Miko put the stones into her bag. It was good to have some company on this dark path. Heliosyne seemed like an intersting companion as well.
"A few day journey will give me time to work on your necklace Cyranis." She smiled.
At least her first impressions of the Di'Taki had been friendly ones, she was already learning more about this race, she still had much to learn about the Adahy, but the adventure excited her, and she wasn't doing much else in the human camp besides making jewelery. Who know what she would encounter with her two guides as they traveled deeper into the forest. The sun was beginning to go down. But Cyranis's feathers lit up the path behind him. A blue glow which Heliosyne darted in and out from, her own feathers giving off a luminescent orange and yellow. What colorful new friends she had.
"Um Cyranis? Can you see ok up there it's getting rather dark?"

The average day for Goldmoss was depressingly less than interesting. He usually just wandered with light-footed easiness in and out of the deep parts of the forest, creatively avoiding the nastier of his fellow Di'taki. Unfortunately, they could be a whole lot of avoiding, and very little fun.
However, as he planned to go about his normal routine, Goldmoss found that today would be slightly more interesting. First of all, with the nearing glow festival, he found that some of the rocks cast a ghoulish glow upon the shadowed woods. Second, he could smell adahy, and below that scent, there was a more human scent. He knew humans from brief glimpses. They smelled... unhealthy. Like sick prey.
The most unusual part of today, was currently taking place. He tilted his head slightly. There were voices. Two di'taki, a male and female from what he could make out, and something slightly harder to understand. Sharper sounds escaped this creature. Not only was he smelling humans, he was hearing them too.
Quietly he paced toward the origin on the voices and spied. That was, until the glowing rocks came into view. These ones were beautiful. He hadn't seen such a color before. Before thinking, he'd emerged from the bush. "Where'd you find those?

Cyranis' feathers puffed out as the other male came into sight. He hadn't even noticed his scent on the wind, he'd been so caught up in the beauty of the stones. He did not recognize this newcomer, though he...appeared friendly. The Di'taki continued walking, slowing his pace slightly. "Yes, I can see fine."
Heliosyne wasn't so uninterested in the new guest. She bounced towards him, keeping her distance for a moment before finally creeping up to try and sniff at his shoulder feathers. Another pretty male! Today was a lovely day. She paid no heed to other's space or to the fact that he may not be friendly - it was just another acquaintance to her.

Miko hadn't realized that her pack had also been glowing from the rocks just as brightly as Cyranis's feathers. Another Di'Taki! and another male! Miko began to get nervous. They were all so curious, but Miko still wasn't sure if the newcomer would attack or not. She had seen Cyranis's feathers puff out, and wondered if they would start to attack each other. She kept a firm grasp on her blade even though her two recent companions were friendly, she could never be sure being the only human around. She took off her pack and set it on the ground for the other to look at, keeping her eye on him.
"Sorry, I actually found these particular stones, near where my two companions here were traveling. However, I'm sure if you look around yourself you will be sure to find some of your own. I can even look for you, I'm a little smaller and can get into and under more things." She smiled up at him and nodded.
She looked at Cyranis out of the corner of her eye for some sort of cue of how the Di'Taki greeted each other.
"We are on our way to the deep woods, are you traveling there yourself? You are quite close to the hatchery and it is unwise for males to be around there, unless perhaps you are stealing an egg?"

The female momentarily distracted him, and he tilted his head so far that his stalagmite like horns were nearly parallel with the ground. He moved to she was able to get at his feathers, though he was careful to strategically distance them from her tongue, then he inhaled deeply. He could tell this female spent most of her time deep in the woods. He could smell it on her. She didn't seem like the rough sort, however.
But, when the human spoke and the bag was accessible, he lost some interest in her and bent his head to sniff at the cloth instead. "I will have to look. I've not seen this color before."
A bubbling, disbelieving, bark of a laugh left his throat. "Are all you humans just children? I'm aware of the hatchery, and I do not steal eggs. No nurturing mother has a thing to fear from me. Or most in these parts, for that matter." He began to walk with the other two di'taki, very little concern for whether they cared to have him there or not evident on his features. "Besides, Adahy are too stringy, especially when they're unborn." His lower set of eyes blinked jokingly, but the signal was likely to be unknown to a creature with only two eyes.

The female cooed to the stranger Di'taki, walking along beside him curiously. She began to keep a more appropriate distance now, for reasons unknown. "Name?" She momentarily dropped her rock upon speaking - she'd forgotten that she'd been carrying it at all. Quickly Heliosyne scooped it back up, then returned to the side of the strange troop heading through the darkening forest. By now, her stripe's luminescence had reached its peak - which was, barely visible.
Cyranis' feathers were bright enough to light the edges of the road along side him, although ahead was a dark mystery. Tilting his head to the other male, he nodded. "I am Cyranis, this dolt is Heliosyne, and the human is Miko." He hadn't been called upon to introduce the group, but since Heliosyne had asked, he might as well answer. He paced along to Heliosyne's far side, putting her between himself and the stranger. Unlike the human, this one could be a threat if he wanted to be.

Miko could not believe herself, were all those myths the she had heard about the vicious Di'Taki untrue? This one before her had even expressed compassion toward an Adahy mother. Even Adahy males were known to sometimes sneak into the hatchery, and this Di'Taki scoffed the idea. Miko was learning a lot about this race, and it was nothing like she had expected.
Closing up her bag in relief that the other Di'Taki was not so fond of precious stones, she was unsure how much jewelry she could make, and she wanted to save some of the stones for the elders, as an offering of friendship and peace.
Still, the only Di'Taki who had so far taken a more friendly approach to her was Heliosyne. This new male especially seemed to more or less dislike her more than she disliked him. Backing up slowly she came closer to Cyranis, not too close but just enough safe distance away from the male Di'Taki.
Surprised that Cyranis had introduced them all to the other Miko bowed and waited but did not say a word.

Goldmoss couldn't say he felt any regret for making the human uneasy. She needed to be uneasy. She needed to be aware of her surroundings. She was in Di'taki lands, and she was in for more than a single huge surprise. He strode beside the female and dipped his head.
"I'm Goldmoss. It's a pleasure to meet you all. Miko..." The humans name rolled from hs tongue as he watched her walk. "You do realize that the direction we head... toward the Deep Woods... is unrecommended, yes?"

Suddenly, Heliosyne bounded forward, chasing a glowbug that had come up from the grass down the path. Pretty glowy thing! Cyranis watched her carefully, shaking his head a bit. One of these days, she was going to get her face mauled off by a forest creature. It was just a matter of when. His ears twitched a bit, making it clear that he was listening to the ongoing conversation between Goldmoss and Miko. "I'm sure that if we stay in. a. pack," he hissed pointedly as Heliosyne returned to his side, "That no one will bother us. A loner, yes, but a whole group?"
Truth was, he was lying. If another Di'taki showed up and attacked, Heliosyne would cry and hide, Cyranis would probably get hit in the face and cry as hard as the female, and then the human would be Di'taki food. But he wanted that necklace, dang it!

Miko followed behind the group, quietly stringing the stones together for Cyranis's necklace. It was taking her more quickly than she had expected which was good considering she didn't know what other Di'Taki would come up next. She turned to Goldmoss in answer of his question. "I do know it is not safe to travel down this path, to the deep woods, especially for a human and alone. I grew up knowing some of the Adahy and listening to their stories of you the Di'Taki. I had never seen one until I meet Heliosyne and Cyranis. I had heard that the Di'Taki are violent and hostile creatures. Ready to kill without reason, dangerous. However, I had always wondered if your race is in fact so dangerous why then do the Adahy make this journey down the same path we travel on to deliver the eggs of the Di'Taki to the elders? I know they would never kill a living being but to not accept them is almost the same in my understanding. I am traveling to your lands to see what the Di'Taki are like, to bring back some of my own stories to tell. I do not think I can bridge the gap between the two races, but at least I will have my own understanding, and not a story or perception of something given to me as a child. I may never come back, and that would prove to the Adahy that they are right and their stories are true. I accept that fate, I travel this path for my own reasons, and my own reasons alone. She finished her explanation, which was long. Just long enough that she had in fact finished the necklace for Cyranis. "Cyranis," she called up to him. "Look!" She held the necklace up high so he could see it glimmering and glowing, she hoped he liked it. i don't know why he's so big lol here's link: http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/ww167/blackforestshop/Cyranisjeweledit.png

Cyranis ogled at the necklace, letting his jaw drop. For a moment he almost looked like Heliosyne, but he quickly recovered his dignity, calmly sticking his head in the necklace. Keep calm, keep calm...Though he tried to curb his enthusiasm, the male couldn't help the stupid grin on his face. Oh, how he loved rocks. And he could take these with him wherever he went!
"Thank you." He nodded the human's way, then set about to awkwardly counting the beads. He would need to update the count when he got home.
Heliosyne sniffed at the beads around her companion's neck, delighted to have more things that glowed. Anything new that was pretty and shiny was a plus.
Turning his head towards Goldmoss, the male uttered, "Are all humans like this?
(Hee~! Thank you. heart

Miko was pleased as she carefully put the necklace around Cyranis, staying clear of his sharp claws and teeth. One of his feathers brushed her hand as she slipped it around his neck. They were very soft and fluffy. She liked how it felt but got her hand out of there quickly.
"I hope you enjoy it," she smiled at him and took her place behind the group. She liked her new found companions and she hoped that the rest of the Di'Taki she would meet would be like they were. At least she could have this moment of happiness.
She didn't know however, the Di'Taki of the deep woods had never seen humans before that she heard of. Suddenly she felt a bit scared. She couldn't be the first human to travel into the Di'Taki lands, but she had never heard stories from her elders about humans who had.
Shaking off her fear she trotted up closer to the group, trying to walk beside Heliosyne, but she kept darting all around. This way and that.
"Are you looking for something?" she asked her.

Arya had been doing what typical young aggressive male Di'Taki would do on any day in the deep woods. Run, claw trees, chase after salocks, and find other males to wrestle or fight with. He had done the first three things on his list, now to find someone to play with. Running along the path at his leisure, he heard something up ahead. Skidding to a stop he quickly ducked into the nearby trees. Crouching low to the ground he listened and waited.
He heard a few voices. Two clearly a Di'Taki male, the other female, but the other he had never heard before. Either way two males in which to have a scuffle with was more to make his day. He waited as the strangers came into view.
Waiting until the two males were closer he pounced out from the trees. Up on his back feet he lashed out with his front claws at the other two males. A deep growl came from his throat, and he snapped his teeth.
"Ready for a fight are you?" He sprung at them, not paying attention to the female or the other...thing.

Goldmoss was quiet for a long time as Cyranis received the stones and admired them. Beautiful stones... He'd have to find some. Perhaps he'd spend the next few days collecting different colors.
At the male's question he chuckled softly. "I think Miko could answer that quite accurately. No, they are not. From what I've seen, our friend here is of the better kind. There are many like her, yes, but there are some that put our darkest legends to shame." He shrugged. "Or so I've heard. The most I've dealt with is a minor annoyance."
A rustle from the bushes had him turned and bristling in a matter of seconds. As the tan male emerged he opened his jaws wide with a guttural hiss, stepping forward defensively. In a matter of seconds he'd gone from relaxed and composed to all fighter. His feathers stood up, making him look bigger, and his mouth remained ajar, occasionally releasing softer hisses. He barely heard what the male said. He was in defensive mode.

Without hesitation, Heliosyne replied, "Glowbugs!" Try though she might, though, she couldn't find many along the road. Someone had probably eaten them all already. After awhile she returned to the human's side, panting and worn out from all of her aimless darting. She was just about to say something when -
"Ready for a fight are you?"
Seeing the stranger suddenly leap from the brush, she whined loudly and grabbed Miko by the back of her garments, tugging on her gently. She was scared, and she didn't want to be here!
Prior to the vicious Di'taki's appearance, Cyranis had been considering Goldmoss' statement. For all of the things the Adahy said about their mutant cousins, there were worse things said about humans? Like what? What could possibly be worse than being stereotyped as a blood-thirsty killer?
Oh, wait. Actually being a blood-thirsty killer.
The tan Di'taki very much took him by surprise - by the time Cyranis realized what was going on, he was watching the male's ivory claws swipe inches from his face. Yelping, he dodged backward, narrowly avoiding getting his sensitive maw slashed. His feathers stuck out just as much as Goldmoss', but for a different reason. He was terrified. The bio-luminescent Di'taki had never been much of a fighter, and a situation like this was generally one where he would run as fast as he could. But seeing the other male take a stand, the black-pelted mutant steeled his nerve, creeping up beside his companion.
"Back off!" he shrieked, flashing his teeth in warning.
