"Oh, that must be terrible," Shiro said, continuing to follow Shinya blindly as the passage grew darker. "Not knowing where your family is, I mean. My entire family is a part of the Kousetsu tribe," he explained. "We're always together."

Shinya paused to think about it. "You know I have never really thought about it. I mean my dad had me and my older brother while my mom had my two oldest brother with her. Mom is a wander and dad lives in the bamboo tribe that holds my uncle and cousins. Since mom is always on the move it has never been a real problem but she would always come back with in a certain time frame. But she has missed that frame by like 3 months or 3 times"She said starting to feel really sad as it really finally started to hit her.

Shiro listened quietly and humbly, it seemed that Shinya hadn't really thought about any of this before now. "I'm sorry about that," Shiro almost whispered. He didn't say any more, couldn't think of anything else, as they continued to walk. He wondered where they were going. He could no longer see anything, but he could follow closely behind Shinya's scent and along the wall. It didn't seem as if the passage would end any time soon.

Shinya nodded and quietly said "Its ok." She stopped when it became dark. "I think we are deep enought that the heat wont affect you."

Shiro nodded in agreement. He definitly felt much better than before, and was glad he had met Shinya in the first place. "Thanks," he said, turning toward Shinya's scent. "I probably never would have thought to find an underground place to cool off in."

Shinya laughed and said "Your welcome. Most dont but I found out its a good spot while playing hide and go seek with my brothers"She was smiling at the memory.

Shiro nodded, but realised Shinya couldn't really see him through the dark. "So you've been here before? And often?" He asked, as he never would have guessed. He had thought the place had been abandoned years ago. There was no doubt that the humans hadn't thought about it in a while. He hadn't pictured many foxes strolling around either, though.

'Nope never been here before. I actually just stumbled upon this place today.'Shinya stated honestly. She kicked a rock that was in the dirt and listened as it hit the ground a couple times.

"I see." Shiro said. "Good thing, then." He glanced around, his eyes were slowly adjusting, but he still couldn't see much of anything. Maybe there was just nothing around them but the dark walls. "Is there anywhere interesting to go or see around here?" He asked. He was sufficiently cooled off now, and it probably wasn't as hot outside at nighttime.

"We might as well, in my opinion," Shiro replied with a smile, turning to face the direction they had not entered from. He wasn't sure how far it would go but he was sure it went to a while. "Would you like to take the lead, or shall I?"

"Oh, I'm sorry," Shiro said, as he felt her brush against him. He had been moving as well, and believed it was his fault they had run into each other. He moved forward, away from the direction they had come. "I don't know," he answered. "Maybe another house?" Instead of lingering on the question, he began walking forward.

"Its fine it was my fault anyways."She said before she let her mind wander. As she did she hummed softly which kept it from being to quite. "What if it leads to a cave?"

“Hmm,” Shiro considered as he continued to walk. “Good question, it just might…” Walking along the wall, since he couldn’t exactly see, Shiro felt the passage begin to narrow a little. And then suddenly it opened up again. The stone wall he was following took an almost ninety degree turn, causing Shiro to stop right in front of Shinya. “Seems like you were right,” he said. “It is like a cave…” Little did he know that it was much more than a cave, but an old, abandoned mine.
