"I will!" Zurione beamed happily at Nia, shaking out her fur. Seeing how it stood out in damp matts, she frowned and started licking her shoulder to smooth it out. Mommy never let herself look so ruffled! She would have sat and given herself a whole bath had something not suddenly brushed around her legs. Freezing, one paw in front of her nose, her eyes slid down to her submerged half. Her voice came out in a weak whisper of worry. "Mommy?" When she was brushed again she shrieked and jumped in the air, spinning to see what was stealthing beneath the water's surface. No, she was a brave girl! She was a brave gi-! She saw a couple shadowy forms slip past her legs. Brave like mommy! Growling loudly, she leapt onto the shadows, making contact with something thin and slippery. The hunt was on!

"Alright." Nia smiled at her daughter before relaxing in the water. Compared to a hunt under the hot sun, this was much better. Though in the night she definitely prefered the hunt. The leopardess shook herself otu of her sleepy thoughts to look over at Zurione. Was she okay? Nia about shot forward towards her cub before seeing the change in Zurione's behavior. What was she doing? Nia grinned and shook her head with faint amusement. Was she fishing?

Crouching down as much as she could in water that was already fairly high, she dipped into the river up to her chin, eyes wide and at alert. The shadows had vanished after her first jump, and nothing had touched her since. However, she was determined to "unmask" the little monsters in the water. There! Was that a shadow moster? With a kitten roar, she leapt again, jaws open to catch the shadow. Her paws touched another slippery thing, but a mouthful of water made her scramble for the shore, coughing and sputtering for air. Ears dipping down in defeat, she turned and looked woefully at the river, searching for another shadow as she coughed the last of the water up. Suddenly, she remembered she was with Nia. "Mommy!" She yelped, bouncing a couple paces along the shore. "Look out for the shadow monsters! They sneaky!"

Nia watched her daughter with amusement. So she was fishing. Zurione's comment about the shadow monsters made the leopardess laugh, "Oh really? I better be extra careful then." She stood and shook the water from her fur before looking towards the shore, "Should I try to catch one too or leave them be?" She asked the cub playfully.

Taking this shadow monster business very seriously, she looked at the water uncertainly. Those shadows were sneaky... but this was mommy! Nothing could hurt mommy! Grinning at the brilliance of it all, she nodded enthusiastically to Nia. "You show them, mommy! Get one!" She yipped, bouncing around before standing at attention along the shore, eyes alert as she thought herself as a guard, watching Nia's back while Nia hunted.
