed to visibly relax as Chione confessed that the company had been pleasant. She feared displeasing her new masters, and feared a beating even more. She hadn't had many, but the ones she had experienced had been extremely unpleasant and she wasn't looking for more. A few quick swats to her backside had been enough to shape her into an obedient slave in her former home, but they didn't hold a candle issued to what beatings she had received in her life outside the farm, before finding herself in Anpu's household.
"I'm glad you're findin' et good, ma'am, truly am, don't wanna make you or yer mate regret takin' me an' my sister 'ome, not at all. Live t' serve an' all that, sure do. I been workin' 'ard, too, preparin' for you to come 'ome! Master sure will be surprised, yep, he will! 'E talks about you all the time, 'e does." She bobbed her head in a matter of fact fashion as she spoke, her tense form melting to that carefree stance she had had before talk had become so tense.
"'E ain't been a bad master at all!" Of course she wasn't about to say anything false about him, that could get her into deep trouble. That meant not talking about the knife, something she would rather forget.

Her lips curled from ear to ear at the good news. That meant she wouldn't have to have a talk to Anpu about the kittens. Before she had met him he'd been a hound never to spare the switch or rod. It wasn't his fault it was just how his family raised him. It was also how her family raised her. But she just wasn't cruel or heartless enough to start doing those things. And being female she lucked out and never had to start beating kittens. They just took her as a 'soft' female; and in elite families that meant she would be easy to marry off to any sort of male.
Oh how she hated how her family worked. She wished that even now being estranged from anyone but Chuma that they could all get along. She missed her mother from time to time, and she sometimes wished to get to know her father. But that was over now. She had to be her own woman. Live her own life for herself. "Don't worry. I'm the nicest mistress you'll ever have. And if Anpu ever treats you wrong. You tell me and I'll have a talk with him."

She seemed happy and that was good. Very good. So long as she kept her happy, and Anpu happy, surely she would have an alright life. She was never one to think too far ahead, content living in the here and the now. And right here, right now, life seemed to be smoothing out once again. She had feared growing old, dying, being separated from her sister when she had been in the market, but now she couldn't really complain. Come to think of it, she still lived close to her old master and her parents, too. She could probably even get away with visiting, if she wished it. And, honestly, the only time she ever thought ahead was when it came to her gardening.
Oh, she dearly hoped that Chione liked what she had done with the place!
"Yes ma'am, I'll be sure to!" A rumble began in her chest, a light purr. Yep, she had very little to complain about at the moment and she knew so many other felines had it worse off. A thought did worry her, though. Wouldn't Anpu become angry if she ratted any bad behavior to his mate? She did not wish to risk infuriating him even more. He was absolutely terrifying when his temper flared and the last thing she wanted was to end up back in that filthy, stinking market again.

The sound made her relax at ease. She was never truly happy till her kittens were happy. "I'm glad you'll come to me." Her ears were tipped high towards the sky knowing luck had been with her since returning to the borders of Syria. Maybe even more so since returning. She at least now had somebody to make the long journey back to Caspia with and she even had coffee to take to Anpu. What a wonderful day.
"So lets head off to Caspia then shall we?" Her tail lifted up behind her like a sail catching air in the wind. Yes today was her lucky day.

"Right! Er, yes ma'am!" She agreed hastily, her tail flicking in excitement. A broad, goofy smile plastered itself across her maw and she adjusted the bag that hung at her side, no longer worried that the precious beans might be taken from her. There was no need! This lovely lady was none other than her master's mate and she was secretly glad that she had not only met her before she had returned to Anpu, but that she seemed so nice! She really did hope that she was pleased with her work and she hoped dearly that she could trust her as much as she seemed she could on this first meeting.
"Last one there's a rotten egg~" Of course, she would let Chione win, nor did she really intend to race the entire trip, but she was bubbling with excess energy, now that she wasn't obsessively worrying about how she appeared to the lovely, young hound. She darted forward on all fours, though not nearly as quickly as possible, as if mock playing with one of her now two masters, the only one of the pair she felt even remotely comfortable with acting impish towards.
