"Oh man no need to turn red! Well... some here might be.. easy? I wouldn't really know...just arriving. My parents tried to keep such rumors away from me, they would flip a gasket if they thought sex was so casual here. I dont know." She laughed nervously as her cerulean eyes grew wide as a tinge of pink showed on her own face mirroring his.
"Uhm.... This is really awkward." she moved to take a bite of her food to try and pass time. It didnt help.
"...So."
"What made you get into healercraft?" She did not like awkward conversation - time for s subject change.

"Very..." he agreed to the comment about it being awkward and eagerly took the opportunity to change topics. "Mmm.. I used to bring home 'strays'... and I'd do little things like pull splinters from my sister's fingers, or bind their blisters. Little thing... " he said with a shrug. "But I liked it better than weaving, my father thought it would be better for me to learn to heal people than beasts...so he apprenticed me to the local healer...and..." he shrugged. Traveling to the Wyer and hearing his master talk about the possibility of him becoming a candidate instead had been... at once exciting and distressing. Part of him had wondered if he'd been so disappointing that he was something the man wanted rid of, the other part was enthralled by the histories and tales of the Dragons saving them from Thread...even if they were 'just a drain' when no thread fell.

"Weaving sounds boring if you ask me." She shivered at the thought. "Sitting at a loom all day doing nothing but move your hands and feet? Noooo thank you! I would much rather be actually moving around than sitting on my rump." Kind of a ironic statement if you noticed she was sitting down currently. Quickly she added "No offense to your family that is!" She didnt want to seem ungrateful for him telling her his past at least.
"At least they let you go? My family took a long time before they let me go find a master. Took a lot of convincing, and making mistakes in the kitchen, before they chose to let me go." She grinned a little. "I wonder if they finally ok'd it just to get me out of the house." She laughed semi nervously.
She ate the last bite of food on her plate before she tacked on " I was searched on accident at a Gather..."

"They were happier about the healingcraft than about being searched." He admitted glancing side long at her where she 'sat on her rump'. "If no one wove...we'd be naked... or always in leathers though, I think that wouldn't be so pleasant in the summer." He added and took another mouthful of food.
"By accident?" He asked after a moment feeling anxious about her sudden nervousness. Had he made her uncomfortable? He wasn't sure...

"I know how important it is...the wool we sheered from our sheep would be sent to the weavers." She gave him a droll stare. "So its not like my family didn't play its part."
"I guess you can call it destiny or something. I was at a Gather looking around and enjoying the festival when i was pulled to the side by a Rider. I was then told i was a candidate. What if i was never at that gather, you know?"

"I... don't really see that as by accident though." He said confused, she seemed touchy about it though. He hadn't meant to trivialize the roll her family played, just to say that everyone was needed for what they did though others might find that roll tedious. "We...-were- searched, and...we're here. And we'll fill a roll that people need one way or the other? I didn't mean to ... trivialize any of it it just is. My sisters love the weaving and neither of us could stand it that's all."

"I just find it funny.... during times thread doesn't fall they call the Weyrs leeches... but." She paused. "Even if thread doesn't fall they need candidates like us to train and prepare for when it does."
Sighing she rolled her eyes. "Sorry my family doesn't approve of Weyrs at all. Leeches, skum of pern, teaching children bad ways of life, women actually riding dragons! Etc. I don't share their views at all... more so now that i know i could one day be a rider protecting Pern. I find it funny they mock the ones whom save them if they dont need them at the time." She rambled on more and more.
"Besides!" She said suddenly perking up and grinning. "We are here and might as well make the best of it!"
"...Augh class soon." She said as a matter-of-fact.

He nodded in agreement to the time, and then paused thoughtful. "Do you think the thread will fall again...while we're here?" He asked a little afraid, it was amazing to think people could ever forget the danger of it, but at the same time he could appreciate how they would see the Wyers as they did, after all he'd been from a cothold too. "I guess being searched, gives us a real look at what it's like here, it's not... luxurious and lazy at all, theirs so much to do..." he said appreciatively.
"Thanks...um...for sitting with me." he added.

"I..don't know." The thought of thread falling was a frightening enough concept alone. After pausing lost in thought for a moment, she shrugged. "That's what we are here for right? To train our minds and bodies and to impress with a dragon. In case thread does fall... we will be there to make sure it does not get far."
"You are not kidding kid. This work is not for the weak of heart, maybe that is some sort of requirement to be searched?" She grinned before standing up. Reaching out she ruffled his hair as a playful gesture. "Ill see you around sometime maybe?" She liked the kid - little stuttery and quiet but he seemed nice enough. That is if he could learn to tolerate Tila.

"Nnnk!" He said making a strange strangled startled sound as she fluffed his already unruly hair.
"I...I'll be here!" He nodded in agreement. It was good to have friends again in this strange new place. He liked her, and he rather liked Innari, even though he wasn't -quite- sure he should be 'friends' with the Jr. Wyer leader... but still... if no one complained ...he could be, right?
