Clara sighed softly. This man was a walking contradiction. Obviously, he had been around the block if her interaction with him brought such a reaction from the females around. "Apology accepted." She said, tugging her gloves back up her arms. "If you're so worried about what I want, then why are you still following me?" Not like she hadn't given him plenty of reason to walk back to his adoring fans.

"Well..." a small smile formed on his face, "You intrigue me. I'm curious to see how you work." Arphenion would compliment on her looks, cause she was a uniquely beautiful cattauress, but that wouldn't do right now. He bent forward, his white hair falling over his shoulder as his eyes scanned her face, his eyes and smile friendly, "If you're still up for it, I'd be more than happy to buy you dinner."

"How I work." She repeated flatly. "Trying to find what makes me tick?" She walked quicker before pausing, looking to a tavern to the side. He seemed determined to keep following her... She certainly couldn't lead him to her home. "Still going on about dinner." She couldn't give in though, not even to try to get him to go. Give men one step, and they'll expect another one, and then another one. "I prefer to eat in peace." Turning toward the better looking of the two diner taverns and stepping inside to grab a table.

"Then I'll try and keep quiet then." Arphenion grinned, as he followed her into the tavern, feeling the eyes of the females in the tavern. Grabbing a table by the window, he pulled out a chair for her, his smile still courteous. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the waitress give Clara a jealous but dirty look, and paid no mind to her. He was only devoted to the icy cattauress tonight, pretty determined to get her to at least smile at him or something.

Hearing the male follow along, she put a hand to her forehead. Why was he bothering her so? Looking at the offered table, she chuffed and headed past him a few tables before sitting down. "Quiet isn't peace enough with you." If she had seen the dirty look the waitress was giving her, she would have gone elsewhere most likely. She picked up the menu and held it up to look through.

Arphenion frowned slightly, but nevertheless slid the chair back in and followed her to her table, sitting across from her. "My treat." he said, his eyes following the waitress who was slowly making her way towards their table. He coughed slightly, turning his head towards the window but his eyes on Clara, "Don't mind her." he whispered.

The female shashayed over to their table, her hand on her hip as she glared at Clara, her yellow eyes gleaming. "Whaddya want?" she said, a little snooty as she ran her fingers casually through Arphenion's hair.

Clara sniffed softly. "I don't need any treats, least of all from you." She flicked her ears at his warning, repressing the urge to slap the male when she heard the waitress' voice. What was he bringing down on her? Was she about to get spit in her meal just because the cattaur was sitting across from her?
Lifting her chin slightly and ignoring the tone, she gave the menu another look before nodding. "I'll have the baked salmon dinner, please." She folded and replaced the menu, folded her hands into her lap, and looked flatly out the window. She didn't want him, so shouldn't the others be happy to know there's one less competitor out there? Surely the man would run back to his mistresses when he finally got the hint.

Arphenion froze, feeling fingers softly combing through his hair. Slowly, and gently, he pushed her hand aside, giving a sidelong glance at Clara. Thankfully she was taking it gracefully. He stayed silent, ignoring the waitress and hoping she wouldn't do something rude to his newest 'friend'.

"Alright." she said, her voice turning more sour as she glared at Arphenion, miffed that he had pushed her hand away. What was so great about her anyways? She wasn't that pretty compared to herself. As she turned to make her way towards the kitchen, she 'accidently' smacked her tail against Clara's bags, toppling them over.
"Oh. I'm so sorry." she said in a not-so-sorry voice, slipping into the kitchen with a smirk.

Clara closed her eyes when she heard her bags tip over. Thankfully, shattered glass didn't follow. Extra wrapping was always a good thing. Silently, she picked her bags up, replaced what had fallen out and tucked them to her other side against the wall, out of reach. With a deep breath, lips pressed tight and eyes burning angrily, she leaned toward Arphenion. "Unless you want to be thrown out this window, you have three options." She spoke softly so that no one but the male would hear, but every word burned with fire. "Get away from me, get your harlots under control, or get away from me. Guess which one is your best choice." Why did he have to choose to bother her tonight? He apparently had his pick and yet was sitting here getting her in trouble.

Arphenion couldn't help but facepalm, hearing the bags tipping over, and that waitress snivel at Clara. If he could just take that back. He sighed, his eyes weary as his eyes met with Clara's angry ones, "Tell me. Why do you hate me so much?" he asked, regretting his decision to get cozy with half the women in this town. "What have I done to you?" his tone was mournful.

"Besides apparently make me the target of scorn to nearly every other woman in this town?" Clara hissed. "What you've done is made it so each girl thinks she's your number one pet and get protective when they see you with someone new to fight for attention with. You slink around seducing whoever is stupid enough to fall for you and then move on to another without a second thought. Manipulative, thoughtless, crude, bothersome, and so thick-headed that you can't see I don't want you around me." Eyes blue fire, she leaned back away from the male. "No does not mean yes, and leave me alone doesn't mean follow me around. Find another seat or go make up with that woman before she breaks something else of mine." Perhaps a dose of cold truth would wake him up. Her arms crossed protectively across her chest as she glared at him. Men... always thinking of themselves. She frowned, brow furrowing in disappointment and even a little sad as she turned her head to look out the window again.

Arphenion opened his mouth to defend himself, but he was struck speechless. For once, he didn't know how to react. The cattaur shut his mouth, leaning back in his seat, rubbing his face before pushing his hair back as he stared at the other patrons of the tavern. Had he really done that? Was he as crude and manipulative as she had said?

He turned his head to look at Clara, his face like a puppy that had been scolded harshly by its owner.

Clara had little sympathy for his kind, especially when they tried to pull her into their web, the look he was giving her going unnoticed, save for his faint reflextion in the glass. They brought it on themselves when they asked for that kind of attention in the multiples.
Seeing a couple females standing on the other side of the road, pointing at her and leaning close together secretively, Clara felt another burst of anger. She just wanted her food, hopefully untarnished, and be on her way.

Arphenion wasn't one to get angry, so he kept silent, picking at the bandage on his arm, still staring at Clara.

"I-is this what I've become?" he said, his voice slightly bitter. He rubbed his face again, looking down at his hands, letting out a loud sigh.

The kitchen door swung open, and instead of the female waitress from earlier, a young centaur teen came out, holding the salmon dish carefully, not wanting to get his fingers burnt.
"I-I'm sorry about the delay ma'am..." said the young boy apologetically, "Sh-she um...dropped the first dish so we quickly had to make this one..." he leaned in to whisper, "This one's on the house. Sorry again." he straightened himself up before running back off into the kitchen.

Clara flicked her ears. At least he was trying to sound repentant. She looked up in surprise at the teen. When he set down the plate, looking in good condition, she gave the teen a nod, her face softening just for him. "Thank you."
Turning to her plate again, she caught Arphenion in her sight and hardened up again. "Is it?" She asked in reply, taking up a forkful of salmon and chewing slowly. Tasted good, no glass slipped into it or poison. "Look around. Just by walking with you, I've gotten evil looks. Just by sitting with you, my property has been knocked over, and she would not have cared if any of that had broken. Does that sound like a bunch of girls who don't care that they had a night or two with you?"
