Cas took a moment more to really watch the hen - she was being watchful, but not particularly so. Her head bobbed up every five seconds or so, her black eyes opened wide to catch whoever might be sneaking toward her, but when she jerked the berries off their bush she was focused on nothing else. A silent leap would be best, so she had only the second jump to gather herself for her escape. He charted his course, his heart at last beginning to thump as his muscles coiled and his pupils contracted, and with a nearly soundless rush he sprung up from the grass and brush, his great paws slamming mercilessly into the earth as he coiled and leapt onto the squealing bird. He slammed into her in a squall of squawks and roaring wingbeats, and for a few explosive moments they grappled, the bird twisting with her wing snared in his jaws, until the right grip and a powerful snap of his head forever silenced his quarry. Casimir stood for a moment with his tail arched and a ten-pound turkey hanging limp from his jaws, his heart beating fiercely and his mind curiously blank, before relaxing his posture, dropping the bird, and glancing around for the surly Sister.

With Cas creeping forward to make the kill Patroclus followed a bit behind him not sure exactly how he was to help out, but hey he was here and that's all that really mattered. So when the large male leapt at the hen the smaller pup raced forward, eager to help in any way, and that way was to grab hold of the hens tail as it trashed and tried to get out of Cas' grip. Of course she didn't fight for very long, but she did manage to escape Patroclus' grip and leave him standing there with a mouthful of tail feathers. With the bird dead Patroclus spit out the feathers and let his tail wag. "We did it!" He stated excitedly even if it was Cas that had pretty much did all the work.
"Though we should probably head back, we have duties to do." He added as a somewhat after thought. Perhaps if he pointed out that they needed to get back Varia wouldn't yell at them for slacking off from their duties to go hunting. "I can't wait to tell everyone that we caught a turkey. Too bad dad wasn't here to see it."
Varia watched with little enthusiasm as Cas and the pup moved on the bird. Though with a careful eye trained on the adult slave Varia did wonder how such a seemingly lazy slave could have such good muscle tone. The thought immediately disgusted her and she let out a small growl. What did she care if he had a well sculpted body or not, he was still worthless dirt. Standing Varia slipped out from the bushes. "Catching a fan, slow bird is not an accomplishment to be proud of." Her words directed more at Patroclus than Casimir. "And yes you do have duties to attend to, so I suggest you get moving." She herself had a training session to lead shortly and had spent more than enough time watching over the slaves, time to do something more useful to the pack, to train the warriors to their fullest potential or break them in the process. Best to weed out the weak ones before a true battle occurs. So with that Varia turned and padded off back towards the dens, she cared not what the slaves did with the turkey, they could let it rot in the forest, eat it or take it to the sisters.

Cas remained rather still and silent as Varia stalked by them to say her piece. He had hoped that, just maybe, she would want the bird as a gift (it was fat, and it would be delicious), but apparently she really had just been watching in case they failed to make a kill. He sighed and looked down at Patroclus, lifting his shoulder in a shrug. "I really thought she was going to be meaner to us," he admitted with a grin. "Does this mean we did a good job? Anyway-" he stretched his jaws open wide to gently hold the bird, "we' hetta ge' 'ack." He winked, bouncing forward and whisking his tail, and took off at a teasing jaunt back toward the den site. Careful, of course, not to take their chase anywhere near Varia's path.
