sad Deviantart won't load...it's not letting me see the pictures. My internet sucks. So much for broadband...

*Several refreshes later* Nope, still not working. I'll try again later.

*More refreshes later* Hey, they're loading...and whoa, they're awesome! For someone who's only been doing this for two or three days, your stuff sure is wicked-awesome-cool...especially love the "Marble world" one.

Wow, only three days! Excellent! I wish I knew Max, a lot of studios use it, but the school where I went teaches Lightwave, and then Maya to graduates. These programs are very dense with features, and there is so much to learn!

Wowee. Great, both of you!

I think that 3DS Max is an EVILE program, but you've done a nice job making it work for you. ^_^

Isn't Max expensive though?

That depends. If you're not picky about where you get your software, you could always get a file-sharing program like LimeWire and download a pirate copy. Of course, if you actually want to buy it legally, then it probably is expensive.

Woah you can use 3D modelling programs to do things other than draw naked girls?!? When did they come out with a program for that?! smile

Khall, I'm telling Jiggy to get her earhorn of discipline out!

LOTF, I don't like to use crack copies of software, and $3.5K is a little rich for my blood. I'll see if I can track down the trial version you mention. Thanks!

By the way, I'm making particle snow for my demo reel while I'm sitting around waiting to get better. LW particle systems make me nuts.

~<The Heir of Slytherin...
Fresnel, what's an LW particle system? I'm not much of the technical type and have absolutely no clue what you're talking about... sweatdrop

What LOTF said. I'm doing a scene with falling snow, but because Lightwave takes a reeeallly long time to render (process) these ten of thousands of particles plus the million plus polygons in my model, I cut it some slack and create a background image, then the midground image of buildings, then put the snow on top, like a sandwich, in a program called Adobe AfterEffects. (Actually, I'll probably do a couple of snow passes.)

Here's just one snow frame, without anything else in it. Little white ... particles!
