It grew much hotter, and Aruna noticed due to the close proximity that he flames around his feet were dancing around her own paws as well. Though any other fox probably would have caught fire, her own, green paws remained unsinged. Looking up, Aruna saw that the 'Daeva completely towered over her, from her perspective. He was intimidating, at first, but somehow she thought he wasn't trying to be. Maybe an attempt at being a little threatening, but not enough to scare her off. 'Not that it would work,' Aruna thought, in defense of herself.
She debated for a time an answer to his question. All jokes and wit aside, Aruna supposed she should answer honestly. "No," she finally replied, "I don't exactly know what this would entail. I could assume, I suppose, some of what you meant by the warning, but... I'd be lying if I said it worried me."

She wasn't scared of him? Even with his fire dancing over her paws, the vixen held her ground and showed no fear. Ki's mind was completely boggled but he kept his composure. Maybe Aruna had already come to realize that he wasn't a threat like most 'Daevas. Sure, it could be the rough and tumble type when he was with his brothers, but Ki had never been known as violent or ill-tempered. The 'Daeva wondered if it was that obvious how he didn't fit the stereotype for his species.
"It doesn't worry you?" Ki began looking down at the vixen he towered over. "It would not worry you to travel with a being known for their ill-tempers, savage personalities, and uncaring nature?" He wasn't painting a pretty picture for his kind but he knew it was nothing the vixen hadn't already heard. Ki's family wasn't at all like that though. Sure, they got in fights but they were overall civilized. Well, maybe everyone but his brother Agni. Oh what his brother would think of him if he saw him now. It didn't matter, Ki felt no shame in being interested in the flaming vixen.

"But... You aren't like that at all, are you?" It was more of a statement than a question. "No one with that kind of personality, fox or 'Daeva, would have put up with all that I have said until now," Aruna pointed out. "Had you been anything like that, we wouldn't be having this conversation."
After a short pause, Aruna continued, "Regardless, I suppose I should be a little frightened, shouldn't I? You're very intimidating by nature, with good reason, and your kind's history isn't too promising, as you so kindly listed.
"Still, what difference should it make? You aren't your kind, and clearly I can handle your intimidation better than most in my position could. So no, I can not honestly say that I am too freightened. Still, I must ask one you one question."

Ki almost smiled happily at Aruna's response. He found it nice that a vixen could see past the flames and stereotype and actually see him for who he was. She was right, he wasn't at all like his kind. That did bother him a bit though being raised by 'Daeva's and not being anything like them. Still, the 'Daeva was happy that the vixen could see him like no one else could.
"It could be a trick you know. I could just be acting this way to gain your trust just so that I could play a horrible game with your mind." At that, he did smile. If there was one thing Ki did love, it was mind games. "But think what you will about me." Ki backed off from her a little so that the flames at his feet only danced around his own paws.
"What is your question?" He asked finally, a tiny bit interested at what sort of question she could possibly have for him.

"Could be," Aruna repeated with a smile, not thinking too much about it. He didn't seem to be either, as he took a step back a little afterwards.
He seemed interested in what her question was, and she smiled inwardly. "There is one thing that has bothered me throughout this entire conversation," she began, dancing around her question a bit, "and I think it's a little unfair that you've kept this little tidbit of information from me thus far.
"You see, I've told you quite a bit about my background already, but you, Stranger, have yet to even mention your name to me." She ended her speech, looking up at him expectantly. "I can't possibly call you ''Daeva' or 'Stranger' from now on, so my question to you is what is your name?"

He was hiding something from her? Confusion crossed Ki's look for a brief second before Aruna asked her question. Had he really failed to mention that? Where had his manners gone? Oh wait, that's right, he tried not to have manners.
"Ah." He said amused. Of everything one could ask a 'Daeva, she simply wanted to know his name. "That would be because I do not give out my name to just every fox I meet."
But she did have a point. Aruna had told him plenty about her and indulged in all of his questions. It was only fair to answer hers. Aruna would be the only fox outside of his tribe that would know him by name. Ki sat down and wondered to himself why telling her his name mattered so much to him. Why was he acting strange? This really wasn't a big deal.
Finally, he sat and caught her gaze. "Ki."

Aruna felt fairly proud of herself as she saw the look of confusion, then of amusement flash across his face. There was a long silence after his initial comment, and Aruna wondered whether or not he would really reveal his name to her.
When he finally did, she smiled and said, "Well it's nice to finally meet you, Ki. And I'm glad to hear that I'm not just any normal fox." After a few short moments, Aruna decided add more. "Is there anything else I should know about you, Ki. I don't think I've told you absolutely everything about myself yet, and I don't mind answering more questions, as long as I get some answers of my own."

"Your ear is on fire. It is clear to see that you are not just any normal fox, Aruna." Yet, it was strange to see a fox look so happy upon discovering the name of a 'Daeva. Yes, if there was anything certain about Aruna, it was that she was not by any means a normal fox. Ki had to constantly remind himself of this.
Ki gave her an amused look at her second statement. She was allowing him to question her as long as she could question him? Why would he agree to that? He already knew plenty about her. But he stopped and thought about the first part.
"You should probably know I have three brothers, one of which will go out of his way to make your life miserable if he found out...." Ki trailed off. If Agni found out what? That he was thinking of traveling with her? That he was offering to be her heat source? That he was even talking to her? "...That you interest me." He decided on. Just what exactly was going on between him and Aruna? Were they friends now? Ki blinked at the thought. He had never had a friend before. He had never felt attached to anyone before either. Did Aruna have some weird vixen power that she was trapping him with?
"What other answers could you possibly seek?" Ki asked to distract himself from his own thoughts. If they were going to be playing fair, it was only fair that he answer some of Aruna's questions now, without wit and games.

Aruna chuckled, knowing that Ki had a point. She wasn't, by any means, normal. Compared to him, she was. At Ki's explanation of his brothers, Aruna raised an eyebrow. "Should I be worried now?" She asked, though she doubted that anything terrible would happen. Aruna decided against saying anything about the second half of the statement, but the phrase lingered in her mind.
She interested him? Well, obviously, or they wouldn't have had this entire conversation. Still, Ki admitted it outright. And judging by the pause in his sentence, it seemed as if he had an alternate phrase in mind.
She shook the thoughts from her mind, and returned to Ki's question. "Well, how about..." She started thoughtfully. "Well, where are you and your family from? Are you from a tribe? Claimed a particular area as your own?" Aruna remembered that she had only mentioned her family in passing, and supposed it was quite clear that her parents weren't together. She hadn't mentioned her mother's tribe, or other two children.

It appeared that the conversation with Aruna was going to turn into a game of twenty questions. It was somewhat weird to have a vixen questioning him about his life. Ki wondered if other foxes would ask him the same questions given the chance.
"Fortunately, my deliquent brother is not in this area so for the time being, no, you should not be worried." He doubted she would worry even if he told her to. Hopefully she wouldn't have to meet Agni for a long time. Ki was smarter than Agni, but not stronger... The daeva' shook the train of thought from his head and focused on the questions at hand.
"I was born into the Kuria tribe." Ki stated, answer the tribe question and where he was from in one go. "My parents wondered before settling down there; I don't know where they lived before Kurai." He figured he should tell her why he left or actually about his family, but it was not what she had asked so he kept quiet. It was his turn now.
"Do you know where your parents are from? Do you have a tribe?" Ki decided to lay down. If there were going to spend the rest of the day questioning each other down, he might as well be comfortable.

Kurai? Kurai... Something about that tribe sounded familiar. Aruna couldn't rememeber, and watching him lie down decided to take a seat on the ground herself. Wrapping her tail around herself, she stopped thinking about it to answer the question asked of her.
"Well, my father is a wanderer, as are my siblings, last time I checked," Aruna began. "My mother is a member of the Kousetsu tribe, though. She lives there with my uncle and his family. It was much too cold there, though, so my siblings and I decided to leave.
"My mother and father aren't mates, by the way," she added as an afterthought, "and my mother has two other children with some other vixen that she also isn't mated to..." Aruna trailed off a bit, remembering something. As a kit, she had taken a liking to one of her half-siblings, Caelan. And after deciding to leave Kousetsu, she had been searching for him. "My half-brother is in Kurai!" She half-exclaimed as she finally remembered the fact. "I looked for him there a bit, but never got around to finding him. I wanted to live with him, you see."

Ki's tail twitched lazily behind him as he sat and listened to the vixen talk about her family. It seemed she had a much larger family than his. Well, as far as parents and siblings were concerned. His ears perked up at mention of the Kousetsu tribe. A member of the snow tribe gave birth to a vixen who's ear was on fire? The 'daeva couldn't help but be utterly amused by this.
A confused look crossed his face as she spoke of a member of his tribe. She had a half-brother that was in his tribe? Ki quickly went through the list of males in his tribe in his mind and tried to remember where they all had come from before Kurai. Aruna didn't remind him of anyone in particular but he had ruled out every male save for one.
"Caelan?" He guessed, raising an eyebrow at her. Ki had always seen him around but hadn't talked to him often. It was almost a relief that Aruna had family in the tribe though. He wouldn't feel nearly as guilty bringing her home if she wished to be re-united with her half brother.

“Yup!” Aruna replied with a nod, as Ki guessed the identity of her brother. “I've only met Caelan once, quite briefly, but I liked him, and I figured the tribe he was in would be more fitting for me than Kousetsu." She paused a little, smiling. "It seems I was right about that."
"Anyways," Aruna continued, shifting her gaze to the ground, "I haven't met Caelan's sister, Lela, or his mother. My mother didn't talk much about them, since she didn't know either of them very well."
After another short pause, Aruna said, "I guess it's my turn to ask a question." She couldn't really think of one, though. “Umm, so what are you doing on this mountain?” She finally asked. “We’re not exactly on Kurai ground, as far as I know.”

Ki wanted to tell Aruna that he thought any tribe would be more suited for her than Kousetsu but didn't. If she wanted to think Kurai was a better for her than the others, he would let her think that. He was starting to develop mixed feelings about bringing her home. On one hand, he want to show her off to his mother and reunite her with his half brother. On the other hand, he didn't want the responsibility of protecting her from his brother or having to deal with the teasing and harassment.
In the back of his mind, Ki couldn't help but smirk. Normal foxes had given 'Daeva's a stereotype for being so uncaring, untrustworthy, ill tempered, and vulgar. Yet Ki's mother and father were mated, loyal and helpful to a tribe, and raised four sons together where as Aruna's mother was unmated, had two different sets of offspring, and didn't even know some of them very well. Ki was willing to bet that if you took Aruna's mother and his mother and set them before someone who had no clue about them though, his mother would be accused of being the single mother with children she didn't know. But interesting enough, Ki actually preferred it that way.
The 'Daeva pulled himself from his thoughts once again to answer Aruna's question. "I was tracking one of my brothers." He stated simply. Then he thought of how Aruna went into detail without being asked so he continued for her amusement. "He tried to sneak away from the tribe to come mess with some 'Phim. I was board so I decided to track him and find out what he was up to. But hunting a field mouse could provide me with more of a challenge than tracking him." Ki stated with an exaggerated expression of boardom.

"Is it the same brother that you said I should watch out for?" Aruna asked. It wouldn't surprise her, considering the 'messing with a 'Phim' comment. It was strange that she hadn't seen any sign of another 'Daeva. Perhaps she simply didn't know what to look for.
"So you aren't going to bother searching anymore?" She asked. "Perhaps that 'Phim is in trouble." Aruna wasn't sure that Ki would particularly care about the 'Phim either way."What were you going to do instead?"
