She had a point and he sidestepped with her nudge, chuckling quietly. Then he ducked his head, apologetic, and smiled. "All right. You want more detail than that." He took a deep breath. "It doesn't rain that much here, to be honest. Snows sometimes when winter comes, but not all the time. Skinwalkers pass by now and then, but it's been some time since the last one came. There are wolves," he offered, thinking of the pack that stalked the caves, "but even they're under control. A plenty fine place to settle," he promised. "Though, you're bound to earn a second look or two."

"Walkers eh?" she replied. "Guess that's something...You don't see those guys wandering around..." she replied, sneaking behind him. "unless they wanna EAT YA!" she smirked.

It was hard to sneak in plain sight, especially since she'd just been beside him, but he played along, not turning to follow where she went until she spoke again. Then he turned his head, amused, and gave her a nod of agreement. "That's usually true."
Now he turned to face her. "Fortunately for us, we're good at taking care of ourselves and protecting those who can't." The benefits of living with a clan of hunters.

Raven chuckled at him. Smiling gently as she went back to facing him. "Protecting? Are you soldiers or something?" she asked him, raising an eyebrow out of curiosity. Rare was it that some soqs would dare tangle up with a Kalona or a 'walker. The majority of cases would end up with scars at the least.

Soldiers. There was a term Roque had never really considered for himself, or his family. Strange how it applied, though. He tipped his head, flicked and ear and shrugged his wings again. "I guess we are, in a manner of speaking. When we have reason to, we'll fight and stand guard. So...sometimes we're soldiers. Most of the time, not."
That probably needed more explanation. Not knowing how she'd take it, he pushed on. "My father and uncle are blood drinkers. My brother too, when the mood takes him." Roque didn't have the teeth for it. "We can get a little...territorial."

She tensed up a bit. the last thing she needed was to be eaten alive, and most likely painfully. "You're...not going to eat me are you?" she asked a bit nervously, though more shock and surprise in her eyes and face. Seriously, she only knew Kalonas, 'Walkers and a few mutants would eat meat or drink blood, rare a normal looking one such as him.

Roque blinked, startled by the question. Then he shook his head and laughed. "Even if I shared my father's cravings, I wouldn't take blood from another Soquili. You haven't heard of a wolf eating one of its own, have you?" Likely not, unless the wolf had a sickness or a madness changing its behavior. "You're safe," he promised.

"Hey, the other two don't have much hesitation of eating anything else that's alive." she replied to him. Chuckling at him with a smile and nudging his side gently.

"Fortunately for you," he said, carefully shifting his wing out of the way so neither of them smacked bones or got their feathers fouled, "I'm not one of the other two. If I were, I'd have bitten you by now."

Roque shook his head. "Not yet, though I've been thinking that it's time I do something about that. My brother's already gone off exploring, settled with a mate and raised foals. It's my turn now. time to get out and see the world," he said, giving his wings a stretch, then chuckled at himself. "Which sounds very important, but I won't go far, in truth."

Roque shrugged his wings again. "I haven't gotten tired of seeing what's close to home yet," he confessed. "It'll happen one of these days. The wind will blow through my feathers and I'll know it's time to go." He smiled, unconcerned. He wasn't in a hurry. "Until then, I have responsibilities here. Why did you stop here, of all the places you've seen?"

Roque laughed again. "Then we're at the same place in our lives. Just taking different paths to get there. I'm sure you'll find your place, if you want it to be here." He looked around, then back at her, and nodded. "Plenty of space, and room for all sorts."
