Sonnet shook his head. "She ignored me... she seemed to be focused on Sym, kept pressing her, even though I was answering for her... She seemed to be getting angry at me for giving Sym's answers and that Sym said nothing... Sym was pretty upset when we finally left... I should have just... just... AHHHH" Yelling in anger and he stomps some poor inoffensive plant into the dirt. Wishing he had stomped and stabbed the two pieces or dirt till they were dead and gone. But that would have upset Sym to see him like that. "They were lucky Sym was there...." His tone a little murderous, clearly they might not be so lucky if he ever saw them again.

Akuba's nostrils flared as he huffed angrily,"it's because She knows Sym is the easier target. If she had listened to you she wouldn't have to get angry about her lack of speech... with a bit listening she'd know, but it seems she doesn't really care", he frowned and shook his head,"How could I let this happen?!" Akuba snarled at the air, he turned to his son with a kinder tone,"thank you for looking after your sister, this has shown he how well you've grown and matured. I'm going to have to step in, I specifically told her not to go looking for you, but I suppose it makes others even more curious and determined to. I told her there'd be consequences, I didn't want anything happening to, especially as foals. This is why I've always kept you close at a young age."
Akuba's mind whipped round to the thought of his daughter,"Where's Sym?"
He also wondered weather Stripe knew about this meeting but surely not, Sonnets anger was fresh from the battles of the past and present.

Sonnet shook his head. "You didn't LET anything happen Dad, she wasn't looking for us she was looking for you. But your right she doesn't care she can't, if she had cared you would have known it and Sym and me wouldn't be here." Almost shouting at Akuba though it wasn't intentional, he was just frustrated by everything, by the fact he had not been able to protect Sym totally. "What's worse she was trying to make us think you were the one who was wrong, that you had made her into the pathetic state she was showing. I mean seriously you don't forget where the one you love most lives." His tone and expression softening a little as he thinks about Chan, the young mare he was pretty sure he was in love with. He would never forget where she lived, and even if she moved he would find her.
The worst of his temper spent he hung his head. "I didn't protect Sym enough, I should have made her leave right away so they had to deal with me and only me... Sym's at home, I stayed with her a while till she had calmed down, then I flew around to make sure they hadn't tried to follow... After that I just couldn't keep my temper any more so I took it out on the forest." He hadn't seen Stripe, so unless she had run into her poor excuse for a mother and got the story there then stripe was in the dark. Starting to tremble, still very angry and upset, after all Sonnet had a tender and soft heart, this would have hurt him too. "They aren't family... I love Stripe, she will always be my bib sister and I'll protect her like I would Sym.... But those others... they are no family to us... Family doesn't do things like that to each other!" His tone getting louder as he finishes his sentence, yelling by the end of it. The 4 of them and his Dad's familiar were the only family he knew, all the family he had, and no matter that there were blood links to others they had abandoned them, none of the siblings had a mother to speak of, though there were mares out there who had given birth to them, but really all they had had was their dad.

Akuba's heart shattered all over again, he exhaled feeling disheartened, listened to his son's anger almost glaring straight through him,"I find that to be comical. You've known me all of your life and can make your own mind up. It is pretty ridiculous when a stranger comes into your life trying to tell you that I'm the bad guy." Akuba laughed to himself," yes you have a point it is pretty ridiculous, I've always been in the same place and she's not far from here." He watched his son momentarily suddenly soften.
"Sonnet you did what you could and that's fine, she won't be seeing them again. It was probably just a shock is all. She'll be fine. Don't be so hard on yourself, just one encounter can have you raged and emotionally drained." Akuba flicked his tail bone. These children had done so much for him when he chose to protect them instead of having them call her Mother. They had rebuilt and filled the gaps in his heart and now they'd always have a place there and now he'd always choose them over anyone else because he knew that he'd always find happiness in them and their memories.
"Do you see why I walked out on, abandoned and disowned them? Are my reasons clear? To them they do not seem so...but they cannot see what they have done wrong can they? And to upset my children is the worst offense, I wanted to shield you from the drama and that's why I took you both away. If I didn't she'd be prompting for you to call her mother." He turned away disgusted at the thought, he spoke softly,"but even if I had followed that path I doubt you would and I doubt we'd be there long, it'd just mean more misery and I wanted you to have a happy foalhood. Having a Mother is a nice thought but not if it would bring you misery."

Sonnet nodded as he listened to his father, the anger starting to drain out of him. Hid Dad was always and had always been his dad. Sure he had told him off when he had been naughty as a foal or when he had gone off where he was not supposed to, but he knew that had all been for his own benefit. He had also love and fussed over them, Sonnet had never wondered if he was loved, all for the lack of his mother he had rarely noticed, Akuba had loved them that well. He had been curious at times, he would watch Chan's parents with curiosity as he tried to see what was different there. But thats all it was, he was not envious of others with a mother, and if there had been any signs of envy there they were dead now. He had no idea of his own mother beyond that she had cared more about herself that her foals. The other option for mother was a total nightmare, yes his father had done them a favour in keeping them away.
Walking over and giving his father a nuzzle he smiled gently. "Thanks Dad." Thanking him for many things, form listening to him rant to doing all he had for his children. Sonnet silently hoped that one day his father would meet a nice mare, one that would love his father more than anything. If he ever found that he would be glad to call the mare mother and they could be a real family, all be it mismatched.

Akuba nodded,"it's okay. I know it's kinda hard for us all. My past never ceases to follow me." He was so proud of his son and how he'd grown from a little squishy thing in a basket barely resembling a soquilli to this long legged and strong willed young adult. He'd always be there for those he loved because he knew he wasn't going anywhere soon, his days were often spent giving advice, reading, building, maintaining the teepee and lounging around, there was nothing else for him to do. He had chosen to take himself and his children away from everything he thought would or could potentially be bad in the future. A fresh start for him and his children was was he thought was best, he wished that those in his past would understand that. He knew that it'd be dangerous to let Niele mother them although she seemed upset she was desperate to make it happen, by the time his first children had grown and he knew they'd move on and it was time for him to step up and take responsibility and do better by them.
He turned away to face the direction of their home,"I suppose your sisters are waiting for you. Are you coming?" He understood that more recently Sonnet had plans, but he was growing up fast and that's what happens.
"I'll see you later." He gave his son a small but proud smile and headed back to the teepee.
