A small pang of guilt flashed through Hester's mind and body after she had betrayed her father. But she pushed it away, knowing that what she had said had been the right thing to do. If Kame hadn't known about Tariq, then the consequences could be similar, if not exact, to what she witnessed every week.
"I-I'm glad I could help you," she replied, mentally pushing the guilt away with one final shove.
Hester blushed at the compliment, like she always did. "Thank you, Pad Kame, but I've only just recently reached my age. There haven't been many Pads who have come to talk with me." Talk. That was a nicer way to put it then having a Pad come over and look at her, examine her, like she was some piece of meat for the taking.
Although unknown to her, the thoughts Kame was entertaining, about how a Pad treats his females affects the future for what cubs he has, was exactly true. It was the same thing that made Hester the way she was today.

"You're an honorable woman, I hope you find yourself an honorable Pad," He said, very sincere in his words. He knew there were males within the pride that treated their Banu like slaves. He couldn't agree with that sort of behavior less. They were women, mothers and daughters, special in their ability to give life to the world; that in itself was a reason to treat them well.
He wondered how educated some of the pride-members were. He himself wasn't that educated as he was a jar-head warrior through and through, but he knew some things, like beating on a woman affected their ability to bear cubs. He gave a sigh, shaking his head at the thought of the damage some of the Pads inflicted upon their women. It probably looked odd to Hester to see a Pad so openly in thought before her.
As he went to continue speaking to Hester, a little voice perked up from some ways away. Looking up, Kame noticed a blue masked little cub on the other side of the watering hole and gave a small sigh. It was his son, Amjad, having come look for his father. Looking back to Hester he gave her a small pleasant smile, sure that she had also spotted his calling son across the way of the watering hole, "I've been found, it seems."
Kame got up from off the ground and stretched a small bit, his age having caught up to him recently by the birth of his eight children, "Thank you for indulging me in conversation, Banu Hester. I appreciate it. I hope we can converse again, and that you have a pleasant day."

She bowed her head again in thanks. Hester was quite unused to such praise and being thanked so often; it was such a different feeling, but she found herself liking it immensely.
At the sound of a small voice, she whirled her head in the direction it had come from and spotted a cub that looked like Kame. And then the lion spoke, and she connected that this was his son. He was a cute little cub, and she strangely, suddenly hoped that he would grow up to be as nice and kind as his father, one day.
His final thanks and farewell comments snapped her out of her thoughts and she looked at him again. Nodding, fumbling for an answer, Hester stuttered.
"Y-yes, thank you very much for the conversation. It was very pleasant to meet you; I do hope we can speak again, as well." And then she smiled a true, bigger smile than she had all day. Kame had given her a small inkling of hope that she might be able to find a Pad that would be nice to her, like this lion had been.
With a final nod, she turned to leave as he turned and walked towards his son. If luck would have it, they would meet again and talk some more. He was certainly an excellent conversationalist.
