"Nah. I bet you'll find yours first," he said, and nudged her back. "In fact, I bet we'll walk right out there and something will come running up to you and give you big pleading eyes and say 'take me home, Astar, I'll be yours forever!"
He sped up a bit, bounding forward now. He could just imagine the scene playing out in his head and it made him smile. He was, at that precise moment, the very image of confidence. "And we'll BOTH get ours before our sister, I bet."

Astar let out a loud laugh, very uncharacteristic of her usual personality but she just couldn’t help it. Her brother’s words brought the very clear image of a large bird with deep black eyes flying down from the skies just to beg to be bonded to her. It was the most ridiculous thing she’d ever had on her mind.
At the mention of Talia, however, a sly grin slowly formed on her maw. She was very close to her sister but one didn’t have to be in order to realize Talia had a strong personality. Her brother’s statement would never go without an appropriate (and most likely amusing) response if she were here.
“You wouldn’t say that in front of her.” She teased quietly before she decided to rephrase her words. “Actually, I dare you to say that in front of Talia.”

He grinned back, his own mental image -- a big watery-eyed waterbuck was staring up with a quivering lip -- still in his mind as well. "Well, prove me right then, and I will."
Oh, Talia would be SO mad.
...but it'd be hilarious.
In high spirits, he padded out, feeling thoroughly positive that at any moment, good fortune would fall from the sky and bop him on the nose.
