A surge of familiar pain coursed through Remy’s body as the bare skin on her hands collided in a quick manner with that of Rogue’s wrist. In an instant Gambit’s body was drained of her most basic powers and memories, she could see flashes of everything as Rogue’s proverbial touch took bit by bit the things that made Remy…Her body in this moment took on a drowsy humor, so much so that when Rogues pulled free of Gambit’s grasp she stumbled backwards and was kept up by only her most primal reactions. With that Remy shook her head as if to break free from an invisible bind, there was no doubt left in her mind, this could be no dream…she could never have dreamed up something that recognizable in such a foreign incarnation. This new information descended onto her at the same instant that her sight returned, a touch from Rogue, either of them, always left her unnerved.

Rogue, that seemed to now be an ever present care in her mind, she hadn’t seen him in so long…she could remember it all so clearly, his voice, his smile…his touch. This odd occurrence had only reopened all the memories and wounds that she had associated with him…but it wasn’t his fault, she had been the one to leave, to run. Her face turned into a pained grimace as she thought of what she had done, how could she?

Bringing herself back to the present situation Gambit acknowledged Rogue’s words with a slight nod of the head, she said she knew her, and that she did.

“Oui,” Remy agreed, “ya do my petite, I fear ah hint to well.”

With her now returning energy she moved herself forward keeping up with Rogue as she made her way towards the large building, Gambit was still unsure of its purpose, though it felt oddly familiar…as did everything in this new world. Onward she marched, how cliché, hoping whatever lay beyond would hold no threat, she was no longer in a position to fight…though she was still in one to win, but at what cost?

The two were soon inside the mansion and arriving in what appeared to be the galley of the place, she was being offered something to drink, would that help.

“Wouldn’t mind some water, chere.”

Her next question would require some deeper delving into Remy’s day, at this point she herself wasn’t even clear on things anymore. She knew she had come here, this world, for a reason…she just couldn’t recall it…

“Honest mon ami, I don’ know why I’m here, not anymore… I knew before, seems I did a’bit ah forgetin’ on my way here, par qui?”

She shut her eyes tight again in a last attempt to bring forth her memory of before…before what, she remembered her world, she remembered everything…just not the why. It seemed the longer she was here the more that slipped away from her, what would go next. Hers eyes came back open to reveal a look of frustration painted on her face, her hand, shoved back in her pocket, gripped tightly to a lone card, she needed its luck…she needed her luck.

“Frustratin’,” Gambit dropped the topic, it was hurting her head, “so ya know me, oui?”

Untouchable | Anna Marie | X-Woman

Rogue grabbed two glasses and filled them with ice, her mind trying to figure out the odd puzzle before her. This other Remy was definitely from an alternate world, but the memories she had absorbed were already fading. Try as she might, Rogue just couldn't hold onto them as they slipped away. She struggled to keep them, to find out the answer to why this woman was here. Keeping her mental struggle off of her face, Rogue moved to the sink and quickly filled the glasses with water. Not for the first time, she wished she had better control over her abilities - or any control, really. If she did, perhaps she could have figured out the woman's purpose for coming to her world.

She realized that the water had been running for too long, and was spilling over the edges of the glass she held in her hand and quickly set the drinks on the counter and shut the sink off. Picking them back up, she headed to the kitchen table and set them down. Rogue slid into a seat and gestured for Remy to do the same.

"Yeah, Ah know ya...well, this world's version of ya Ah guess Ah should say." She fiddled with her gloves for a bit before nervously taking a sip of her water. "You're--he's my...it's complicated," she finished lamely. Taking a moment to observe this other Gambit, Rogue smiled a little wistfully. "You definitely look like him," she murmured.

This wasn't the time to think about her wayward significant other though, Rogue reminded herself. Whatever had brought her here could end up proving itself a threat; people didn't just cross dimensions for the fun of it... and from the glimpses of the world Rogue had caught, it didn't seem as though mutants were being hunted down and captured. So why was she here and why now?

"Ya really can't remember why ya came here?" Rogue asked, not unsympathetically. Sensing it was a difficult topic, Rogue changed the direction of the conversation. "Ah'm sure we'll figure it out... Ah don't know what ya do back home, if ya got a place like this, but this is the Xavier Institute. It's a safe place, and ya can stay here as long as ya need to."

Her curiosity tugged at her, her mind returning to the image of her...or, the Rogue of that world to be more precise. "Just like Ah know ya, you know me, don't ya?" Rogue was afraid of what the answer would be - were they separated there? Were the two of them doomed to never make what was between them work, even in another world? Rogue didn't want to admit that was a possibility, but the feelings she had taken that were associated with the man in the memories were filled with sadness, longing, and most of all regret.

A touch. So little to ask for. So much to expect...

Gambit raised the glass to her lips, a slight shake of the hand made the water tremble as it finally touched her lips. The cold liquid slid down her throat in a refreshing manner, chilling her for an instant. She was pleased to be sitting in this room…this odd place, Xavier Institute, she was safe there? What had made Rogue so sure of this?

“Safe, ever have any ah doe’s human extremists ‘round here?”

The question seemed normal enough, back at home the Force’s HQ had had the occasional human nuisance. They were always settled down quickly thank s to some more aggressive members of the team, one’s who didn’t quite like humans. Remy herself was no fan of homo-sapiens either, she was well aware of her superiority, yet she didn’t treat them like dogs, not quite. Back at home things were different, she could remember at least that much. Rogues comment came at her in an odd way, it made her smile. This other version of her, the one that called this place home, seemed to be a man.

“I look like him, garcon? Guess dat would make since. An chere, knowing ya ain’t da start of it, de other you is my beau o’ sorts, or was.”

Remy’s eyes wandered around the room as she began to picture in her mind what a male her would look like, her brain kept screwing up images and messing things up, this was hard for her to visualize. Still again she tried and the only clear sight she had was that of Rogue, her Rogue. Anything, anything at all but that, she couldn’t even bare to think of him… not after what she had done. Seeing this as good a time as ever to inquire about Rogue’s life Remy worked up the words to ask.

“What did I do to ya, I mean, da other me?”

Her eyes focused onto Rogue, if things were the same here her answer would be painful to hear…Gambit may have screwed up in two worlds. Still again Gambit tried hard as she could to recall more information on her trip here, she would find it…and then it would be gone, almost as if it had never been there. The annoying thing came upon her as she began to have an idea, a bad one. If she couldn’t find these answers in her own mind…maybe she didn’t have to. If Rogue could try to absorb more, on purpose this time, could they find the answers. Without further hesitation Remy removed the glove from her hand and laid it carelessly beside her now empty glass. With her other hand she grasped tightly onto the counter on which she was leaning, she braced herself for what would come…now to convince Rogue, too easy. With any luck this Rogue would be as susceptible to her hypnotic charm as her Rogue was, if so she should be able to force the idea onto her…

“Do your ‘ting again mon ami, I think we could both use dem answers.”

At this she pressed her bare hand closer, eyes albaze with anticipation...
