Alright, so here's a tiny excerpt:

-

The air was cold again. It had been warm for a brief second as Shinji and Madison had made their way down the sidewalk, passing an air vent on the side of the restaurant they had passed, Shinji’s shoes clicking as she walked on the cement next to Madison, who had a cigarette in his mouth and puffed it rather merrily. The two of them could see their breath hitting the air and turning into steam, rising in to the snowy night air. Shinji had made a terrible mistake. Or at least, in her mind, she had made a terrible mistake. She wasn’t sure if Madison mirrored her thoughts, though she was fairly sure of his thoughts as of right now. The fact of the matter, however, was this:

They barely knew each other.

Shinji had rashly decided to run away with a complete stranger, the very same person who was with NOIR when they had kidnapped her only a couple of weeks before tonight, and now her she was, side by side with him, casually walking with him as if nothing had ever happened. Surreal, and strange. She wondered if leaving Akuma was the right decision.

Yes, she assured herself, he lied to me. He was the one keeping those photos the entire time, she said to herself, clutching the documents that she had stolen before she fled with Madison, he didn’t tell me – he was playing me for a fool. He’s up to no good. And Geinz…

She looked to her side, trying not to recall the newly-made gruesome memory from the night before. He was shot in cold blood, right before her eyes. When Shinji inquired about his whereabouts the morning after, Akuma simply replied that he had left early without any notice; something common among ULEA scientists. However, Shinji knew that he was lying. He lied straight to her face; Akuma had murdered him in cold blood; she witnessed it with her own eyes. The blood…

That smell…it’s like I…

…Ugh…

“Are you alright?” Madison asked after a while. Shinji nodded her head, but didn’t say anything. Madison flicked his cigarette butt to the side and stepped on it as they walked forward. They were lucky enough not to be found, but Madison knew that if he was to ever get to the bottom of this mess, Shinji and himself would have to get out of France and stay away from Japan for god knows how long. He didn’t know where they’d go. They had eaten one thing today – it was a can of soup from the soup kitchen because they had no money, no resources. Shinji was starving. Her feelings of being famished made her realize that leaving Akuma wouldn’t be so easy, and Akuma knew that very well.

“Are you still hungry?” Madison asked. Shinji nodded her head a little bit, but didn’t say a word. She had been fairly silent throughout the entire ordeal, but Madison couldn’t blame her. For once, he had to keep his temper to a low boil. As they were walking however, Madison looked around him suspiciously. The area that they had been walking in wasn’t a bad neighborhood, but he couldn’t shake off the feeling that they were being watched somehow.

I wouldn’t be surprised, Madison thought cynically, we’ve got to get our of this country as fast as we can. There’s no doubt they’re looking for us. I wouldn’t be surprised if…

Madison stopped in his tracks. Shinji had walked a few steps ahead of him before turning around, noticing that he wasn’t walking by her side.

“What’s wrong?” she asked. Madison fell silent. Shinji grew impatient.

“Hey! What’s the matter with—“

“Get in the car,” he interrupted, disregarding her question. Shinji became puzzled.

“What’s—“

“GET IN THE CAR, NOW,” he raised his voice. Shinji became worried, her pale eye colors darting in the direction that Madison was looking. A black Mercedes with tinted windows was sitting on the other side of the street. Madison was starring at it for what seemed like two seconds before a man in a black suit had stepped out of passenger’s side, making his way, a brusque walk that is, towards Madison.

“SHINJI, GET IN THE CAR! NOW!” he yelled at the top of his lungs, running at full speed towards the car that he had hijacked while he was here, “NOW!

Shinji’s heart sped up.

Oh no. This is it. I’m caught. I’m toast, I’m done for. I’m-

Madison yanked Shinji’s arm and pulled her forward, opening up the passenger side door and throwing her in, slamming it behind her. He jumped over the hood and hit the ignition before closing the door behind him, tired screeching as he sped down the road, the cars were hot on their trail. Shinji was grabbing the side handle of the door, terrified.

What will Akuma say? Oh god, I messed up. This was a terrible idea. Oh god. Oh god, please help me. I can’t even think. What’s going to happen? What’s going to happen to me? Would he ever forgive me for being so stupid? God, I am so stupid. I am SO stupid. I should have never left in the first place. I should have stayed there, I should have talked to Akuma, I should’ve—

“DAMNIT!” Madison cursed allowed as a bullet hit the back windshield, shattering it to pieces. Shinji screamed before ducking. Madison turned the corner hard.

“DUCK,” he commanded, “STAY DOWN. I SAID STAY DOWN THERE, DAMNIT!” he screamed at Shinji, who had her hands over her neck, fighting back the tears. Madison drifted to the right before going straight again; the roads were slippery from the freshly fallen snow, but it wasn’t enough for ULEA to slow down. The cold air was whipping through the front end of the car; the shattered pieces of glass covered the backseat. Madison had broken several traffic laws with five minutes, he was positive.

“HEY,” he barked at Shinji, “TAKE THE WHEEL!”

Shinji did as she was told and reached over as far as she could do take the wheel, driving from the passengers side so Madison could load his gun. Once he cocked it, he rolled down the window. Shinji’s silver hair was flying in her face as she attempted to steer while Madison hit the accelerator. One shot, two shots – nothing hit. Madison drew back in before cursing again, taking the wheel.

“Thanks,” he muttered. Shinji went back to ducking her head. They took another hard turn. Shinji yelped as she hit the side of the window. The handle on the car wasn’t gentle in the slightest; the way that Madison was driving, however, didn’t help much at all.

The next few seconds, however, were earth-shattering. Shinji wouldn’t be able to remember what happened after them. A black Mercedes, similar to the one that had been pursuing them at high speeds, pulled out in front of them. Madison, however, was too late to move out of the way.

“OH SH—“

Shinji screamed.

He slammed on the breaks. Madison’s airbags deployed, but Shinji, however, wasn’t so lucky. Madison was knocked unconscious immediately upon deployment, and Shinji was thrown straight through the windshield, her head shattering the glass. The momentum had carried her body like a rag doll against the windshield of the Mercedes that had intersected him, shattering the glass before hitting the cold pavement next to it.

Black. Blood had trailed down the street and into the gutters.

--

“…………….”

Shinji woke up facing a window with curtains. Her eyes opened finally, but she squinted them shut again when the light hit them. She took two erratic, small breaths before realizing that she was alive. It was strange, attempting to recall the last three minutes of her life, or what she could remember. However, the room was all too familiar. The circular outline, the beautiful chest and the walk-in closet with the garments that had been there before…

…been there before…

…wait, I’m…

….

Oh…Oh no!

The same silk sheets and the same dresser had greeted her. It was like any other morning in the French estate she had been living in the past two weeks.

How did I…Madison! I was…

She felt her arm; it was wrapped in gauze tightly and her ribcage hurt; it was if someone had punched her several times. There was a bruise that had covered her upper right brow and her lip was cut. When she tried to move, she gasped in pain; her legs were out of commission as well. She felt as though they were wrapped in something, but she couldn’t even move her arms to uncover her blankets. When she tried to, she was interrupted.

“Oh, I wouldn’t try to move if I were you.”

Shinji froze. Seeing her best friend walk through the doorway made her feel instantly guilty.

Oh no. Oh no. No! No! I’m sorry! I’m sorry!

“You’re going to stay right here for a while,” Akuma spoke merrily, “because I think you and I need to have a talk.”

Shinji looked at him, petrified. She couldn’t stare anywhere else but him, watching as his form came nearer and nearer to her bedside, blocking out the natural sunlight from her window.

“You look nervous. Why so panicked?” he asked gently. Shinji didn’t respond.

“I have an idea,” he began cheerfully, taking a seat on her beside. Shinji’s body involuntarily drifted to where his weight was, “Let’s play a game, shall we? I’ll ask you five questions, and you can ask me five questions, but here’s the catch, my dear Shinji,” he began, “They have to be true or false.”

Silence.

“Well? Would you like to play? It’s quite simple really; besides, if our relationship is going to work, we can’t have any secrets between us, can we?”

Shinji shook her head.

“That’s what I thought, too. Good. I’m glad we’re on the same page, then. Well, let’s begin. You first,” he started.

“…You’re furious. True or False?” She asked quietly. Akuma smiled.

“True. You’re terrified, aren’t you?” he asked, a smarmy smile appearing on his face.

“True,” she whispered, “you murdered Geinz but told me he left.”

“True,” he smiled again, “My, you’re awfully good at this. You’ve seen Madison before your little escapade, True or False?” he asked.

“True.”

“You’ve been sending people to follow me around for a year and collecting information while I was working under my father’s supervision at the 181st ULEA building,” Shinji stated.

“Ah, true,” Akuma chucked, “you came in contact with Madison when he and NOIR kidnapped you.”

“True,” Shinji confirmed, “You killed Christian Tenshino.”

“You’re better than I thought, Shinji. I underestimated you. And here I thought you were clueless,” Akuma smiled, “True.”

Shinji’s blood began to boil.

“You’re wondering why I brought you here in the first place,” he sat back somewhat, waiting for her response.

“True. Why did you—“

“Ah-Ah!” Akuma interrupted her, “You’re breaking the rules, that’s not the way you play this game Shinji. True or False questions only, explanations later.”

Shinji fell silent. She pulled off the engagement ring from her finger with what little strength that she had in her arms and handed it to him in her palm, while looking at him with a deadpan tone.

“We’re done. True or True?”

Oh jeez, angels were terrifying. In medieval times, you weren't good because you wanted to go to heaven, you were good so you'd spend as little time with stir crazy purgatory angels. Depending on which section of the church you belonged to, anyhow.

Also, wasn't it the angels who carried out the death of the first born plague in the Moses story? Old testament God and his minions angels were not nice.

Yup. And no one ever said the Biblical angels were human, either. That was a mistake carried through by Renaissance art.

Alright, so here's a tiny excerpt:

The air was cold again. It had been warm for a brief second as Shinji and Madison had made their way down the sidewalk, passing an air vent on the side of the restaurant they had passed, What if you changed this to: "It had been warm for a brief second as S and M had made their way down the sidewalk, passing a hot gust from an air vent on the side of a restauraunt. OKAY sweatdrop

"passing an air vent on the side of the restaurant they had passed"
What OTHER things could they pass?!

Also, I totally did a double take to find Shinji=girl and Madison=guy. XD

Wow, a lot of typos and errors up in here. Run ons.
Neat-o. Noir=black and akuma=devil? Are we a little heavy with the symbolism?

Mostly the same 'too much for so little' problem.
Switching perspectives in the same paragraph is confusing. 8O

WHAT DO YOU MEAN GET IN THE CAR YOU RAPIST
Oh, that was sort of confusing. Whose car...?

How I imagine this car chase: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7fDTd4tWrE
GOOSE
I agree with Charlotte. I like this, especially the last line about breaking the law, breaking the law.
Are you like, addicted to characters with silver hair? 8V

"Shinji screamed." -A perfect sentence.

OH MY GOD WHAT
You're really passive here~

@Char: You don't like him because of that LINE? How about his name meaning 'devil'?

Okay, yeah, the end was freakin' great. I didn't have anything to say with the exception of little grammar and stuff. It was really interesting! 8U
My complaints are mostly things you probably already know about from Eterra. It started a little weak, but I rather liked Shinji--inexplicably silver hair aside. =D

Thanks to both of you~!

Yeah, this excerpt was written a loooooooooooong time ago. So, if that's any indication of the lolz-worthy writing style, then yeah.

Madison is a guy, yes! There's frequent jokes thrown at him by Shinji about how Madison is a girl's name.

LOL SYMBOLISM WHAT SYMBOLISM I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT Yeah that. >_> We started writing this a while ago (like, 6 years), so I'm sorry for the lulzy names of things. And you know, when 14, 15, 16-year-olds write, pretty much everything has to be symbolic in some ridiculous way. The names just sort of stuck, and now I can't imagine them with different names, HAH.

The silver hair is COINCIDENCE, I promise! Shinji was my friend's character, but as the story progressed, I was starting to envision her with just stark blonde hair that appeared silver or whatever. There is a reason for her ethereal appearance, though!

When this story started out, Shinji was a girl with wolf ears and a tail working for the CIA.

No, I'm not kidding.
