Chuppi was strong for a Chupacabra, which made her story not quite an entire lie. She was small, sure, but she could still easily move things without much difficulty so long as she was driven on fear and trying to get away. Her brothers had often made it a habit to stack things on her to see how long before she'd be crushed, so Temes had long since learned that adrenaline was amazing in assisting her with problems. Well, adrenaline and flashing her eyes to stun things. Together they made an awesome combination, or so she thought.
Belladona's look of unhappiness at mentioning her mother did not go missed by the little girl and she frowned, reaching for her Thermos and taking a gulp from it. She'd been careless with her words and now this bruja was mad at her, causing Chuppi to wonder if she might get hurt. When nothing happened she still gave herself another gulp of the Thermos, her stomach rumbling.
"I think I...could probably lift you up. To show you how strong I am."

The idea of being lifted by such a small girl was too funny to Belladonna to hold back her giggles. They weren't meant as mean or cruel giggles, just amused little chuckles. Besides, if this Temes (Hhmmm, Temes seemed so formal! She needed a nickname!) could actually lift her, then Belladonna MIGHT let that whole notion of the real reason she came to Amityville go. But mostly likely not.
"Alright. Pick me up!" Unsure of what exactly to do, Belladonna stood as tall as she could (which wasn't very much, but it was taller than Miss Temes!) and waited patiently. "You know, Temes sounds a bit formal. Do you have a nickname perhaps?" And where WAS Binx with that cloth? The poor girl's spines were still dirty and that just wasn't fair. Who had done such a thing? Maybe after this whole pick-me-up game Belladonna would kindly ask who they looked like and seek revenge. GRR.

"Mi familia calls me Chuppi."
Temes took a small breath before she reached over and swept Belladona off her feet (literally!), holding the young woman in her arms as easily as another human (of better size) would. She had to exhale a bit to keep her balance, the motion and sudden weight was a bit much, but seeing as she was a monster - this was nothing. Lifting Belladona was no harder than trying to toss around her siblings when they were all in their natural forms, and Chuppi was a pro at getting them off her back. Literally.
"There, see? Tu eres muy peso ligero."
What Chuppi had said was "You're not heavy at all". Or something very similar, and she set the larger girl down and dusted her clawed hands on her pants. She'd been proud of herself on how she didn't cut the other girl up with lifting her! Well done Chuppi!
"You probably could not and should not lift me. I am very heavy."

The sensation of being lifted by someone smaller than oneself was intensely interesting and certainly something Belladonna had never experienced before. It was much more the fact that she wasn't expecting Temes, erm Chuppi, to be able to lift her. This was an instance where it was alright to be proven wrong. Quickly, Belladonna was set down and she took a few steps to right herself after such an interesting excursion.
"Chuppi? What a darling name. May I call you Chuppi too?" She asked, clapping her hands together with glee. She hadn't really given anyone a nickname before and was rather glad not to have to think of one. Chuppi probably wouldn't have liked to be called "Spikey". No, definitely not. "Sangria" was rather pretty, but as it made fun of her blood drinking, it was probably also unsuitable.
"I don't think I could lift you even if you weren't heavy..." Belladonna began, biting her lip. "I'm not very strong... Not physically anyways. I like to think my will is strong, but in the muscle department..." Her she waved a delicate arm to show her point. "Not so much... I'll probably take a gym class just so I can defend myself in the future, you know?" For a moment a cloud passed over her eyes as she recalled the event of journeying to the school, of how she had been vulnerable and weak. It wasn't a pleasant experience.
"Goodness, Binx should be back by now!"

Chuppi was pleased to see that the other girl was impressed with how she'd lifted her. It hadn't been any trouble at all for Temes to even try and part of her wanted to do it again and show off many more times. It felt good to be praised for once even if it was only by one person and for doing something that came naturally to the Chupacabra. Maybe Belladona would like seeing her jump even more? Chuppi could jump higher and farther than any of her siblings, something that always came in handy.
"I weigh much more than you. I am probably the same as two of you, maybe three? I am heavier than all of my siblings, even though I'm smaller."
Chuppi stretched her legs for a moment before taking a sip from her Thermos, glad it was still on her body and had at least a few drops left in it. While this conversation wasn't making her overly nervous she still was quite hungry.
"a...and...you can call me Chuppi if you want. I know my name is hard to say for those not native Spanish speakers. We put stress on hard things. Your name is pretty and easy to say, Belladona. I like it a lot."
When the woman mentioned her missing cat, Chuppi looked around too. A few snorts of her nose as though she were breathing could be heard, and soon she turned to face back at Belladona.
"He is coming. I smell his blood."

If Belladonna had known that Chuppi could jump very high, she would have been delighted at this knowledge and probably even tested Chuppi's abilities by flying on her broom to see if Chuppi could match the height. But instead, Belladonna considered three of herselves and decided the world wasn't ready for that much lace and petticoats. She smiled when the chupacabra complimented her name, dipping her head in a small bow.
"Thank you. Your native language sounds very interesting! I would so love to learn a few words." And this was very true. Belladonna didn't really know another language as she had felt she wouldn't need them and now she was wishing she had! Her Latin for spells was nonexistent, so learning something else seemed to be in her best interest. Before she could expound on this point, Chuppi mentioned Binx's blood and felt a little p***k on the back of her neck. While she appreciated knowing he was close, the idea of scenting him by his blood made her feel a bit queasy. She thanked the small girl and turned away to find Binx trot forward, a very thick cloth in his mouth.
"This is perfect!" Belladonna called the cat, sweeping him up into her arms and giving him a rather loud kiss. Binx gave a few noncommittal words of no consquence, dropping from her grasp to stand a few feet away and watch the two. "If you turn around I'll clean your quills. Is there someplace to sit, maybe?" The witch asked, looking for a place to sit, smiling and prepared to do good by this sincere girl.

"I could teach you easily, you seem like you are very smart. You must be smart to come here as a Reaper, right? Reapers are very different from monsters and undeads, from ghosts and demons. You are much more like monsters though than anything else, because Mama always said no one likes Reapers. No one likes monsters either."
Chuppi's face had been looking happy for most of their shared conversation, the little monster pleased that someone was talking to her, wanting to clean her up, and she hoped that maybe when they parted ways she would have a friend. At the return of the cat and the mention of a place to sit Chuppi looked around the best she could and, spotting a bench, took Belladona's hand into her own as she lead the witch over. Once Belladona was seated the little monster turned so that her quills were visible (and still quite dirty)m positioning herself for them to be wiped clean.
"Thank you again for cleaning me off. I'd have a hard time reaching those in the shower. Most of the time my quills are only ever rinsed, not wash. They probably smell really bad."

Belladonna dipped her head in an acknowledged bow of thanks for the compliment. Was it true that Reapers needed to be smarter than the rest to get into school? Sure, they had to channel their FEAR differently, but she wasn't sure what she thought of all that. As for no one liking Reapers (and Monsters for that matter!) she couldn't help but feel a little sting. Sure, her family was fairly accepted by others due to their slightly elevated status, but it didn't stop all the prejudice. And really, she hated that. And she hated that Chuppi was not liked either...
Yet when the the Chupacabra took her hand, Belladonna's cheeks warmed to a light pink and she couldn't help but feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Though when the two sat, a great whiff of the dirty quills hit Belladonna and all fuzzy feelings quickly departed. She managed a small smile (even if Chuppi couldn't see it) and positioned the clothe so that it wouldn't leave room for exposure to her skin. Being as careful as she could she wiped down the quills, trying to get the little bits of caked on... um, grime(???) off the more difficult to reach places.
"Do you think you'll grow any? You might be able to reach them better as you get older!" Sure, Belladonna didn't know much in the way of Chupacabras, but that didn't matter much as she was sure her projected scenario was exactly what happened! It had to, otherwise that was just too unfair...

How long ago had it been since her quills were properly cleaned? A good bath sometimes helped when she could be in her natural form, which was her dorm room and the human world only, so to have someone helping her out made the chupacabra very happy. Her face turned a dark shade of green with excitement when she felt the rag start to wipe away the grime, and inwardly she hoped that she didn't smell too bad. It had been a while after all.
"Muchas gracias again for helping me. I cannot reach so well with my arms and I've gotten dirty lately."
There was a sip or two on Chuppi's thermos before she answered the question, her head turning back to look over her shoulder. She thought about how to answer in English, her mind taking the time to figure the words out. Coming here had been a good experience for learning another language!
"No, I do not think so? We Chupacabra as naturally very small, and I am the runt of the family. Mi famila - my family is all small though, mi padre is no taller than....four feet? To say four feet."

The smell was bad, but slowly getting worse so Belladonna wasn't put off by it too much, for it certainly wasn't the worst. (She had an Aunt that loved experimenting with potions but Good Hecate did they STINK!) Yet the idea of Chuppi's father being still shorter than Belladonna made her giggle uncontrollably. It didn't seem necessary to point out that Belladonna was taller, and after all, she really didn't want to go about poking fun (however innocent) at anyone's father. Especially not her new friend!
"Well, next time I go to the maul I'll see if I can find you something that'll help keep those quills clean!" Belladonna was thinking more along the lines of something like a long brush that would reach from Chuppi's hand to those dirty quills. "And until then, I'll give you a weekly quill cleaning. Do you think that'd work?"
At the grateful nod and mumblings of happy Spanish words, Belladonna felt that familiar feeling of camaraderie she had been missing. Maybe Amityville would do her more good than just teaching her to fight? Chuppi was quickly becoming a fast friend and Belladonna hoped they would continue to be close friends.
With a swift motion (and a mind to carefully avoid those now clean, but still very sharp quills!) Belladonna leaned forward and planted a kiss on the back of Chuppi's head.
Yes, they would be very good friends!
