His eyes went wide in horror at the sight of the tiny yet sought after ball of bread came sailing towards him. He thrust one hand out to try and ward it away and used his other arm to shield his face from the potential of pecking bills and scraping feet.

The piece of bread bounced off of Jarest's arm, landing with a soft pfffnt in the sand. Or, perhaps it managed to land with a thud? Cathaoir coukdn't tell from where he sat as the birds shrieked and dove in front of the other boy, squabbling over the bread. If Jarest wanted to pet one, it seemed like now was the time!
The other boy, however, was grinning and watching the birds, shaking his head. "Wow!" he exclaimed, but that was lost to the constant cries of the birds fighting.

Jarest peered cautiously out over his arm when the bread bounced free and the birds didn't maul him for that precious scrap of food, the sight of them huddled and bickering over the scrap was something else though, He reached a cautious hand and swept it over the back feathers of the bird and withdrew quickly before it snapped at him. So soft...dirty, but soft. How marvelous it must be to fly.
"Their really something..." he murmured.
