She peeked over at the house, her eyes growing wide. "Its so big!" Trying to quell her enthusiasm a bit she followed him. "Why would I make fun of the name? It sounds romantic. Or like it was from a fantasy book!" With a bounce to her step she continued on, imagining all the fantastic stories that might take place in the orchard. Epic heroes finding damsels in distress. "Thank you again for being so nice Trey! I really appreciate it."

Trey took a moment to think on Vynn's words. In his mind, the name of the orchid was rather silly because the moon was only out for half of a day, and at that the trees did not get any energy from it. The whole thing seemed illogical, but Vynn's point of view made Trey realize that not everything was logical.
"It's nothing, but you're welcome," Trey said with a kind smile back at her. It did not take too long for them to arrive at the house, and when they did Trey held the door open for Vynn. "Come on in."

[Didn't realize you had replied!]
She thanked him again as he held open the door, taking the time to wipe the dirt from her paws before she walked inside. Once inside she looked around admiring the inside of the house. "You said you live with others right? Are they family?" She waited patiently for him, trying to keep up a light conversation in the meantime. She shifted, suddenly feeling a bit shy. Meeting new people was one thing, but being inside a house that she wasn't familiar was altogether another.

[It's okay. ^w^] Trey followed Vynn in and closed the door behind them. The entrance hall was narrow, but Trey shifted so they could stand near each other. "Ah, while I live with them they are not family. My family lives futher north. I wanted to live closer to my friend, though, but ended up here." He laughed, a hallow sound, before moving further into the house.
At the first doorway on the left, Trey indicated they should go in. "We should find a map somewhere in the living room." He turned around to look at his guest at noticed her unease. "No need to worry," Trey started, "I think everyone is busy elsewhere today."

"Do you visit them often? Your family I mean." She followed him down the hall a bit before turning into the room he indicated. Once inside the room she moved away to give him room to locate the map. She smiled gratefully as he tried to comfort her unease. "So what are the people you live with like?" She paused before starting up again. "And what do you mean 'ended up here'? Were you wanting to live somewhere else?"

"I probably should," Trey mummbled, looking ashamed. "Sadly, I haven't really found the time to head their way. But maybe I will soon." He headed toward the coffe table in the middle of the room, going around the awkwardly placed couch and love-seat.
"The three ladies that I am most aquanted with are a bit ecentric in their ways. They're kind, though, and would never harm anyone. Then there is a son of the oddest of the girls who seems to be a bit moody lately so we're all giving him his space." Trey shifted papers, some slipping to the floor, as he inspected each. "There's another girl but she keeps to herself, the shy sort, and one other guy who likes to.." Trey looked up at Vynn before his cheeks suddenly tinted pink, "uh, 'chase tail', as he calls it." He coughed uneasily before turning his attentions to the baskets stored under the table, hoping to hide his face from his guest.
"What?" Trey quickly glanced at Vynn, his face turning redder, but went back to his investigations just as fast. "Oh, well... I actually wanted to live with my friend, but she... sort of ran off." A heartless laugh was forced from his lips as he lifted up a thickly folded up piece of paper. "Found it."

"I couldn't imagine going very long without seeing my family. They're really special to me. You're really brave to be out on your own like that." She looked around the room for anything that looked like a map, though not very carefully. She didn't want to disturb anyone's private things. She listened with growing interest as he described the people he lived with. "Sounds complicated, like a good tv drama! It must be so much fun. And I bet you don't get bored very often." She turned a light shade of pink at the mention of 'chasing tail' however.
She frowned, regretting having asked now. She hadn't meant to bring up such a sensitive subject. "I'm sorry. That's terrible." Ignoring the map she walked over and nuzzled against him. Her mother had always done the same to her when she was feeling sad, so she hoped it would make him feel better like it did her.

Trey had started unfolding the map on the top of the coffe table when Vynn had come over and nuzzled him. His first instinct was the flinch, but his body had not moved far. It had just come as a surprise and Trey was not used to close intimate contact with others anymore. However the gesture reminded him of the sisters he lived with and how they comforted the youngest when she had cried over a date gone wrong.
"T-thanks," Trey muttered turning his still blushing face away from hers. He didn't like being vulnurable in front of others, but he had let his story slip and had to deal with the pity. "Even more of a reason to check in with my family, I suppose." Another laugh was issued forth, but held just a bit more warmth than the one before.
"Now, um, shall we consult the map?" Trey's face now back to it's normal brown, he allowed himself to look back at Vynn. He offered her a small smile of thanks before turning his attention to the map before them. It was easy to tell that the map was hand-made, but by someone of great skill. Things were drawn to scale expertly but had doodles to explain dangers and name-sakes. If it had been done in crayon, it would have been comical.

She jumped a bit as he flinched, worried that she had done something wrong. She had never seen anyone react to a comforting nuzzle like that. "You should. The only thing better than friends is family. And they'll always be there for you." She smiled and moved back to give him his personal space again. She didn't want to make him any more uncomfortable than she already had. "I didn't mean to pry. Sorry." She turned her attention to the map, marveling over the skill and attention to detail that had been put into it. She leaned a bit closer, catching sight of things that looked familiar from her stroll. Finally she laughed. "I didn't come as far as I thought!" She motioned to a spot on the map, not to far from where the orchard was. "That's my area there."

It was not hard to tell that Vynn had been surprised by Trey's own involuntary action. He felt bad for scaring her, if he had, but soon her own words of apology. "It's fine," Trey said shaking his head as he spoke. "I'm just embarresed to admit to my misconceptions."
He watched Vynn as she viewed the map, wondering if she could figure out the markers. Trey himself often found the odd points of interest to be more distracting than helpful. Then Vynn pointed out where she was supposed to be and Trey felt relieved. It was even better that they were not far from her destination.
"That's great," Trey said with a genuine smile. He looked over at his new friend before speaking hesitantly. "Do you think you can get there on your own... or would you like me to accompany you?" Slowly he folded up the map before holding it out to Vynn. "You may also take this, if you want. I believe we have at least three more somewhere else in this house."

[0.o I swear I already replied....I remember typing this exact post before....]
"There's nothing to be embarrassed about. Things like that are what make you....well....you! Its what shaped you into being who you are. You should be sort of proud of it. At the very least you should embrace it!" She bounced at the last word as if to emphasize her point. She laughed and tilted her head to think for a while. "I'd enjoy the company on my way back, but I really should hurry home. My sister is supposed to be visiting me this afternoon and I don't want to worry her." She took the map gratefully, tucking it carefully away before continuing. "I think I'll be alright on my own."
She turned to leave before pausing. Suddenly she spun around and frowned. "How will I get in touch with you so we can meet up again?"

Trey nodded as he slowly got up from the floor. He moved as if to follow his guest out, but she stopped short and turned to him. He gave Vynn's question a moment's contemplation before remembering the telephone.
"Oh! Here, I'll write down our number." He moved back to the coffee table and grabbed up a pen and notebook that had been tossed about earlier. A quick scribbling of numbers, ones he had previously thought useless to learn, before handing ripping out the page and folding it up.
Trey headed back to Vynn and held out the page. "If you don't have a phone yourself, I'm sure a local store will have one you can use," he said with a soft smile. "And there's always the possibility of finding me out amongst the trees again."
