Just to add to that point, it depends on where you live in Canada I think. For example, when I was 17, I was told that I was now able to have doctor-patient privilege, meaning I could ask the doctor for something or tell her something, and unless my life was in danger (I had HIV, I was suicidal, etc) they wouldn't tell my parents.
I'm not sure if 17 is the age for all of Canada, or just BC. But I thought I'd mention it. 3nodding
Although as Yukito Yu said, to my knowledge there is no age restriction on buying things like condoms or lube. I bought condoms when I was 16 or 17, and I've had no hassle with it.

eek Really? I'm not sure if that applies to Ontario.. My parents always promised me that it would be confidental anyways (not that it mattered, I went with my mother to get my pill perscription. That's just how we are in my family.)
I'll look into that when I get back from my course today.
Ah ok. Well my old doctor told me it was 17, so I guess it's BC only. I went by myself to get a prescription for the Pill when I was 17, so that's how I was able to get it.
I switched to Depo at 18, and I was also able to get a prescription for it by myself at my age. Both times, the doctor has kept the prescriptions confidential, so my parents don't know.
