"Ah, well you'll have to tell me if he teaches you anything interesting yes?" Mai said, giving a small smile. "Or maybe he would mentor me too?"

After a pause, "I think I've seen this Grier lumbering through the halls." She tilted her head in thought as she eyed Pachua. "He's very big.." she said doubtfully, as she couldn't quite credit his remark. "What is yooour.. real form?"

"It would have to be living fire," Mai mused. Was there such a thing? She knew of ghost fire, but living? Would have to look it up later.. She reached into the lining of her obi, which incidently caused quite a bit of... jiggling, and pulled out a small abused notebook and pen and proceeded to write "research living flame" on it in neat handwriting.

She held the notebook at her side and gave a ghostly grin. "I would love to seee," she said, her voice echoing hollowly. "Will you shoow me?"

At the sudden shift, the small blue wisp that had been floating docilely moments ago flared violently, a wave of chill rather than heat emanating from its roiling center in waves. Mai huffed and waved her hand around in the heart of the flaming spirit as if to put it out. "That's enough youu," she mumbled, "he's not gooing to hurt me."

In response, the wisp went out in a *puffff* and disappeared completely. Mai sighed and turn her attention to Pachua as he loooomed above her.

How glorious! "Oooh," was all she thought to say. She watched the great muscles flex under his brilliant scales.. so much space to lay herself flat against and soo smooth looking. She reached forward to run her hand along the side of the nearest coil. "Terrifying," she offered, thinking that was probably a good compliment? Mai didn't have much experience in this department.

With a mighty effort, she resisted the urge to rub herself on him like some kind of domestic house cat. She instead contented herself with running her hands over his scales and feathers quite inappropriately.

Petting was a pretty accurate description of what Mai was doing. She just couldn't help herself, he was sooo... petable! And so warm under the palms of her hands. It seemed to her that maybe 'gorgeous' would have been a better description than 'terrifying', but she at least had enough experience in her memory to realize that a monster preferred to be scary rather than pretty.. generally.

On the other hand, he was very big, and serpents were customarily fearsome beasts. She suspected she was probably not being sufficiently frightened by his grand display.. But dammit she could not help being distracted by the thought of those coils wrapping around her...

Well, clearly those weren't proper thoughts. How old was Pachua anyway, she wondered in alarm. He looked young... but age was always a little tricky in Halloween Town. She was about to ask, but stopped herself, thinking he might not like to answer that. Were males as weird about their age as females? She couldn't remember. Mai was already making all kinds of breaches in manner and she didn't want to scare off a potential... friend.

With a visible effort, she pulled her hands away and backed up a few steps.

"Well.. ahh. Pachuaa. It was very nice to meet yoouu." Her sleepy gaze lifted to him and she smiled. "I'm sure we will seee a lot of eachother.." She wondered if she might be allowed to visit his dorm.. "I should be going.. I have not moved innto my room yet." She also wondered if he might visit her some time. "We should meet up for some sunnning soon."

Well, all things considered, Mai thought she had done pretty well for her first official encounter with a student. To reward herself, she indulged, gliding forward to give Pachua a very... friendly.. hug.

"I would liike that, I think." She said into his shoulder. "Having a mentor.. might be nicce."

She stepped back and looked at him sideways. "See you around Pachuaa." And with that, she drifted past him, determined to at least get partway settled into the ghost dorms before school started.
