Swimming along, Vine felt the water through his fur. It was a weird feeling, different from when he would bathe himself. This time, instead of just running down him, it actually stayed all around him, encircling him. He knew it felt good, but couldn't describe it.
It wasn't quite like a blanket, but it was refreshing. Remembering Keynada, he lifted his head up, hoping she was still above the water so he could talk to her. After seeing her come up for a bit of air he asked, "So do you live around here?"

Keynada turned her head back to the male when his voice met her ears. "Oh, yes! I always stay near the ocean, even when the snows come and you can't swim anymore. There are some dens a little south of here, and I've claimed one of them. It's really quite wonderful, I picked one that has a sea breeze coming into it so it always smells nice!" As she babbled on about her home, she let her feet leave the sand and floated in the thick water. For a moment she let the silence hang in the air, simply listening to the lapping of the ocean on the beach, then she realized she had forgotten to ask about Vine as well, "What about you, where do you live?"

Vine was a little surprised to hear her say that she lived around the ocean all year. Didn't it get cold in the winter?
He cocked his head a bit, trying to think. Did he really live anywhere that much? Perhaps the plains during the summer, but he always went into the forest during winter. "Well, I live in the plains during the warm seasons and the forest during the cold ones." He replied after finally coming up with the simplest answer he could think.

While Vine was thinking about things, Keynada found herself dipping her muzzle under the water and blowing bubbles up that made her giggle when they made the water's surface bubble up. This was apparently enough to keep the female plenty entertained until the sound of Vine's voice broke through her amusement, and her ears twitched to him to show that she was listening. Raising her muzzle back above the water, she said, "Oh, that makes sense, is it warmer in the forest than the plains during the winter?"

Vine shrugged. "It has more cover than the plains. If you stay there you either have to find your own shelter or try to make it." He replied. Tired of swimming, Vine went back onto the beach, but not far enough away from the water to not get hit by it.
He didn't want to swim anymore, but that didn't mean he didn't want to be in the water. He was just a little tired, so he wanted to rest, and laid down, letting the waves wash over him.

Keynada thought about what the male said for a moment, while lazily floating with the waves, "I guess so, but there are plenty of small hill and dunes with old dens to find if you don't want to dig out your own.... And I hear there are a bunch of caves at the base of the mountains even in the north by the forest. I've never been to the mountains myself, but I've always liked to listen to the travelers that come to the beach in the spring and they talk about a huuuuuuge network of caves, enough for anyone to find a place if they wanted...." Her face was a bit dreamy as the sun kissed her cheeks, but it wasn't over the idea of living in a cave. The female simply loved the activity of floating and chatting idly, just for the sake of companionship, what could honestly be better?
As she heard the faint splash of the male climbing back up onto the beach, Key flipped back to her feet and peered at him, thinking to herself for a moment before shrugging and walking into the shallower water herself. She didn't walk as far up the beach as he had, preferring to only occasionally not have water tickling toes, but close enough to be sociable. If she wasn't careful she would simply fall asleep on a beautiful day like this...
(how much longer would you like to continue this? they could both fall asleep and we could continue the rp at dusk when they wake up or something xD)
