And then, he thought, and then . . . and now . . . Now he was a mom-killer, which was maybe why his mom wasn't around in the beginning, and why dad left, and why he probably had no siblings ever, and why he was blind in the first place, and why he was aways moved about from home to home and put in those cages, and the collar and - Oh God, it was his punishment!
He wanted to say he didn't want that being the same for Mama's kittens, but in reality he just didn't want them around period. It'd be more noise, more stress, less time in Mama's lap, having to share everything . . . And maybe they wouldn't like him anyway. Maybe that's why Mama Ara was squeezing him so tightly and starting to cry, because she secretly knew it too and didn't know how to stop it. Maybe she was only acting happy.
One thing was for sure: Elijah didn't want to talk about it at all. He was already feeling horrible enough for thinking so badly of the kittens. If he told them what he thought . . . If Mama and Papa really knew what he thought about those kittens, maybe they wouldn't want him to be their first son anymore. Or a son at all! No good son would want a mother's kittens to never happen. He was bad, so bad that he couldn't open his mouth at first. Only when the kitten was able to wriggle a bit for breathing room did he hastily wipe at his eyes with his shoulders, sniffling.
"N-Nothing . . . I-I've nev-ver had . . ." He couldn't seem to spit it out correctly, stammering, and lowered his head. "S-S-Sorry," he eventually managed, defaulting to the apology. Why did he act like he did? He was only making things worse.

Ara looked at her son. She brushed the tears from his face and nuzzled his cheeks softly. "Little one please talk to me. Please. I am so sorry we didn't tell you we were trying before now. To let you know that we were going to be adding to the family. Im sorry your upset about this. We really wont love you less! We'll love all our babies. You will always be my big boy." she said stroking his face. She looked at Morph and nuzzled his neck a little. "Morph..." She said as she nuzzled him and cried. She had hurt her little Elijah! The first thing she had loved as much as she loved Morph and her brother! She sniffled as she held elijah close and looked back at him. "Everything will be fine. Mama is never going to leave you."

Morph looked back into her eyes as Ara glanced over and nuzzled into him. Giving her a small reassuring smile, he slid his hand down to her side, holding her gently and giving her a tiny squeeze while she held Elijah. Looking down at his adopted son, Morph exhaled calmly, radiating a calm atmosphere, trying to give Elijah something peaceful to hold on to. “Just take your time, Elijah. This is very new for all of us.” Glancing over at Ara, he continued. “How about this: let’s all take deep breaths, maybe eat something before the eggs get cold,” Morph smiled slightly, “And we’ll talk about this. Nothing big, no hard conversations; it’s too early in the morning for that. Just what we’re comfortable with, okay? Come on,” He reached out and touched the young Toyger’s shoulder gently. “Do you want anything on your toast, Elijah? Jelly? Jam? Butter?”
Morph didn't want to ignore the issue, or put it away, but everyone needed to calm down and take a deep breath. Doing something else for a moment might help everyone to start breathing normally at the very least; it's a little difficult to cry and eat at the same time. Morph hoped that Elijah would feel comfortable enough with them, or at least with Ara, to honestly tell them what was wrong, or confide at least some part. Morph would help and comfort as much as he could, and maybe he and Elijah could bridge the gap between them a little more.
Smiling gently, Morph kissed Ara lightly on her forehead, giving her another gentle hug. Then he got up and bustled over to his seat on the other side of the table, sitting down and dishing out eggs for all of them, giving them the slices of toast and getting up to get the two slices that hand popped up while he was out of the kitchen. Fetching the new pieces of toast, various spreads and a knife for the fruit, he moved back to the table, smiling at the two of them. He set the toast down and started slicing the fruit, looking at them expectantly. “I’m not going to be able to eat all of this myself, you know.” He said, a smile on his lips.

But he didn't want to talk about it anymore! Look at him! Look at Mama! Obviously it was a horrible subject to be talking about, especially early in the morning like this - Jesus, he'd only just woke up! No-one should be crying when they haven't eaten breakfast yet. Shamed by his attitude in front of them (Papa especially, who was somehow maintaining his cool this whole time), Elijah wiped at his face several times, sniffling as he got Mama's skirts more wet.
Food. Yeah, they all just needed to eat some more, that's all. Maybe food would make the mall feel better. His stomach rumbled in agreement as he smelled the fresh fruits after a while, the mucus needing some minutes to clear out. "Butter," he answered after he calmed down some, resisting the urge to lick his lips. Maybe, just maybe, he wouldn't have to talk if he kept putting food in his mouth - and if he took long enough, maybe they'd just decide not to poke him more. He didn't like poking, as much as he didn't like the idea of prodding someone else too much. Yeah. Just wanting to move along from that embarrassing episode.
"W-We, um, gonna do n'thing today?" Elijah prompted, trying to move the conversation along.

Ara looked at her love, her best friend, the father to the children that she had growing inside her. She smiled at how calm he was being and how easily he was getting this to calm down and move on so that they could eat. He was right, food was good...and she wanted to eat something. She smiled and looked at the food. "It all does look really good." she said as she set Elijah in the chair next to hers and put some food on her plate and on his as morph got his toast ready. She smiled at them and looked at Elijah as he asked if they were going to be doing something today.
She looked at morph and smiled, remembering that he had said he told his mother about them trying for kittens. "Should we go tell your parents whats happened? We can bring Elijah with so they can meet him and he can meet his grandparents." She said with a smile. "Would you like to meet papa Morphs mom and dad today?" she asked with a smile as she took a bite of the eggs and groaned at how good they tasted. "Oh Morph these are really good! I didnt know how hungry i was." she said as she ate happily.

Morph finished slicing the fruit, giving Elijah some apple slices and a few other fruit bits to try, then he buttered one of the fresh pieces of toast, swapping it with the piece he had given Elijah. “Butter it is.” He said, smiling warmly at the young toyger. When Elijah asked what they had planned for that day he looked up at Aranyani who was looking at him. “I think they’d like that.” He replied softly, returning her smile. As she turned to their adopted son to ask how he felt about meeting his grandparents, Morph watched him concernedly. Elijah was still getting used to meeting other people. He had spent a day with Mirelle a while ago and that hadn’t gone too badly, and this time they would be with him, so maybe that would help. But the fact that the kits would be brought up again made Morph a little worried. He would like to have Elijah okay with it before they started spreading it more, even if it was to his parents. It wouldn’t do at all to over look the young boy’s feelings. Still mulling this over, he glanced at Ara and grinned, chuckling happily in spite of his sober thoughts at her reaction to his cooking. “Here;” He said, switching her toast with the other new piece. “No cold toast for you two.” He placed the swapped pieces on their plate and set them aside, still smiling slightly.
Morph looked back at Elijah, observing him again with care in his eyes. Morph’s own childhood and adolescence had been fraught with so much turmoil and fuss. He had let go off the negative feelings he had about it, but he still felt the ghost of guilt from time to time about how he had disappeared for long stretches of time, distracted in his own life. He wanted his own children, Elijah and the unknown kits, to have a better childhood then that, and he would do everything in his power to make it so. He still hadn’t served himself and he continued to gaze at Elijah, mild worry creasing his brow slightly.

He felt Morph's gaze upon him like a guilty weight and sought to alleviate it however he could. Once the never-cold toast was served, Elijah nosed for it and began to voraciously eat it along with the eggs and fruit. Normally timid even when eating, this was a sign of his nervousness at the mention of more family. After all, he had been more than content to have a mom in the beginning; the dad was an extra perk. But then Morpheus's surrogate mother came in, and that was an odd experience since the kitten had been alone while doing so.
Now they were talking about blood relatives! How many more were there? Would they all greet him as warmly? What if they didn't? Were there any his age, or were they all old? Would they ask a lot of questions about what had happened to him, or why he was blind, or why he had those funny things on his back? Mama Ara had only said grandparents, but Elijah saw many, many others . . .
He merely bobbed his head a little to reply, more fixated on filling his belly then looking up and returning either of their gazes.
