"I would not quiet call it a way out." Lennox spoke as he stopped at a door. There was dust on the handle, and that made his tail flick with a sense of hopefulness. Placing his hand on the handle he quietly turned it. "The courtyard is very large. There are tree's and grass up there. There even looks to be a caretakers hut, but I'd suggest staying away from it. Anything that looks like the staff may have regular access too can be extremely dangerous." Pushing the door open, Lennox gave a faint low whistle at the sight of a slightly trashed room.

"It seems coming down a level was a good choice on our part." He murmured as he pushed the door open as far as it would go. "Perhaps this rare scavenging trip will be a good one for you then." He spoke to her over his shoulder as he scanned the interior for any possibly hiding threats. As he felt that the way was safe, he very carefully picked his way into the room on his bare tip toes.

He could not help the faint smile that pulled at his lips as Revi would grow a bit animated over the whole performing topic. "I never said it would not be fun. It just seems to be a general assumption that any man who performs in Theater is gay. Daniel likes to tease me a lot about it. I do not mind anymore though, it makes him smile and that is worth the ribbing." As Lennox made his way into the room, he paused for a moment as Revi would reach out and almost touch him. His eyes dropped to where her hand lingered, and he watched her tracing the air over the rainbow markings on him.

"Daniel is not a hater of performers. He is just trying to find something to laugh about while trapped here. He really is not that bad. I am sure if you met him, you would find him to be very nice." Lennox found himself distracted from the potential search of the room though by the strange and thoughtful question. he reached a hand up to lightly twist a lock of red hair around his finger as he considered his answer.

"Bullied... no. I was not. I was...just never really noticeable as a child."

"Wow, I never thought that anything could actually grow in a place like this. Well, no... are the trees and grass actually alive or are they all withered and crap like some kind of haunted mansion? Caretakers hut, huh? I'll keep that tidbit of info in mind..." She peered over Lennox's shoulder into the room and quirked an eyebrow, "Huh."

Shrugging halfheartedly at him, she quietly shuffled into the room making sure not to step on anything, "Eh, I dunno really. Unless I can keep whatever I happen to mind on me, then it's not too safe." She hesitated for a moment before continuing, "My room's lock is broken... or maybe I'm just doin' it wrong." She chuckled softly and waved off the idea while looking around at the room for anything immediately interesting.

"I don't understand why. Acting is useful, isn't it?" Frowning a bit at Lennox she placed both hands on her hips, "But... it's not... it's not good to get a laugh at the expense of others. Mm hm, that's what Leader would say, I'm sure of it," she gave a hard nod as if to confirm it. "Of course, he was always much more eloquent than me an' stuff."

"Eh, I don't know... he doesn't sound very pleasant to me. Unless," her face brightened up, "he's short and adorable and youn - wait no. He teases you, friendly or not, it doesn't matter, even if he was a child he seems like the kind that would - no. Eh, whatever, forget about it." She turned around sharply on her heel and crouched down to begin poking around at some of the garbage on the ground.

Revi's shoulders seemed to slump forward a fraction of an inch as she sighed softly, "Oh. I see. That's...good."

"Oh. They are very much alive." Lennox spoke as he gently moved some ruined bits of wood aside. He looked at the splintered pieces as he considered if there could be a use for them. When Revi spoke of the broken lock, Lennox's tail twitched a bit. He glanced up at the girl from where he knelt.

"Well that's not good. If you do not have a room mate to help protect yourself, and your door does not lock...you could be setting yourself up for some sort of trouble. Not all of the rooms here have broken locks. In fact there are some with working toilets and showers. If you like we could hunt for a room like that for you. I'll even help you move anything you want from your room." He offered before glancing back down before him.

"Acting is useful." Lennox spoke while picking up and giving a single sock a strange look. Turning it inside out, he wiggled his hand against the material to test the strength. "But I disagree a bit at the laughter. Even if it is at the expense of another, it depends on the person who is laughing. Say for instance. you and a friend are together, and the chair your friend on suddenly breaks a leg. They fall to the ground. It would be funny wouldn't it? You would laugh at your friends expense. But, the feeling behind that laugh..." Lennox lifted his hand and shook a finger in the air. "It's the feeling that is more important. Is it a cruel laugh? Or one of mirth that can be shared? I feel that Daniel is like that last. Even if I get embarrassed, I know he is not laughing out of cruelty."

Lennox took the sock and tucked it into his pant's pocket before moving along in his inspection. He could hear the slight dejection in Revi's voice. Had she been hoping to share a common unpleasantness with him? "Not really." He said as he pushed some rubble aside. With a faint smile he picked up a notebook and stared to flip through the pages. " I mean I literally was ignored. Girls and boys alike. If I sat at the table with them I never even got a hello. If I spoke to them, they tended to kind of look at me, then go on doing whatever. It was like they did not see me at times. At least when you are bullied it is because you are noticed."

She nodded a bit, pleased at the fact that she would be able to see the outside world again, sometime soon she hoped. Even if it was just a glimpse... she would have been satisfied. Revi suddenly let out a small sigh as she stood up and wrapped her tail around her waist neatly before kneeling back down. It would be no good if her precious tail were to get dirtied, it would probably only end up making her angry, something that she couldn't afford to have happen while the two of them were in the lower levels.

"...There's not really anything in my room 'cause of the lock. Er, well... there is that damned drawer..." She glanced over her shoulder and smiled a bit at his offer, "You know, you're really nice - " She had been poking at a pile of junk with the toe of her boot when something suddenly caught her eye. Slowly pulling out the dirty object she let out a small huff, "Whoa, it's a long scarf. Or... maybe it's only half of what was a super long scarf," she spun around neatly without having to stand up and held out the scarf in front of her, "Useful. Yes no?"

Revi pursed her lips and gave Lennox a disturbed look, only giving him a quiet 'hm'. What he was saying seemed to make sense, but she wasn't quite sure. Her Leader had never laughed at her whenever she had fallen down or messed up terribly during practice, he had always patted her on the head or pulled her into his lap. "How... would you know if your friend wasn't just laughing because you looked like an idiot sitting in the remains of the chair, though? I mean, it's a funny situation, yeah, but what if the one who was in the chair didn't think it was funny? Or maybe the person in the chair is just an uptight loser... urghhh." She let out a frustrated sigh and ruffled at her hair.

Revi draped the piece of scarf over her kneecaps carefully and almost laughed aloud. Oh, how her Leader would be scolding her right about now for squatting in such an inappropriate manner!

The small smile on her lips quickly faded and she gave Lennox a dark scowl, "That's ridiculous. There are those that say that even negative attention is still attention nonetheless, but it sucks. It sucks." She spun around again, making sure not to drop the scarf and gestured awkwardly at the two scars on her back, "that's what I got for being noticed."

He was going to have to ask her about that. Lennox had seen the tail that Revi wore, and while it was certainly a interesting thing. He was not certain if it was real or an accessory. To ask though felt like it would breach a subject that opened up the door for her to ask him questions about himself. Questions he had not worked through himself. So, until he was ready to answer in kind, Lennox was careful not to comment on the tail that Revi wore.

"Is it just a drawer, or like a small table with a drawer in it?" Lennox found himself asking instead as he tucked the notepad inside of his vest. As his leg's started to ache from the position of kneeling, Lennox stood and stretched them. His cheeks had colored mildly when Revi would say he was nice. Well, that was kind of her to say, particularly since they had not started off on overly friendly terms. Lennox turned to see what she had discovered and he looked the scarf over.

"I would say useful. I do not know how cold it can get here, particularly in the winter months. So it's good to be prepared. If nothing else it can be used to tie some things together." Lennox watched as Revi would look less then pleased by his answer. "Well...that depends on you and your friend really." He replied after a moment. "If you trust your friend and are good to each other then, even if your friend is angry for a moment, they will forgive you. It is all about how good of friends you are."

In a matter of moments though, Revi seemed to grow angry at him. Lennox blinked and watched as she turned to show him her back. Instinctively his own wings folded down flat to his back into two colorful trailing lines. Not that he was aware of them doing so. He had not had them long enough to be too conscious of them. "I never said anything about it being something pleasant." He said after a moment's pause. His brows pressed together and he looked from the scar's on Revi's back up to her face.

"Not all experiences are like yours. I am sorry you were hurt for it though."

"Small table with a drawer in it. Useful for hiding stuff, but not so useful when anyone can just waltzed into the room," she shrugged lightly and continued to rummage through the junk carefully. She was a bit worried that her fingers would end up curling themselves around a severed hand or something equally creepy and disgusting if she wasn't paying attention to her actions.

Revi's lips curled upwards into a playful smirk, "And if all else fails, I can always use this thing to choke someone. Or trade, you know, which ever~" She laughed softly and began to fold the scarf into a square. She would have to carry it in her hands since it was too big to fit in her pockets and she wasn't too keen on tying the thing around her waist or wrist... maybe she could shove it down the front of her shirt.

No, that would be weird. She frowned a bit at the thought. And gross.

Revi quirked an eyebrow as she picked up a relatively clean spoon and twirled it around between her fingers. Shrugging to herself, she quickly pocketed the spoon.

"Uh huh." she blinked at Lennox's statement and nodded slowly before drawling slowly, "What ifffff..." Revi was feeling a bit risky for some particular reason, maybe because she hadn't spoken to anyone near her age in awhile (After all, Cassie and Clyde don't exactly count, she laughed), "the friend did something bad. Uh, no! I mean out of the ordinary! Because you're friends, you should just forgive them anyways?" She felt her eyebrows furrow together and her face turn a little red as soon as she had asked her vague question. She suddenly felt awkward and stupid and more importantly angry at herself because she knew that it didn't matter if Lennox answered with a yes or a no. It was rather pointless because her mind would still say "no."

Revi plopped her butt onto the ground and stretched out her legs slightly as she lowered her head and hunched her shoulders slightly as if she were trying to curl up in a ball and just disappear.

"No, it's not being noticed that's bad. It's being bullied. 'At least when you are bullied it is because you are noticed' you had said. It's better to be completely ignored than noticed and bullied - " she clenched her jaw slightly before grumbling quietly.

Taking in a shaky breath in order to calm herself, Revi found herself coughing from the dust in the room. She managed to mutter a few curse words in between coughs as she tried to muffle the sounds with her hands. After finally calming down, Revi spun around and pulled her knees up to her chest. Draping her arms out over her kneecaps she gave Lennox a wild grin and a somewhat angry hiss, "But whatever. Who cares about others, who cares if we were ignored or bullied. To hell with them all!"

He did not think there would be anything more for him to find within the pile he was at. Rising to his feet, Lennox carefully moved towards a corner to push some things around in his search. Revi's light jest of using her found item to choke someone caused Lennox's tail to unconsciously curl against his leg. The few times he had ventured into being violent, he had always regretted it afterwords. Rather then drag out a potentially unpleasant conversation, he focused instead on the posed question to him.

Lennox sat himself down in a cleared off spot of the floor and twisted about so he could look at Revi while sorting through the refuse. The friend had done something bad and...out of the ordinary? What sort of question could this be? Her face had turned red, and for a second time that evening he wondered if he had stumbled upon something in their discussion. It did not seem so fair in his mind. He seemed to be speaking a part of a conversation that he had only heard one side of. The rest of the conversation held clearly was within Revi's mind. Still. He did have an answer for that.

"No." He replied after a period of silence. Lennox's tail twitched upon the floor and he glanced back down into the things beside him. "To be friends does not mean to be infallible in all things. Words and actions can hurt more deeply then is forgivable. It is not a given thing that because one wears the title 'friend' that they shall always be forgiven. It is the the one who is hurt who may decide if forgiveness can be given, earned, or denied."

He reached into the pile and picked through it carefully. "Again though, to be considered a friend means you must also grant that individual special thought. How good of a friend was this person? Was their action truly meant to be painful? Was the action a result of honest ignorance or carelessness? Only you can answer the questions and only you can determine if the friend truly was a friend at all."

Lennox found something glinting in the pile, and reached eagerly for it. Upon doing so though, a ice cold pain shot through his fingers at the briefest of touches. Hissing softly, he snapped his hand away and sent the small iron nail he'd accidentally grabbed skittering somewhere into the corner. He flexed his fingers in an effort to hurry the pain away while rising to his feet.

"I think...in each of our cases we will be inclined to disagree in some manner." He murmured in response to Revi's muttering. "I can not imagine what sort of bullying you suffered through, and you can not imagine the shame and sadness of being invisible. Just like a differing of flavors and colors I believe each person perceives emotional pain differently." Lennox paused as he realized that he was almost rambling in his effort to keep from saying anything more to upset the clearly unhappy Revi. He tried to smile a little at the strange grin and carefree surrender of the topic for a Devil May Care attitude.

"I think there is nothing more to find in this room. Would you like to continue on or shall we make our way to the courtyard now?"

Revi carefully shook her hair out and tied it back into the loose side ponytail that she often sported in attempt to act as if the conversation wasn't making her feel awkward. She began twirling a lock of brown hair and she wasn't quite sure if she was happy and relieved or ashamed and pained at his response. She slowly stood up to wake up her numb legs and balled her hand into a tight fist so tight she was sure there would be little red marks on her palm once she uncurled the fingers.

"What if... they were really good to you and they had never wronged you before, but they," she suddenly whirled around to face Lennox and suddenly remembered who she was talking to. A real person. It wasn't one of those mental arguments she always had when she couldn't sleep at night, it wasn't one of those times when she was venting all alone in her empty room trying to reassure herself, trying to justify what he had done and -

"Ah. Y-you know what? Never mind. Sorry. Let's just drop the subject, okay?" Revi curled the corners of her lips back into a small apologetic smile and began absentmindedly fingering the green pendant around her neck. Despite the far off look on her face, Revi picked up on the small hiss that came from Lennox. Her eyes narrowed a fraction of an inch as she took note of the small, somewhat shiny object that he had thrown away and despite her bubbling curiosity, she chose to keep quiet and pretended that she hadn't noticed.

"Isn't that funny?" She leaped forward in a single fluid motion landing quietly next to Lennox. Placing both hands on her hips in a childish manner she turned around so that she was facing the same direction as Lennox, "The invisible guy and the girl who stood out too much. In the same room. Two different ends of the spectrum. How silly."

Her lips opened into a small 'o' shape as she looked around the room quickly, "Huh, seems that way. Hell, I dunno. Whatever you wanna do, ye -" Her sentence died almost instantly as she seemed to freeze up. Her ear feathers wiggled slightly and splayed out against the side of her head and she glanced at the door. It had barely been there, but she had heard a sound. A faint, barely audible something. She was positive that it hadn't been a bang or even a clack or boom, but it still made the fine hairs on the back of her neck stand up as she continued to listen carefully.

"Am I hearing things?"

Lennox continued to flex his fingers as he worked the feeling back into the tips. Now that he was aware of the nail being present, though he could not see it now, it's very presence made him feel agitation. He could barely keep from squirming due to the fact they were lingering in the room.

Revi seemed to still be struggling with her questions. She clearly was uneasy asking them, and as she brushed them off Lennox was willing to let it drop to the side. Either Revi was afraid of the answer, or did not want to hear it. If he were more familiar with her he supposed he could venture a more personal guess...but this was not the proper time to try and read a person. Lennox was learning that a slow and steady approach to understanding others was suiting him well. It left less chance for making mistakes which would complicate future interactions. Besides, it's not like he had any reason to hurry and rush to get to know anyone. He did not quiet have a future anymore.

Lennox gave a small start when Revi leap over to him. Twisting his upper body a little to face her, he smiled faintly at her bravado. There seemed to be something in her that made her react to many situations in a boisterous manner. Was it just a quirk of her personality or a coping mechanism? Again, this would be something he'd need to learn over time he supposed. "What is that saying...opposites attract?" He replied with a small laugh "Perhaps in company we establish a balance of sorts." He continued with amusement. Lennox's tail curled back and forth behind him in a slow sway. He was listening to Revi speak, when she seemed to stop mid-sentence. Lennox dropped his aching hand to his side and turned to look at the door. His head tilted and his brows furrowed in concentration. "I hear nothing Revi." He spoke softly, though afterwords he followed with a apologetic smile. "But my hearing may not be as keen as yours. Perhaps we should certainly head up now. Come, follow me." Lennox spoke and gave Revi a faint gesture with his fingers. If she had heard something he did not want to linger here where they could be trapped. He was cautious enough to know better then to brush anything off, even a possible phantom sound. Lennox crept to the door, and cautiously poked his head around the door-frame to check the hall before exiting.

Revi watched Lennox's actions out of the corners of her eyes carefully, quickly making several mental notes. He was, without a doubt, an interesting person. She pursed her lips and looked away as she twisted at a lock of hair in an agitated manner. She had been rambling too much, he surely thought that she was a little strange at this point. Or maybe a bit self-centered since she had been the main focus of their awkward little conversation. What was she supposed to do now? Maybe ask him a little about his family or whatever the hell it was that he had? Of course, that may have been a little nosy according to Revi's own personal mantra of 'If I had wanted to... then I would have!' Of course, this time around it was something more like -

If he had wanted to talk about himself, then he would have. Tch. She scowled at herself inwardly and quickly turned to face Lennox. She took in a sharp breath and let out a small sigh before smiling merrily, "Oh, Leader once told me that~"

She gave him a big almost childish frown and seemed to bristle up a bit comically, "Are you suuuure?" A shiver ran down her spine as she quickly followed after Lennox, "Place gives me the creeps. I'm not crazy or anything, pretty sure I heard something... sounded like a door closing? Maybe I'm just gettin' paranoid, yeah? Oh, speakin' of doors, maybe we could try breakin' into someone's room sometime? I can... pick locks. Maybe we could jack a pot or two for you?" She paused as she heard the faint sound of what seemed like a low cough and quickly shook her head and hissed quietly as she scooted along right at his heels, "Hurry up."

The conversation, sadly, had to come to an abrupt halt. As much as Lennox had been enjoying listening to Revi, the possibility of someone being near was worrisome. Lennox barely had any means of defending himself, and he could not in good conscious merely ditch Revi. He did not want to think about what result there may be if they faced someone or thing dangerous.

He wished Daniel was present.

"There can be no fault found in being alert. It is wise to pay attention to the things you feel or think here. You may detect something subconsciously that you would try to brush off, and that could harm you." he heard her offer of picking locks, but his attention was focused on the possibility of danger. They could speak on that subject later. Lennox hunkered down a bit towards the ground. His toes tip toed quietly on the floor without a sound. When that cough was sounded though..well..he heard that as well. He sensed Revi's nearness, and reached back instinctively to grab at her hand. If he were to run, he wished to ensure that he was not leaving her behind. He simply could not do that. He led her down here. She was his responsibility for now. His head nodded faintly at her urging, and he picked up his pace. Perhaps as there were two of them here, they would be avoided by any loners... Lennox made a beeline for the stairs that would lead them back up to the level they had left.

He...really wished Daniel was present.
PostPosted: Fri Aug 20, 2010 3:41 pm

She shook off the goosebumps on her arms and quietly crept along after Lennox like a second shadow. Any hint of a smile that had been hanging onto her lips had disappeared and been replaced a grim frown. Of course, her face didn't seem to suit the current situation they had been placed in, rather than looking serious or scared or even angry, she simply looked displeased. As if her hair was being unruly or as if she couldn't get her rings onto her fingers. Revi bit her lip and chewed on it for a few seconds before quietly asking, "How fast can you run?"

She sucked in a sharp breath and nearly punched Lennox in the face out of sheer instinct for suddenly grabbing her hand. She balled her hand into a fist and shivered slightly. She was just a little jumpy.

That's right. She reassured herself mentally, we shouldn't get separated. He's not gonna hurt me. Hewon'trightrightright - And then her worries went away. Despite the initial surprise, she suddenly felt a little safer from the contact; not because she thought that he would protect her (for some reason Revi doubted that Lennox was a fighter), but because she was glad that she wasn't alone. Of course, being with another person was like carrying extra baggage, but even so...

"It's like some kind of goddamn horror flic -" Revi suddenly tensed up as she looked up at the stairs. She yanked on Lennox's hand softly to stop him and questioned him in an oddly calm manner, "There are footsteps coming down the stairs. Quick, friend or foe? Forward or back?"

There was the possibility that whoever it was that was coming down had nothing to do with that cough or anything of the sort, after all it might just be another patient that would ignore them, but that was just her inner optimist taking control of her thoughts.

How fast could he run? Lennox glanced over his shoulder at Revi. He caught sight of her balled fist, but assumed that her fright and tense reaction was due to the situation he had foolishly gotten them into. "I was never picked first for baseball...but I never was last either." He offered her as his reply. He wasn't a fast runner, but he wasn't exactly a slow one either. Of course, if he became a cat then he would be far quicker but...then he ran the risk of leaving Revi behind. That clearly was not an option.

Lennox tossed about in his head for some sort of response to Revi's observation of this being like a horror movie, but as she cut herself off he found himself yanked back unexpectedly. Clearly her sense of sound was far greater then his. He had not heard the footsteps, and her quickly asked question left him uncertain. "Best not to take a chance." He murmured and looked over his shoulder. Unknowing that his thoughts were tumbling down the same path as Revi's, Lennox pointed to a opened door and hissed. "Quick. Inside. We'll close and hold it until the person on the stairs pass." He offered as the only quick answer he could find to their situation. Hide and hope nothing happened. Gently Lennox pushed at Revi with the hand that held her's to direct her to the door before they were spied. He supposed that the fact there were two of them may give anyone pause in attacking...but Revi was a slight gitl and hardly looked fierce. And him? With his hair and wings...well if it were not for them he supposed he might have looked dangerous enough with his teeth. But the rest just seemed to take away from that image in his mind.
PostPosted: Mon Aug 23, 2010 3:51 pm

Revi furrowed her brow slightly at Lennox and seemed to give him a displeased look, as if he had given her the wrong answer during math class, W...what? baseball? What the hell does that have to do with anything? "Soooo," she drawled out quietly, "you're average speed? That's no good." She gave him a quick sideways glance and sighed softly. It's not as if she could just pick him up and carry him away as she fled for dear life. Maybe if he had some roller skates on hi -

Focus, Reverie. Dammit. Focus.

"Maybe it's like a game, yeah? You know, if we hurry on upstairs and beat 'em up we'll advance a level. Maybe that's the dungeon master waiting for us? S'all parta the adventure. Maybe we're missin' out on some goodies by hiding out." She laughed softly in a feeble attempt to lighten the dangerous mood. She had never been a technology person, but she did recall the time her Leader had gifted her a gameboy...

Her head snapped back as she heard the footsteps speed up a bit and get louder, louder, louder. Revi brushed a lock of hair out of her eyes as she hurried after Lennox into the room a little less afraid because of her silly idea that this was all a bit like some game. As she entered the room alongside Lennox, she had to hold back the urge to gag and cough. The nauseating scent of vomit and the subtle copper twang of blood hit Revi's nose like a freight train. She didn't have a particularly extraordinary sense of smell, but she could feel her eyes watering at the moldy air in the room. Covering her mouth with her free hand, she managed to grind out, "Smells like s**t in here. Holy hell."

She had decided not to look around the room and instead ducked her head down slightly and let out a low snicker, "Hey, Lennox. Wouldn't it be disgustingly funny if we weren't alone in here? Like some kind of zombie horror, boom, the undead's all up in this room waiting for us." She gave him a mischievous grin in the dark and hoped that she hadn't jinxed them or anything of the sort.

"As I am, sadly." Lennox breathed once they had 'achieved safety' in the room. Ugh...oh..the smell! His eyes watered from it and the desire to retch was nearly overwhelming. Lennox leaned up against the door and did his best to not think about what his bare feet may just be resting upon right now. Revi's attempt to lighten their situation with referring it to some game was...well...he tried to find it amusing. However he was just far too frightened. The fact that the footsteps had sped up had made him feel that the they had been hurrying on to find the source of voices. That was not the actions of someone who...well..was it? No. Lennox could not believe the person meant them no harm. Not after that first encounter here.

"Perhaps the smell may mask our own." Lennox tried to breath through his mouth, but in doing so he swore he could taste the retching smell on his tongue. Revi's low snicker, coupled by her words drew a terrified expression from Lennox. "No. No it would not Reverie. Please do not say such things." he whispered as he leaned against the door with the back of his head. "Do you hear anyone out there?"
