No. Naja definitely couldn't do that. Like a typical girl she let out a satisfying squeal when Grier lifted her into the air, and swung her over his shoulder. She didn't squirm, however, following his instructions readily. It was never a good idea to ignore instructions when somebody had you up in the air like that. Grier had nothing to worry about, really. Naja didn't associate him with those other boas, not in anything but the loosest of senses. She didn't think he was responsible for them and their less than overwhelming performance. After he put her down, she would tell him of how she hoped that he would make captain himself.
Assuming that she remembered to do so, with what all he was doing. Breathless, Naja stayed as perfectly still as she could manage until he let her down. She landed lightly, rather used to pulling off complicated maneuvers, though she had never tried something like this better. Blinking, she straightened her sunglasses (which thankfully hadn't fallen off of her face, or else he really would have found her as stunning as she'd warned), looking rather surprised. And then a grin split her face. "That wasss awessome! I wisssh that we could get ssomeone to pull off that kind of thing for the ssquad."
But of course, there was no place for big burly jocks on the Fearleading squad. Alas. She would just have to settle for enjoying what she'd been shown... as, she thought, he had done. He really had seemed to enjoy her little trick! That pleased her. "Sssometime, I will sshow you sssomething more than I did, I think." He had surely earned it. Was that innuendo? Perhaps. Perhaps not. His words had been entirely flattering, and if there was one thing that Naja liked, it was being flattered.
"No," she said with a coy little smile. "I can't do that. But can you do what I did?" They were obviously equal in their own way, and she was rather enjoying it. She'd never had such an opportunity to, well... play with boas before. She was finding it to be entirely to her liking. Then again, maybe he was different than the average boa at this school? She didn't know yet, of course. She barely knew anyone so far, but she had determined for herself that she would change that, and quickly.
All it took to gain popularity was confidence and a little bit of luck. She had brought the confidence, and while it was rather amusing to think of a lucky gorgon, she was sure that she would manage that too. Even if she had to get herself a black cat. "I hope you make captain, Grier. I think you'll do a great job." Flattery, yes, but after he'd just shown her how very strong he was, she couldn't help but feel that he deserved it. Strength was a part of football, wasn't it?
Now if only he would just go back to flexing his muscles! She'd liked that part. She showed it in the way she smiled at him, displaying a little tooth for full effect. It was an aggressive expression, but that wasn't amiss among monsters. If she'd been weak and retiring he probably would've been disgusted with her, and she would've been just as disgusted.
The cobras had not enjoyed the experience nearly so much as Naja, and they were in a writhing knot on her head. "... Oh pumpkin seedsss, not again!" Exasperatedly, Naja brought her hand up to begin sorting them out, focusing primarily on the others and not on Nag. Nag, after all, tended to remain near her chest rather than going wild in her hair. It was frustrating that she could never be perfectly groomed, but maybe a touch of wildness would add to her appeal. She'd had to toss the ball back to him once more, hands occupied with her snakes.

The male monster grins broadly when he hears the squeal. Nothing quite as satisfying as hearing a woman cry in surprise and in the rare occasion delight. Since she listened it was fairly easy for Grier to use her like a weight lifting device, doing those already mentioned reps before setting her down and flashing off his guns].
"Ahh, no offense but fearleading isn't my candy bag," he says with a grimace. He was still in that typical line of jock thought: girls cheered and boys played. There was no intermingling of the two when it comes to the wide, wide world of sports. "But uh, y'know, if you want me to do something like that for you.." He trails off, grinning now, and then instantly perks up when she talks of how she'll show him more.
Questioned and challenged he once again makes a look of disgust, shaking his head from side to side. "No way in hell can I do that. Hurt my nads too much." He resists the urge to actually pat himself in between there or cup them as if fearing she'd try to force him to do the splits right then and there. No way would he ever try that; it'd hurt too damn much. Ignoring that desire he goes on, "Well, thanks. I think try-outs are near the start of school." He leans towards her. "So maybe you should come and cheer for me there." Imagine the ego he'd have if she showed up and he was the only one with a fearleader there to cheer him on to victory. Man he'd have a lot to brag about to his peers. When he got them. If he got them.
Unfortunately for her, Grier was not too sharp on the uptake. At least not in the subtle hints that were body language. He wasn't aware that Naja was actually liking that silly little flexing of his muscles or else he might have gone right on doing it. Not that it mattered though as she flings the ball at him. It's caught and he rolls it around his palms, tossing it back and forth in front of them.
While she fixes the snakes he observes them a bit more closely. She mentioned being a Gorgon. He'd have to actually read about that. Maybe. Like he'd set foot in a library. "So uh, do they bite or something? Or are they there just to look menacing?"

It was awfully, awfully tempting to try to put her hands around those impressive pythons, and Naja's hand ached to do exactly that. But she wasn't going to, not just yet. Unfortunately, she had a whole mess of hair to straighten and soothe. Her stupid cobras had (most of them) happily gone along with her trick, but the moment he had shown off, they'd gone all to bits. But then again, they had known that she was going to do it. They had had no way of knowing what Grier had been about to do, and he'd been rather lucky that they hadn't bitten or spat at him. Either would have been exceedingly uncomfortable.
Probably it was her calm that had decided them. That and the fact that she had told them under no uncertain terms that they were absolutely not to bite fellow students. Really, it was like dealing with a bunch of two year old monsters! Wholly frustrating, and not hardly rewarding at all. ... Unless you couldn't unfortunate sights and smells as rewards, and then maybe. She was woolgathering now, distracted from her objective by the slithery snakes. Imagine that, snakes that slithered.
Crazy thoughts. "Oh don't worry. There'sss no place on a Fearleading sssquad for ssomeone like you. Not enough ballsss to throw around." Just attractive young women, of course. Well, attractive in their own ways. Naja had been thinking really hard about how they would inspire their team to be truly frightening, and so far she was coming up blank. Oh well, she was sure to find something eventually.
Now, his offer to do something like that for her was really rather appealing. She liked that idea quite a bit. "Sss... would you? Do sssomething like that for me, I mean?" They were right back into flirt mode, because Naja had never really fallen out of it, and Grier seemed to fall back in easily enough. Who would have guessed that a pair of teenage monsters might hit it off? Jocks were just about right for fearleaders, and fearleaders were just about the same for jocks. It made this whole process easier, as she was coming to find.
Still... she really did want to examine those muscles in finer detail. Sss! What was the harm in it, really? Nothing, of course. She doubted that he would be offended. Moving forward, Naja stretched out a hand. "May I?" Without waiting for him to give her permission, however, she laid her hand on his right arm. She'd never been this close to a boa like this before! It was rather exciting, actually, though she tried not to show how much so. It wouldn't do for him to think she had no idea what she was doing... which was exactly the case.
"We'll ssee," she said lightly, not taking her hand off of his arm. "Maybe I will ssshow up and cheer for you." If he made it worth her while, anyway! There was no point in giving away something for nothing, after all. She was beginning to realize that he wasn't picking up on her subtler cues, but she didn't really comprehend the full extent of it just yet.
When he mentioned her cobras, she glanced up to his face, away from his arms. "Um. Yesss, they do. They alsso ssspit, if they're pisssssed off. They're pretty much like any cobra ever, but I think maybe lessss venomousss?" Still uncomfortable and unpleasant to experience, however. In his special place, Nag sulked and stayed as hidden as a boob territorial snake could, which wasn't very. "When they are angry, they will ssspit at anyone who daresss come near-- if I don't keep them minded." Which she generally did. There was no sense in scaring someone away when she didn't want to.

Grier had felt a sense of relief wash over him when she said there was no place for him on a fearleading squad. He had feared Naja would attempt to persuade him to at least try out for he could easily toss up a few girls and catch without too much trouble. That was probably something they needed there on the squad; some strong boys to help the girls.
There was a nod from him when she makes her inquiry. "Yeah, sure, why not?" A desperate attempt to appear nonchalant, as if offering to do a bit more showing off was nothing out of the ordinary. In fact, it was. Sure he had flirted before but now that he was at the Academy it was a whole different ball game and he was coming up to bat. Gotta hit a home run, kid. He's got a nice pitch too: fearleader captain! Man if he gets that coveted rank of captain of the football team it'd be perfect. Of course he's not actually thinking that far ahead. It's just what goes on, but he is certainly trying to flirt, and probably doing a bit poorly at it. He was a sports' man, not a ladies' man.
Naja steps forth and before Grier is able to respond to her inquiry she is putting a hand on one of his arms. His tail goes stiff behind him and he noticeably tenses up underneath the touch of oddly soft fingers. The tentacle monster clears his throat and in an attempt to think fast does what he's best at: flexing. And so he does! Naja gets to feel the ligaments underneath her fingers stretching and collapsing underneath her, bulging up the flesh right beneath her touch.
"Yeah you should," he says without missing a beat. He was playing it cool again. Sure it's definitely an every day thing to have a Medusa be feeling up your arms. He does this hundreds of times a day. Ain't no thang. "I mean it'd be cool and all. Probably make all the other guys jealous." A snicker from the drooling mouth and he laps at his bottom lip with a thick black tongue.
Grier looks at the cobras now that they were discussing them. They were strange little things. It was the first time he'd seen a Gorgon, after all, and in a way it was curiously interesting how they seemed to have minds of their own, but particularly that one around her bosom sulking and grimacing at him. "Huh. I bet that will come in handy during the battles. Speaking of.. what can you do?"

It was all right, really. Naja was every bit as bad at flirting as Grier was, and even less experienced with it. She had no idea what she was doing, and was playing it by ear. Fortunately, her efforts didn't seem to be going unrewarded, if this was any indication. There really was no place for Grier on a Fearleading squad. After all, how in Jack's name could they ever hope to fit him into a fearleading uniform? They couldn't, of course. And Naja wasn't going to try. She wasn't even going to encourage him to try. Sure, there would be try-outs for more Fearios, but it wasn't like they were so desperate that they needed a football player to join them.
... Well, not like that, anyway. She would've been pleased as punch to do their practice at the same time as football practice, because at least then the ghouls (and some boas) wouldn't have to miss out on their daily fill of jock. Did the football players practice every day? Or was it more of a once a week kind of deal? She'd never considered it before now, and it was probably something that she ought to figure out before she made any plans.
She had to use both hands to grasp his arm, really, and even then they didn't quite meet. Wow. He really had some impressive muscles, didn't he? She didn't say anything about it, really, but it was fairly obvious that she thought that that was pretty cool. Monsters, male monsters, should all be built like this. Of course, that wasn't strictly speaking true, because some of them were just plain different and couldn't be reconciled, but... hell, it was a thought.
A nice thought. She made an appreciative noise when he flexed, her cheeks dimpling prettily. ... Which sort of disgusted her, really. Pretty wasn't all that fearsome, and definitely not the sexy, collected look she was going for. Oh well. He'd successfully distracted her with the shiny object, so to speak. "I think... that I am impressssed. You don't generally ssssee a monsster with sso much bulk around here," she complimented him, feeling the need to throw the proverbial bone.
"Wouldn't that give you an unfair advantage?" she teased, amused by his request. And really, it was a flattering one. No one had ever asked her to cheer for them before. "I think maybe I will. Sssomebody hasss to." Someone had to get those boas going! If it wasn't her, it likely wouldn't be anybody. Well. Anybody worth talking about, that is. Shehk, maybe. Shehk probably could've pulled it off, if she wanted to. After all, she was Co-Captain herself! "I would like to make them jealousss," Naja admitted with another of her sharp grins.
Out of the corner of her eye, she'd caught sight of that black tongue, and she drew her head up curiously. ... Well, it hadn't been so clear through the sunglasses, but she was aware of movement, anyway! "Ahh... yesss, I sshould explain that, ssshouldn't I?" Alas, here went her mystique. She'd never again have this particular secret from Grier. "Mm, well, I can ssstun with my gaze. Paralyze people, you know?" If she took her sunglasses off, anyway. With them on, she was about as safe as a gorgon with a rather irritable cobra could be.

Grier certainly was packing a thick stature. Hey, he's a monster and a jock; you can't be both and be some scrawny weakling. It doesn't work that way, especially not if you want respect, and he definitely wants respect. And to be fear. Feared especially.
"Humph, you know, I've noticed that myself," he answers, regarding the comment of his bulk. He had seen some particularly pathetic excuses for monsters, wondering just how they came to be, and what exactly made them so frightening. He used that word loosely. Clearly he is one who thought physical appearances is what got the job done, not some sort of mental manipulation.
"Like I care about being fair," he responds, snorting loudly. Yeah, he cheats when he has to, but really, what was wrong with having a girl cheering him on at a try out? "They'll get over it, and if they don't, they're just a bunch of humans." His way of calling them wimps; it was more insulting than just using the word wimp.
By now he has dropped his arm, hopefully without her still attached to it, otherwise it would be a bit awkward since she'd be leaned right up on him. Grier said nothing about making them jealous but his amusement is clear at the possibility in that smirking grin of teeth, drool dangling just some in between.
"Well, you don't have to." He didn't want to come off as too pushy, and really it was only meant to be a way to get conversation a rolling. But he was becoming all too aware of how he had blown off his...friends, and it was time to get rolling. He did listen, nodding, and looking intrigued. "Huh.. That's neat. I'll have to watch it sometime." The monster drags his hand over his mouth, not looking at all bothered by his constant wiping of saliva. "Well, Naja, I better get going. I mean, I'd love to stick around but y'know, gotta get going. Maybe I'll uh... see you around?"

As luck would have it, Naja was not in fact still attached when Grier brought his arm down. She would've blushed over her fascination with those big, brawny arms, but it was perfectly natural. After all, it wasn't often a ghoul met a boa with such intimidating musculature. He was... well, a bit of a catch, wasn't he? It had not occurred to her to try to catch him in the midst of all that flirting, but she wasn't going to forget about him anytime soon.
"There are ssso many ssskinny monsstersss here, and it'ss a real ssshame." Fortunately, they had Grier for all of their bulky needs. Here she did flush, just a little, her scales darkening charmingly. "Fine. If you don't care about fairnesss, neither do I. I'll be there." Be there or be square, as the saying went. But she would be there, and that was that.
He was properly appreciative of her abilities, and she inclined her head slightly, warding off the irritable Nag, who was not at all pleased with her new 'friend'. "Sssee you around, Grier. I'm sssure you'll be sseeing me more than you think." With that rather mysterious remark, she was off, darting back into the shadows that she'd came from.
Naja made a note to look up try-outs, and figure out when his would be. Surely if she made an appearance he'd get the position he wanted. She hoped so, as it would be very nice to already know the team captain. Musing to herself, she decided that she'd talk to Shehk about it, see what she knew.
And besides, the two ghouls had quite a bit of gossip to exchange as it was. Turning once back toward the field, she watched for Grier's shape through the shadows, sunglasses firmly in place. "I will be sseeing you," she told herself, and whoever else might be listening, before she truly did disappear, blending as easily with the shadows as if she'd been born from them.
