I don't really see WikiLeaks as causing Internet censorship. Amazon has already stopped hosting it, so I read. WikiLeaks is not the problem; the government not being tight enough with their dirty secrets is the problem.

Ever hear of a hacker named Gary McKinnon? Scottish guy with Asperger's syndrome hacked the US military and NASA over a 56k connection looking for evidence of UFOs, anti-gravity, and free energy suppression. He was high on cannabis when he did this. He claims that the machines he accessed were open and unsecured. Gary McKinnon on Wikipedia.

All of a sudden the DoD is surprised that their s**t has leaks?

A list of places that could be of interest to 'terrorists' to attack was posted. (Nuclear plants, large buildings, etc etc)

using the excuse that this places the government and army and people in danger, they're going to try to limit information on the internet..

Saying that it is because of freedom of speech on the internet that other Countries are receiving important information of our governments.

I believe that even without the internet, secrets can still leak and be spread... this is all just hype to try to bullshit the masses into accepting censorship.

You can't censor the Internet. You can try but there is always a way to circumvent it. That's what hacking is all about: Making something do something it wasn't designed to do.

yes they can censor the internet. don't you remember internet version 2? their idea was to have everything you'd post online to be the property of the website you posted to and they can remove it. they want to own sites like facebook/youtube and very few sites would even be accessible. places like gaia would either be "pay to click" or gaia would have to make a deal with them to get listed and moderated.

damn after reading the news articles in the second half of that video, it's hard to tell if wikileaks was a problem reaction solution setup or not, but either way, that's what they're turning it into.

They can turn off the backbones of the Internet but they can't stop it. I doubt they could even censor it. Ask Australia what happens when you try to censor the tubes.

Operation Titstorm is what happens.

Hey, ask Visa, Mastercard, Paypal, Sarah Palin, and the Swedish government what happens when they ******** with Net neutrality.

Of course it is. It's documented that it has ties with George Soros. That said, I think Assange was set up. But it's pretty obvious they will try to use this to censor the web.

Honestly though...all they did is what Journalism SHOULD be doing. Like Ron Paul said. (paraphrased) "When the truth becomes a liability, we are in sad shape"
