He felt so sneaky thinking about doing such a thing, sneaking away from the madame to enjoy what it would be like to live in a happy household.. Though that would be near impossible if she was here..
"Why do people talk bad about your father? I mean.. He doesn't do anything bad... I'm sure of it. " Something about hearing Bai Mei speak so sadly caused his heart to ache.
"Since I'm around her alot more than you are, I'll learn more recipies, okay? And then we can even teach them to your dad! I know.. Um.. Customers always like getting free things like little treats with their.. Ah.. Purchases. Maybe the people who don't think fondly of him would smile from receiving something like a rice cake or a sweet candy along with their art.."

Bai Mei shrugged his shoulder, "If you ask me its jealousy, hes able to create beautiful things with his bare hands that they can't even dream up." He murmured, then looked toward town and sighed, "If you asked them hes a fox pretending to be a man... they have all sorts of cruel rumors about him, even saying that his wife couldn't have children and died because of him." He shook his head in a sad manner.
"It doesn't help I appeared out of no where, they are pretty certain that I am a fox kit now." He gave a sigh at the mere thought before shoving his worries aside as he didn't want to think about it. Instead he listened to the plan that Qiu Shui had and he seemed to think that over, offering little treats along with their purchases, "It might work... I should try that, maybe they would think better of us if I could get him to be more personable instead of hiding away all the time in his workshop." The fact that Jing Lin did such a thing had always worried Bai Mei as he wanted the man to get more fresh air.
"I think it would be worth trying if it would help my Father make some friends." He said, eyes shining at the thought of his father being happy and perhaps finding another wife... not that he would mention that as he didn't want to upset the man. He knew that even now he loved the woman who had passed and he could never hurt him in such a way as to suggest to him to move on. Doing so was something Jing Lin had to do on his own.

"I can understand why they would be frightened... People are terrified of those they do not understand, and those that are unknown. Unfortunately, your father falls into both of the categories." It wasn't a pleasant thing to say, but all in all, it was the truth. Soon enough, they were at the beginning of the path that led back to the main road.
A clothed hand reached out to take Bai Mei's, cupping it between both of his sleeves.
"Even so... You are a wonderful representation of him. If people begin to trust you, then they will see that he is a good teacher. You are kind, and eager to learn, even if it isn't in the best of environments." His teachings got the better of him, and he placed light kisses on each of Bai Mei's knuckles, before gently pulling away. He reached out once more to tilt Bai Mei's head just a little but upwards from under his chin, smiling.
"Stay like that, okay..? Always keep your head tilted up. Even if people don't like you, they will respect you, because you cannot ever find disrespect in one who holds themselves so confidently. Maybe your father can learn something from you that way."

He gave a slow nod of his head, "I suppose your right, it doesn't mean that I have to like it... but I will do what I can to close the gap between my family and the rest of town." He murmured, then gave a happy smile. He was going to do this, was going to figure out how to make his father a better respected man!
Bai Mei gave a jump as Qiu Shui took his hand into both of his and he gave him a smile as he spoke such kind words to him. His cheeks colored as a kiss was pressed to his knuckles. His head was lifted and he gave a shy sort of smile in response to the affection that he got from the dark haired boy, "I will stay like this, promise." He said with a smile, reaching a hand out to Qiu Shui, brushing back a lock of his hair to tuck it behind his ear before he smiled, "Thank you for everything, Qiu Shui. You are a very good friend." He knew it would be hard to keep his head up and to stay confident when the people around him could be so difficult but with friends like Qiu Shui there to cheer him on he believed that it would be possible.
He shifted the pot in his arms as looked over his shoulder toward the direction he had to go in. He didn't want to go, didn't want to leave his friend alone here when it seemed as though he didn't have anyone his age to play with but he knew he couldn't stay. The food would get cold and the scary woman might arrive which wouldn't be good, "I should go... but remember to visit me if you can." He reminded the other boy.

Qiu Shui's cheeks became a rosy sort of red as a hand reached out to tuck his hair behind his ear.
"Thank you Bai Mei.. If only everyone could see me that way, then I would never have to feel sad again!" A sweet smile adorned him as he reached out and turned the other around, giving him a gentle push towards the direction he must go to. With the darkening sky, came the madame. And it was dangerous to be around when the madame returned.
"I'll be sure to come and visit you someday! And even if you aren't home, I'll be more than happy to visit your father! Maybe even teach him how to make something sweet! I'll try to learn something new to make each day, so soon enough, your house will be filled with sweets!" He called out to the retreating back, beaming. With a final wave, he let out a content, yet sad sigh, returning back to the inn, into the world where he belonged.

Bai Mei gave a happy nod of his head as he was nudged forward, looking over his shoulder at Qiu Shui before he gave him a smile and a wave before he turned to hurry forward toward home. He didn't want to be late and now that he had dinner for Jing Lin the man would have one less thing to worry about when it came to his day. He was never happier then this very moment aside from that time when he standing together with Song Tzue and Yoru, but today was almost that same level of happiness.
He disappeared around a corner and was gone from the sight of his friend and in turn Qiu Shui was out of his line of sight as well. He looked over his shoulder once more before he was heading on home.
