Newton's stare shifted down to the grass type once it started to stare at him. Still, he did not move.
"Nope. I'm on guard duty." Nyx took out her pokedex and started taking notes with the mini-keypad. She went ahead and sent an email to Nadja to schedule an appointment. With all the craziness with the raid and extra work, Nyx had accumulated quite the list of things to discuss with the Elite.
"You might want to finish mapping out the lobby and hop back in the elevator, though. We need this area clear for authorized personnel. Sometimes rampaging pokemon, too. So." Nyx's brows raised as she read through a long list of messages.

Fleur locked her eyes to Newton's, staring intently at the Drifblim, somehow unable to break her gaze away...
Aila's smile grew all the wider, "Ah, so you consider me a threat?" She sketched a rough diagram of the access panel for later research. Although she had abandoned the idea of forcibly entering the labs, it would not hurt to educate herself in the security systems' design. "I assure you, you need spare me no suspicion. Disobeying regulations would do nothing to advance my purpose."

"No, not really. But, you see. I'm on guard duty." Nyx grabbed a small tablet pen out of a small compartment in her pokedex and started poking at the screen.
The mouth in the center of the Drifblim's yellow X opened ever so slightly, creating a triple O triangle. That flower looked a little bit like the frosting on a birthday cake... A small string of drool started to creep it's way down Newton's mouth. He started to drift closer to the Ivysaur, but then, very suddenly, his eyes faced forward, stared for a moment, he turned, and disappeared into the elevator.
"...Wha-Newton?" Her pokemon's strange behavior caught even Nyx's attention this time. Eating another pokemon, not strange, being distracted from eating something... unusual.

The elevator cables hummed; a car was coming down.
The smooth sound was interrupted by a woman's muffled exclamation and a loud BANG, whereupon the doors trundled open and a half-deflated Drifblim slumped out.
A tall, redheaded woman shot the balloon an icy look and stepped around it, heels clicking on the tile. A Dusknoir floated through the door - and the floor - in her wake, its single red eye glowing malevolently. "We're going to talk about that thing," Nadja informed Nyx, using the same tones for 'thing' as she would for 'cockroach.' Her irritation shifted to Aila along with her sharp gray gaze. "Something for you?"
Behind her, the doors closed, smooshing more air out of Newton before rebounding.

Aila exhaled a breath of both relief and satisfaction. Someone needed to reprimand that Drifblim. She only wished it could have been done sooner.
She regarded the woman with a solemn respect, her pose straightening. "No, thank you. I am merely seeing to a self-assigned errand," she explained. A thought struck her. "Actually, may I ask for permission to enter the laboratory rooms? I require access for only a brief time - perhaps an hour at the maximum."

"Yes ma'am." Nyx pulled a pokeball from her belt and returned the deflated pokemon as the doors of the elevator began to close and smoosh it further.
Nyx suppressed the urge to face palm and/or lay the smack down on the trainee as Aila asked Miss Nadja for access to the labs. These reactions would be inappropriate in front of Miss Nadja. Instead, Nyx's head and shoulders drooped slightly, her jaw went slack, and her eyebrows went opposite directions on her face.

One slim brow arched gradually upward as Aila spoke. Nadja half-lidded her eyes and tilted her head slightly, regarding the trainee as one would a revolutionary group planning a city takeover - and trying to schedule an appointment for it.
"You may," she replied briskly, "and permission denied. I had a sign put up for a reason-" She indicated the corner of the red 'AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY' sign poking out behind Nyx's left elbow, "-and that was not to incite curiosity. What are those?" The elite indicated Aila's papers, keeping her hand out in a clear signal: give them to me.
The Dusknoir looked Nyx's way as Newton was recalled, then subjected Aila to a faceless stare. Something crackled on the edges of hearing like phantom radio static.

The corner of her mouth pulled to a side in an unsurprised but discontent frown. "Understood," she complied. She had foreseen as much. There was no harm in posing in the question, though. She glanced at the papers as Nadja solicited them and moved to offer them, a sense of pride shifting her features only slightly. She was doing quite well with her maps, if she did say so herself.
"The aforementioned errand," she said. "Records of the building's layout. As much of it as I am able to reach, at any rate." Her gaze wandered to the Dusknoir. There was something distinctly disconcerting about its presence, but she found the creature enchanting. That rich darkness, very nearly formless, had her very nearly entranced.

Nyx, very ungracefully, stuck a finger in her ear and twisted it around. There was some sort of buzzing static noise, and, if exposed to it for very long, it would drive her mad... Madder.
She tried not to think about that Dusknoir. It was huge and spooky.

Sensing her interest, the Dusknoir floated closer to Aila, its red gaze hypnotic. The phantom sound intensified.
The maps were highly detailed, well-drawn, and meticulously thorough. Nadja frowned at them, and recalled her Pokemon. The noise ceased.
"H'm. You show an inquiring mind but a dangerous lack of foresight," she concluded. The fiery-haired elite's gaze settled on the diminutive trainee, steely and cool as she rolled the papers in one long-gloved hand. "Consider your circumstances. The museum raid made you unpopular; you're starting at a disadvantage. Now you're snooping around high security areas mere weeks after recruitment, making detailed maps of the surveillance system for your own benefit." Nadja's tone was sharp and clipped.
"Do you know what this looks like? It looks like spying, and I sincerely hope it's not, because you would be a waste of time and bullets." The papers cracked against her palm. "Don't think you're special because you were sought. Most of us were."

Aila's eyes narrowed as the sound pervaded her mind. It had a certain physical sensation to it that she was not sure she at all enjoyed, and it was to her releif when Nadja called the Dusknoir back.
Aila met the elite's gaze earnestly as she heard her words. "Understood," she said, albeit somewhat grudgingly. She had been slaving over those maps since the first day she had entered the base, and she was bitter towards the idea of abandoning her efforts when she was already so far engrossed in them. She could, however, see the error in her actions. Truly she had no desire to pull suspicion unto herself - such suspicion would prove highly detrimental if it carried into the future. "I apologize. It would seem that my desire for knowledge undermined my judgment."

Nyx's eyes narrowed in pleasure and a smirk played at the corners of her lips. The girl should have left when she was told, but Nyx took pleasure in her rebuking.
Since Nadja was there, she had put her pokedex away and stood straight, instead of leaning against the door.

Which was a good thing, because a labcoated man pushed it open and poked his head out. "There you are." He adjusted his thick glasses at Nadja. "Were we going to meet about the Synchronicity Project today? Ma'am," he added when she raised an eyebrow at him.
"Yes, Allen, we're on schedule," the redheaded elite replied a touch wryly. She indicated Aila with the rolled-up papers. "I don't think you've met our newest recruit. She has an eye for detail and too much time on her hands - have any orders come in to the outpost?"
"Hmm." The scientist squinted at Aila critically. "Oh! Yes, the horseradish peroxidase and GFP are in. Hello Nyx," he remembered to say.
Nadja looked back to the contrite trainee. "There's an errand for you, then," she told her. It could have been a response to the apology - yes, I heard you, so here's a way to redeem yourself. "Go to the outpost in Camphoreon and retrieve the supplies. Nicole will go with you; she's familiar with the area and you would do well to start forging relationships with your teammates."

Aila listened only halfheartedly to the words that transpired between Nadja and the one named as Allen until she heard mention of herself. She opened her mouth to accept the orders, eagerly even, until she heard the qualifier. Her jaw slackened only slightly as she spared a glance in the direction of the specified woman. That Nicole - or Nyx, as she more frequently heard her designated - was amusing in her obvious distaste for the thief, but she had doubted her ability to tolerate the scientist for any extended length of time.
But she had been issued an order, and if she ever wished to retrieve those maps that she would only moments later watch disappear beyond that impassable door, she would have to follow through accordingly.
"...Understood," she assented, her voice heavy with disapproval. She turned to the white-haired woman as Nadja departed. "Then I suppose I am under your guidance hereafter." When it came down to it, after all, she had no idea where they were going.

Nyx smiled and waved at Allen. He was a cool guy. She turned to start to re-enter the labs as Aila was given orders, but her ascension into places the other girl would never see was halted suddenly when Nyx heard her name. "Wait wha-"
She looked at Nadja, then Aila, then Nadja again. "...Buh-" She held up her finger and then thought better and lowered it. "Yes ma'am."
Nyx stared at Aila for an almost unhealthy length of time before a sort of growl escaped from deep in her throat. Maybe she'd feed her to Will. He was a traitor and probably a cannibal. Like a ghoul, or zombie-robot. "You're driving."
