"There are people with conditions like that. Do you smoke?" Nate had replied, obviously joking, only to counter her rebellious personality.

She's burning up.. He thought to himself as he felt the heat of her stomach. It must have been through the build-up of her attack. Having concetrated so much must have used up whatever source of energy she used. Not to mention being victim as well to her own attack.

Up close she looked frightening giving her demon appereance and eyes. It only made sense on why Teka had been so panicky when he saw her. Kids like that were still afraid of demons - even in Sanctum. "Half-breed or not I know you aren't foe, other wise you wouldn't have warned me to keep back - so I could only strike you as friendly...disregarding your venomous spit." Of course that was metaphorically.

The way down the stairs was proving difficult even with that assitance she was giving him. She didn't have much to walk with and her injuries would only make them worse no matter how tough she acted. Though he wasn't the best medical assistant he would tend to them. Though he figured that she would fight with it considering he would have to take that cloak of her off. It didn't seem that she had much beneath from what he could see.

"Don't worry. I hate snakes.." He did. "I'll be taking you to my place. Considering the way you think that my 'specifies' would isntantly crucify you I assume that you are new and don't know much about Sanctum. I'll tend to your wounds, then we'll have tea. That sound good?"

(I'll wait until you post once more here then I'll post at Nate's if that's cool with you.)

At his joke Ski growled at him; at the moment finding it irritating, looking back on it she would mentally laugh though. "Course I don't," she snapped. "Even if I did, my body would repair the damage before it even started."

Her demon healing at least was handy for something. Course now she was wishing it was faster as another wave of coughing fits hit Ski. This time as it finished her world was left spinning; the stairs as difficult as they were already becoming more of a challenge. Something thought the thief was willing to face till her last breath like everything else.

The male's voice was distance in her ears, even as close as he was. His words muffled but understandable Ski huffed at them. "Friendly...that's a new one. I thought you were a kid...I didn't need a get a kid's death on my conscious...or lack there of, of one..." she mumbled, turning her head away; trying to find excuses to show that she hadn't really cared when she had.

Hearing that he was offering help, Ski felt the p***k of hopeful build in her burning chest, then she squashed it with fear and hate. Scowling and jerked away, Ski leaned heavily on the wall of the stairs and railing. Forcing her feet to do what she wanted and start her way down the stairs on her own.

"I don't need your help or charity..."
she scowled, fangs barred. "...what makes Sanctum so different from any other crap hole of a town that's run me out. You'll just sell me off to some freak circus or lock me in jail where they'll chain me up like a wild animal!"

The force she was speaking left Ski coughing more, hacking up more blood. Her vision going in and out of focus to the point Ski had to grip the railing to keep from falling.

"Everyone always has a secret agenda...and I'm the one getting the short end of the stick..." Ski was talking too much she noticed, but she couldn't help it. "I've taken care of myself just fine...I only have myself to look out for because no one else will..."

Stop talking Ski...she told herself, taking another step down to have her boot slip, but refraining from falling on her face.

((that sounds good))

It wasn't difficult to figure out what type of person..demon she was. Prideful, and independent. A common trait in most demons, especially the foreign and 'wild' ones.

He was barely able to make out any words that she mumbled out, but the more she did the harder it seemed to pull her down the stairs.

Finally she pulled away from him and treated him once more as the enemy. Unlike her he wasn't so fatigued but he didn't hurt injured people especially women. It was against his..person.

"So you've never heard of Sanctum, I'm assuming." He sighed, and scratched at the back of his head. "Well, you're mistaken for the most part about this place. No one would buy, sell, or trade others. And do I really look like some sick and twisted human? I feel insulted." During his years of teaching in Sanctum he's come across such kinds of demons that resent humans because of how they were treated. It was sad but par to nature.

Despite her tough act and refusal to take assitance he could see in her eyes contemplating thoughts that she alone was fighting with. The eyes revealed all, and hers were revealing uncertainty. Fear.

Having been pushed a few steps down the staircase from when she pulled away, Nate continued up slowly, cautiously with arms open to show he meant no harm. Just like handling a wild animal, though she thought her of nothing of the like despite her appereance.

"Look at you..you need medical treatment and I do have supplies back in my apartment. Let me at least fix you up and then you could decide to leave, but allow me to tend your wounds. I rather not have someone die, especially in front of me." He stepped closer. "I promise you that I hurt you. I. Just. Need. You. To. Trust. Me." He said, quickly rushing up a step to catch her when it looked like she was going to fall.

Will an determination..but her legs can't keep her up. I will have to carry her... He scanned her body, nothing the cuts that tormented her. Without care she could die from her wounds the way she was working her body. If he had to - and though he didn't want to- he would force her to submit. Hopefully it didn't come to that..

When she slipped he was there, catching her; mis-matching eyes burrowing into her. Reading her like she was the most readable book on the planet. Asking her to trust him...he made it sound so easy.

"No...I haven't heard of Sanctum before I came..." she droned at last as Ski turned her face away, though she did not push or back away.

As for his appearance and if he was some twisted human...Ski couldn't see it as he stood so close. He was clean and strong...kind, but that didn't mean anything! Others had been kind to her only to turn on her at the opportune moment. Deep down she really wanted to trust him...but she remembered all the times prier she had been hurt by a gentle smile and kind eyes.

Looking down at herself as he suggested, Ski found that she really was a mess. Blood and sweat...along with soot, dust and scotch marks adorned her body and clothing. But it was the poison raging within that would cause the most problems.

Ski wasn't stupid, she knew she needed some form of medical attention. It was just getting it was the problem.

Thinking on what to, the thief scanned the human's eyes. Searching for any hint of mistrust...secrecy anything to give her reason to not accept his help. And there was none...

Then another bout of coughing came. Harsher and more uncontrollable this time. Blood soon began to flow from her lips once more and Ski's head went reeling. To maintain balance, her hand shot out to brace itself on the stranger's shoulder. Her frame beginning to lean on him as Ski's strength was quickly leaving.

Finally, when the coughs died and she was gasping for breath. Looking up at him with deep onyx eyes, she silently begged him to not harm her; to be honestly trustworthy.

"Fine..." she wheezed. "...I'll go with you..."

So with this stranger's help, she made her way to his apartment.

The flight to the university wasn't a long one, but it was a descant one. When she headed back to the Nest she would be fine and ready to go back to sleep. As a half-demon she didn't need as much sleep, but she needed more then the regular demon at the same time.

However, as she looped around the university, Ski was taking in not just the campus but the damage to a particular part of the school. One portion of it blow to bits; stone crumbling, some of it melted and scorched. There were men working around the area as well, magical orbs giving them light to work by.

Going in for a closer look, Ski landed on a peeked roof. Sitting down on the peek to stare evenly at the group of people examining the wreckage she had reacted. Well it wasn't all her fault...

"If that stupid Spider Demon didn't come along...none of this would have happened,"
she grumbled aloud to herself, staring at the people trying to figure out what happened.

Course thinking about it, if none of this had happened...Ski would never have met Nate.

Sighing, the thief sat and stared at the people gathered across the open space above the courtyard below.

Leap by leap the SSDD followed pursuit keeping from flight in order to keep her energy from being tracked on.

She zip-lined into a tree then arced herself into a graceful flip into a nearby fountain and ducked behind it for cover. The area around the campus was absent other than workers and officials, so being seen by anyone else other than her target didn't matter.

From her back pockets she pulled out an optical glass, rotating the gear around the rim to zoom in close to her target. What are you hiding under that hood? How can someone like that simply walk around? Surely we would have been warned..unless if they mean no harm. She thought, pulling the optics away from her eye before looking back into it. No. No matter the case I have to be alert.

Drawing up a knee, Ski rested a hand lazily upon it. From this distance she could hear what was being said. Nothing of real evidence; most of it just snippets of info. Or lack of information in this case.

It sounded like even the workers that were cleaning up the mess and to do the reconstruction weren't aware or weren't told the whole story. Some believed what the city officials told them what it was. Being the tale of a lightning strike and all that nice jazz. Others had their doubts by the sounds of it; a tale that a sorcerer had come to the city and this was where they appeared.

Ski's opinion on that, was that it was all bullshit.

Another rumor going around that there were two demons fighting it out on the roofs. It wasn't far off which kind of made the thief nervous, but barely and Ski was one to shrug things off pretty easily. But from there it was stupid, the demons fought it out and killed each other...it was a happy thought anyway to comfort those less powerful.

And Tempest Rein was one of her most powerful spells, perhaps the strongest. There were others that may in close ties, and the spells she would come up with in the future as well. But right then Tempest was Ski's trump-card, even if it was one that backfired on her. The massive power was wild and free; much like Ski herself. Every time she used it, it held a mild thrill for her...because that time could be the last time she used it.

"Perhaps I should practice....if I can find the space and solitude to do it..." stated Ski aloud; thinking and talking aloud to herself.

At the same time as that thought though, a spark of electricity burst to life around her hand. Small sparks of aqua blue lightning curling around the lax hand resting on her knee as she watched the workers. They too far away to notice much of anything and to busy as well.

Thoughts of safety of the workers and citizens clouded her mind, sweat already running down her temple the further she watched the her target gaze at the workers. What could she be thinking? From where she stood she couldn't catch a clear glimpse of the target's wrist so she wasn't sure if it was a resident or not. Then again not all of the residents wore it on their wrist.

With each twist of the optics they clicked, and with a quiet hum it allowed a more closer look at the her target's face. Her hair was unnatural, but beautiful. She admired her own flaming red hair but teal was something to be jealous of. Her skin, from what he could see from the person's lips was something of contrast. It made her admire her pale skin.

What are you thinking about?! She's an enemy...or maybe not..Nonetheless, stay alert, Eunice! She berated herself and scanned the rest of her body.

Her eyes widened in fear, and her body froze as the crack of energy encircled the person's hand, and through telepathy spoke to her commander. But there was no response...like always. It must be this person who tore up our telepathic communications. Should I attack? Eunice comtemplated, her heart beating frantically with uncertainty. Surveillance before safety? No. The safety of the residents mattered most. She had to attack!

"STOP!" She yelled in a commanding voice, bursting out from behind the fountain she used from cover and pointed towards the roof where her target hid in. It was farther than she thought; she relied too much on her optics to judge distance. "I won't let you harm anyone!" She yelled, keeping her finger pointed.

The air droned with a robotic charge, marbled of energy accumulating at the finger she was using and spreading a brilliant light around her area to illuminate the night around her. "DIE!"

In several bursts pellets of fire zipped towards Ski's camping site in breakneck speed darting through any and all obstacles like bullet fire, the sound of the attack much like a Gatling gun being fired.

At the sudden voice that split the night air, it brought Ski to a shocking full alertness. The commanding yet feminine voice that was ordering her to stop. The thief's hooded head wiped around to the origin of the voice. Coming from far below her and off to her left on the ground.

Her night vision easily picked up the strangely uniformed girl running at her direction. The fiery red hair easy to pick up in a world of black and gray. From the distance, Ski didn't see anything special about her to hint at how she was able to spot the thief's perch. But it was very clear that this strange girl was after her.

Ski had felt eyes on her for some time today...but was it this girl.

The half-breed really didn't have much time to really think of the why when the girl was yelling at her. Telling her that she wouldn't allow Ski to harm anyone. Who in the hell was she trying to harm? There was no time for questions though as her pointed finger fired off a series of fiery bullets with a loud bang of an invisible gun.

Ski was on her feet instantly. "s**t!" she yelled out.

There was no time to dodge and they would only chase after by the look of things. So it was up to block and destroy. Raising a hand, Ski muttered a series of words mostly demonic with a few elvish words in the mix. By the end of it, an symbolic array formed in front of Ski, glowing an eerie azure-evergreen color. It was a shield, that would block the bullets while with the other hand, Ski who had already unknowingly conjured up a spell of lightning, flung it outward to meet the bullets.

The massive explosion that occurred when the two spells meet shook the building beneath Ski's feet and more then likely the ground as well. The reddish flames tinged with aqua blue, and electricity filled flumes of smoke. Course as much as the thief would have liked to use the explosion as a cover it didn't work like that. The explosion forced part of a flame bullet at the roof she was on. The impact shaking her from her perch and rolling down the tiled roof.

Stone and clay tiles from the roof accompanied Ski's down fall. Rolling down it, she tucked her arms and wings in to keep damaged at a minimum. Her quick reflexes allowed Ski to snatch onto the edge of the roof with one hand. However, the jerk of her fall kept her from getting a strong enough grip and soon the teal colored girl was falling several stories down. Thinking fast, Ski unfurled her bat like wings and it slowed her fall enough that when she did in fact meet the grassy ground, she didn't break anything.

"Oww...." she droned out in a slow angry hiss as she got to her hands and knees. "...that's it, now I'm pissed..." she growled out, pushing herself to her feet, unaware that her hood had fallen back in the fall. Revealing not only her face, but her narrowed onyx eyes and the grayish white horns adorning her head.

Blast by blast Eunice continued her assault, noticing the spark of her flames deflecting off some shield that her target had casted. Undettered she continued to fiery a significant amount while until with an impact both her attacks and lighting streams caused a cluster of smoke to fill the sky and launched flickering mixes of light belong both to her and her target.

A couple of teal spheres of lighting pierced through her attack, bursting the earth around her. He wasn't sure if it was through sloppy aim or from the misdirection from meeting her own attack. Thankfully, however, none had struck her.

Sparks fell down from the sky in a beautiful drizzle of fire with a life of electricity that flailed to their last breath of energy. The roof where she had fired upon was falling apart, clumps of debris clouded her vision and even with her attack illuminated bits he couldn't see where her target went. She sped her pace, now closing the distance between them with flight.

"Where did they go? Damn! Come out, show yourself!" She cried out, flying over the building she had struck before following the path down. "You!" She cried out, flinging a hand over her shoulder while accumulating her energy into the her middle and index finger. But almost immediately the energy faded away as she stared at the what she now knew as a demon.

"..what kind of demon are you?" She asked herself, noticing her curled horns and the wings that most likely saved her freefall. Her eyes as black as the night. Stunned the SSDD member continued to stare, slowly sidestrafing off her path.

The workers that had been investigating the roof were already fleeing, but a low number of others remained and were standing at the edge beside each other, watching what was now unfolding. Though they weren't wearing uniforms the SSDD emblem was branded at the heart of their chest.

Standing now, she stared through the smoke and pieces of debris falling about the courtyard she had fallen into. Looking for the damn woman that pissed her off and attacked her without reasoning or warning.

Ski could hear her cries of outrage and orders for her to show up. Not like she had run away from a stupid weak woman.

"I'm not hiding..." she muttered in an agitated voice.

When the thief didn't run away, the woman found her. Beginning attack that only flickered out like a dieing spark of a flame at the realization of what she was facing. Ski wasn't fazed when the stranger called her a demon...it was always the same.

Ski half smirked at the girl's question; a fang appearing at the corner of her lifted lips. "Well wouldn't you like to know," she droned out in a partial growl. "But I'm not going to tell you."

With that, Ski muttered out another spell. Bringing her hands out before her, the thief conjured up another plasma ball. The curling energy blue and black in color and sizzling sounds filling the air from the amount of energy it held. But unlike before, Ski now split them into a series of smaller spheres of energy.

A smirk adorned Ski's face as the spheres began to circle around her form. But out of nowhere without noticed or notification, they shot out at the redheaded girl. Not hitting her direction, but the ground around her the shock wave it all forcing her to fly back.

"A little payback for earlier," Ski hissed out. "Now all I have to do is knock you from a roof and we're even...unless you want to apologize; I might forgive you."

"Tch. Damned demon.." She muttered. This one's kind she did not recognize, and her energy felt different than a common breeds. It was difficult to mark down. But her personality was nothing any different than a rogue demon.

Little by little, with caution in mind, she was descending to the floor, her eyes fixated and keeping track of the demon's movement without a flaw in her free flight. Calmness was one thing she was taught even in the most crucial of moments. Of course when she had seen the demon's energy circulate around her hand earlier her instincts shot out to attack for the worker's safety. A quick glance towards the rooftop, however, told her that she was not alone. Three other SSDD members were on standby, but this was her fight.

Bit by bit her instincts were crying out of danger as her opponent brought out a second attack. But she had to study the energy type. By the feel of the destructive power she was obviously of a demon breed but the spell itself was too sophistacated for an actual demon. That was as far as she was diagnose.

With little time to think of her safety the power demonstrated to her was released in plural, but she didn't even brace herself for the impact knowing that it was going to miss; She didn't expect it to hit the ground beneath her.

With the repercussions of the attack she was sent flopping around like a windmill in a windy day. Unable to tell directions she curled into a ball and hugged her knees, accumulating her energy through as she blasted off. Before she even hit anything she extended arms and legs and stopped an inch away from a building, her energy a shining gold as it slowly twirled around her.

"You got what you deserved - intending to harm those people on the roof." She declared, pointing her index and middle finger to the sky in the same gesture as before and like before she channeled the energy around her being into a burning blade of red. "So an apology is not needed!"

Spin by spin she whipped out blades of fire around Ski's perimeter in different intervals, the tip of the blades cutting through the ground as they sailed towards the demon. Without a resilient body the blades themselves would cut through the weakest of enemies and burn them until they were ash.

"Deserve!" Ski seethed under her breath.

What bullshit was this!? She had no intention of harming anyone from the very beginning. Who gave this crazy chick the right to judge Ski on what she did. This chick who ever she was, was really starting to piss the thief off! Even more so for the fact that her threat wasn't scaring the girl at all.

The half-breed as enthusiastic she was for fighting, Ski didn't kill people without due cause. Her threat was supposed to scare her away, the girl was too determined though.

"Fine...have it your way..." she hissed out.

With that, Ski prepared for the fiery blade and it's wielder's advance. She wasn't scared and she wasn't worried. This fight would be easy...easier yet if Ski indented to kill her, but unconsciousness would do.

Quick as a flash, Ski was conjuring her own weapon. Swirling to life from ebony shadows that glowed and eerie bluish-violet was a full-length scythe. And the teal colored blade, razor sharp clashed with the fiery blade; undeterred by the flames.

Smirking, Ski shoved the blade away with a swift swing of her scythe. "If your so damn determined to fight me then I hope you're ready for the outcome!"

Without even so much of a hassle her attack was distinguished into harmless bits of embers and flames! Should that trouble her?

Pulling her arms to waist level she slowly circled around the demon beneath her, the rising sun of dusk that rose over the mountains now caused the deadly blade of the weapon to gleam a death glare at her. She swallowed but kept her courage.

"So you count on a weapon for power.." She stated, not at all meaning to insult her opponent. There were those who did not rely on such materialistic things, but for those who did either had great mastery of their weapon or were starting. But a scythe was a midrange weapon. If she could get close she might have a chance of a decisive blow..there was only a complication with that.

Eunice never fought close range..she was a long range caster. She would have to think of another method. With a quick glance she looked over to the row of observers above the school. One of them moved, gesturing that she would be in no real harm. The thought made her smirk darkly, but worried her in the same. So she had to attack.

"Very well! I'm sure you are familiar with this attack: Gatling Flare!" Like the first attack she launched at Ski she pointed a finger down at her, her energy quick to gather at the index finger and fire pellet sized balls in a hail of fire.
