Jack worked his jaw as subtly as he could. Attempting, and failing, to get the raw burn of too much salt to go away, Jack ignored his captain's attempt to rally the crew. It didn't much matter, anyway. The others were already antsy and perfectly willing to go to their possible deaths. Jack certainly was. They were down to the last, the toughest, and (Jack tried to swallow, but only gulped dry air) the saltiest of the meat. They had enough water, lucky them, but the Falling Mist and her crew had to hit someone soon, and they were currently floating above the only target they'd seen in weeks.
Their captain boomed, the same way he always boomed, "Young Floyd will take point, and fasten the first ropes. Team ∆elta will follow to secure the landing, and we'll pour over them, spill their blood like rain, and take a prize home to Mommy, any complaints?"
Predictably, there were none. Jack headed to the jumpers' platform. He shifted the backpack higher on his shoulders, the weight of his hammer dragging the pack back down almost immediately. Jack scowled. He'd learnt two important things over his time with the pirates. 1) Almost everything is inneuendo for something indescribably filthy. 2) Never take anything you want to keep off your person for any reason. Jack's formal clothes and pen set might not be anything like necessary in a raid on another ship, but if he left them behind, they'd become someone else's formal clothes and pen set. Heaving a sigh, Jack leaned out the window, laying eyes on their mark below their cloud cover, and set his grappling hook. The first contact should be fairly subtle. The longer before some of the ship's guards spotted them, the better their chances.

Hard had just given the all clear on his crew and the shift change happened, that meant there was no one on the top of 'the bubble.' Hard was the only Marine officer on board so he ended up pulling duty till the night shift where six sergeants took over. Hard was standing at his post when he felt something inherently wrong. All his posts had reported in as on duty after the shift change, except the 'the bubble.' Hard got on the radio and the switchboard connected him. Only static. Well then, let's find out what's wrong.
"Captain, Leaving the bridge to check on 'The Bubble' and make sure we haven't lost another one to altitude sickness." The captain nodded and Hard turned and left. He passed his room and grabbed his sidearm and rifle. He began the long journey up the massive blimp.

The sun had just begun to set, making this the perfect time to strike. The navigators had noticed the target's drop in altitude, and adjusted course to keep them in range. Jack grinned, he'd heard some of the older pirates murmuring to themselves over their target. The Laterne Von Prussia was a famous thing, and a worty prize for any crew. If all went well, Jack's pa would eat well of his double share. Jack pulled his goggles over his eyes and fixed his gaze on the top of the zepplin below him.
Jack pulled hard on his grapple, checking the set, took a rope, and lept from the platform. The air rushed by him as he fell, the kinetic and pseudo-magnetic systems on his grappling rig slowing his descent just enough that he landed lightly. Jack dispatched the guard quickly, securing a platform for the pirates to stage their raid. A quick tug on the extra line he'd tied up, and a moment to disengage his own grappling system, and the pirates had begun their incursion. Jack kept a lookout down one ladder. Team ∆elta landed and began their own preparations, securing extra lines. Jack began the arduous descent down the blimp, his longknife at the ready.

Ϯhierry ティエリー She had managed to convince the Captain that a lower altitude would be easier on the vessel as well as to alter the direction later on if that did not ease the work load for the boilers. During that time, a foreign ship had been spotted on the radar but no one had paid it much attention while it was too far away to be considered a threat. However, it was now directly above them with an apparent attempt for things to stay that way.
"I'm going to see what's going on," Tear said, pulling herself away from the map book that she was studying. The Chief looked over at her from across the room. He was one of the people who knew about her early morning practices and more than ruthless method fighting if the arrows were of no use. "Don't worry. I'll go, check it out and come back." One of her reassuring smiles flashed back at his concerned features and she was on the move, returning to her cabin. The weight was shifting and Hard's men were running around a lot more than they did for the regular drills. This did not bother her though. Something was wrong and she was one of the few people onboard who could do something useful if it was a dangerous situation, such a pirate attack. Thierry shuddered at the thought as she had been discovered on one such occasion. The young woman grabbed her special arrows and bow, locked the cabin again and headed for the opening which led to the Gondola and beyond that was a passage to the top of the airship, specifically the deck. If anything, the trouble would be starting there. Within a few minutes, the main door pushed itself open and Thierry walked out onto it, leaning over the edge to scope out the proximity of the other ship as well as if there had been any attempts to board. She did not pull an arrow as yet though. Her reaction time was astounding. Surprise offenses were not a disadvantage.

Hard had watched them board, but did nothing yet, her was at the extreme front of the blimp and could see the airship above. His men had prepared for this, and would stop the boarders and reverse the offensive onto them. He had let the on duty Sergeant know to get all men ready. Now at the bottom of the seven ladders were ten men preparing to kill. Thierry popped out of another ladder and Hard groaned, what the hell are you doing up here? Well the way was clear, the pirates were latched on to the back of the ship, and the fog blocked his movements from view. Hard stayed low and ran the path the stretched from ladder to ladder till he was behind the girl.
"Miss Thierry, you shouldn't be on top of the Bubble. In fact you should go back to navigation room, we have picked up pirates and all non combatants need to stay at their stations. My Marines will take care of them." Hard opened the hatch and noticed clinking from inside. That's right one had gone down.
"Follow after me in ten seconds, I have a pest to get rid of, and it will not be pleasant." Hard grabbed both sides of the ladder and slid to the first platform. He used his ears and found Jack. He was three platforms down. Hard began to pursue, none to quietly.

Lucille "Lucy" Cohen
Lucy left soon after she saw that the third and final secondary boiler was being warmed up. The captain would have her a** for a chair seat if she didn't try and get the flute fixed. She remembered seeing a loose pipe in one of passenger's cabins; it was just about the perfect size. Now which one was it again?... She just hoped that the cabin wasn't occupied; it wasn't likely, but then again, on the Laterne you never know what's what and who's who. Lucy thought it was one of the higher cabin's so she made for one of the nearer staff ladders to ascend.

Ϯhierry ティエリー Thierry had been looking up at the foreign vessel and yelped at little when Hard began speaking from behind her. She covered her mouth in an instant, turning around to face the fellow Crew member. At the mention of all non-combatants, she had to wonder if her arrows had simply disappeared. Instead of interrupting him to point this out though, the woman allowed him to finish his thoughts and watched, hand still over mouth as he descended back in to the airship itself.
"'I have a pest to get rid of, and it will not be pleasant,'" Thierry mimicked Hard's voice patterns once he was out of earshot. Men. She wanted to say that it was unfair but objectively, it was not. Besides, he had mentioned to go in after him after ten seconds had passed. She was nearing the opening for the hatch when her ears picked up on movement coming from another ladder but below the deck. Immediately, a hand drew and aligned one of her fine tip arrows with the bow, ready to fire. "Who's there?"

Lucille "Lucy" Cohen
"Who's there?"
Lucy paused; the shout echoing down from another ladder chute. Except...she was at the top of the passenger area. Who is above me? And why are they shouting? She finished the climb out of her ladder chute and ignored the closed doors that lead to the closed cabin's.
"It's Lucy, from Engineering. Who are you?"
And what are you dong up there? Lucy wanted her pistols, or maybe her knife. But alas; those were hanging very neatly in the locker in her bed room, as it was the rule on board. All she had on her was a spanner, which she'd intended to remove the pipe with. Still, she gripped it tightly; anything was a weapon, if you held it right.
[Bah?]

[I think she's worried about the structure of the blimp. I'm not too clear on it myself, so I'm just going to run with it. Personally, I'm a little confused about action order. When did who arrive where? When everything's past tense, chronology sometimes confuses itself. Also: I though Hard was the only marine allowed to carry a weapon?]λȱʌҋɕ ϝɫʘӵʠThe blade of his knife chilled the skin of his forearm as Jack creeped forward as silently as he could. He'd gained entry to the main gondola without being seen (or so he thought), and now was the time to find some important locations one person could take and hold.
Unfortunately, judging from the clamour behind him, he had already been spotted. Jack swore, then turned to face the one who'd eyeballed him. His eyes widened at the sight of a confident, competent-looking man with a mechanical arm. Jack readied his knife for defense, but scrambled for his grappling hook. Jack was competent, very competent, but he adhered to a certain philosophy: unless the odds are massively in your favor, avoid putting your ability to carry your share of the treasure away at risk. If he could grab his hook and make a shot down the corridor, he could widen his lead and—hopefully—escape.

(Hard's the only person allowed a weapon on the bridge. The entire Marine crew has some form of close combat weapon, and a fire arm. Though firearms in the blimp are ill advised I'd imagine.)
AldaHard VonWeitman Hard pulled the combat knife from its sheath and held it loosely eying the boy, for that's what he was compared to him.
"Your captain must have big balls to target the Laterne. I alerted the entire regiment down there, waiting at the bottom of those steps. I'll let you off, here and now. Climb back up that ladder and take your airship elsewhere." Hard used his little speech to take a step closer and he flipped the knife around in a defensive grip.
"Or I can kill you, wait for your crew to come down, have them killed or captured and take that ship and sell it for parts." Hard had taken another step forward and flexed his right arm. The gears whirred softly. Oh yeah now you work.

[Ah, that makes significantly more sense than what I thought the situation was.]

"We're not going to magically survive if I just bail. Balls have nothing to do with it, you're the only pray we've seen in weeks, it's win or die." Jack grinned. He'd found the hilt. "Which is why we're going to win." In a smooth motion, he pulled the grappling rig from its spot, pointed it at the wall behind him, and pulled the trigger. He didn't take his eyes off the marine, but as soon as he felt the pseudo-magnetic connection land with a thump, he pulled the recoil and felt himself jerked to the wall. It would hurt like a sumcuss, but he'd survive and add a full walkway's headstart to his flight through the ship.

Ϯhierry ティエリー Thierry relaxed a little upon hearing the familiar voice of the older woman, the arrow still drawn but lowered definitely. "Sorry about that, Lucy. It's Thierry from Navigation. We seem to have visitors today." Despite being alone, an embarrassed, pink blush crept across her cheeks and nose bridge. Now that she knew that there was safe, there was nothing to distract her from following after Hard through the other hatch. She replaced her equipment and opted to carry the bow in the hands while scurrying down the ladder. More than ten seconds had passed at this point but hopefully, it would not matter. Hard was more seasoned than her for battle anyway. As she descended, voices came up to her: one belonged to Hard and the other was probably that of the foreign boarder. Her feet had just found solid floor when the whizzing of a grappling hook stole her attention. Hard was some feet in front of her and the young man was making an attempt to escape. Within seconds another arrow was drawn but this time released to be caught up in the grappling hook chain and subsequently, a pole or two that woud stop the recoiling action completely. As soon as that one had left her, she pulled another but kept it close to her. Hard's reaction to her little intervention might not be the most pleasant thing in the world but at least, she had foiled the stranger's plans somewhat."Sorry, Hard but I figured that it couldn't help none."
[Actually, that was me being disgruntled at the lack of length in that post but the structure had thrown me off as well so...good guess. Hard lunged forward just as he pulled away. b*****d. He resheathed his knife and knew they were still four decks above the entrance to the ship proper. I have a secret as well. Hard turned a couple knobs and prayed this arm wouldn't fail today. He ran and jumped off the catwalk and the one just below and out came towards him. He would miss by inches, but his fingers stretched and caught. He gripped and the brace compensated with twice the power of a human and he was up. Hard groaned as he rolled on and then got his bearing. The kid was above him, the nearest ladder was twenty feet. Hard sprinted anyways.
